CCM GFL Pro Mask

Recommended Posts

This was the exact mask I got. Same color, size, grade, everything.

It's been at the painter so I was forced to use the Sportmask Pro Series I got last year and right away as I put it on, I wish I had my GFL mask.I can't explain how but the vision in it was more crisp.

Anyway I know it's not for everyone. I wish someone would/could talk about it without mentioning or comparing it to the 961.

But I think it's great, so far every one of these masks that I sold in my store, there have been no returns so presumably it's worked out well. Hope to see more goalies go into it. I think it's very underrated.

I will NOT be comparing it to 961 really. The only purpose of he reference in the video was to encourage people to try it and not only rely on the size chart.

For me, this mask definitely fits the best off the shelf

One of the improvements with this mask over the original is better peripheral vision. I noticed instantly when I put it on

For the lay person, this is the exact level of protection an NHL goaltender gets?

This mask is used through the CHL, NCAA, EU Pro, ECHL and I believe some AHL

NHL and majority of 2 way AHL guys get masks through the Lefevre factory in Canada. They are actually built by a Bombardier aerospace supplier that is a composites contract manufacturer.

This mask is built by an offshore composites specialist who only does carbon fiber applications. The build quality is one of the improvements between Gen 1 and this Gen 2 mask

TGN look forward to see your deep dive on this mask - this is what my son wears know, we have changed his cage to a white certified cat eye. One of the goalies he practices with recommended the white cage RE: the white blends better with the ice providing better contrast vs the puck!

The mask is pretty impressive, very light, extremely rigid, I added tubing at the top of the forehead section of the cage in order to avoid any damage to the helmet if he where to take a shot there - will post after Christmas

What size do you measure in at? I personally measure at 23.5" and am unsure of whether I'd like a medium or large better. I'll obviously try both, but would value any input. I'm in no rush for a new mask, but just want this one due to liking the look lol.

Sean - try the  mask comparing forehead sizes is irrelevant the rest of your head/face shape will disctate if the mask is right for you. Also never buy a helmet without trying or relying on the Mfg’s sizing I did this mistake a few years back worst purchasing mistake!

Mainly changes because of the white cage preference. Only about an 8% weight change on the overall mask on the cage flip

I prefer white cages too! Just feels like better vision to me

So not only do the Sportmask Mage RS cages fit the CCM masks (albeit not perfectly; I forget who found out about this), the Bauer NME certified straight-bar cage apparently also fits according to the EQM for the Sting. You can see in the first two photos the damaged CCM cage, and in the third photo the replacement Bauer NME cage:
