I actually tape my leg socks under the back of my heel so that my bottom calf strap, lower than Gibson's, has nothing to snag. Source: I work in a pro shop that sells figure skating shit, and these are pretty popular to prevent lace bite, slipping, or blisters. I've tried them, the work great actually.
