What car do you use to haul your gear to games?

Not much of a car guy at all, but playing goalie has always ensured that my weird love for station wagons will continue. Much like my gear, I prefer the older stuff, even if I fully acknowledge it's less safe, functional, etc.

I grew up with a Volvo 240 in this exact blue (!), and it had a super-roomy trunk for my gear (and a teammate's). It was beautiful. Well, I didn't think so at the time... but everyone in town sure knew who I was!

I've driven Subaru Foresters since ~2012. My wife and I just leased a 2019. The trunk isn't much compared to that Volvo, but I fit my big bag, pads, and sticks just fine. I always drive to hockey by myself, anyway.

Now if we're talking which cars I *wish* I had to take my gear to hockey...

Yay for bright colours. 2004 GMC Jimmy is our official play vehicle. I actually lived out of this vehicle when I first started my career. We've been inseparable, she took me all over the continent in search of employment and roots. People often ask me why I don't dump the ol' shitbox for something nice and I ask them why their nose is broken. The Armadilla is in there because of a similar attachment.

Used to be this... 2012 WRX... stage 2 for those who may be gear heads...

Then we had twins so I went for something slightly bigger... 2015 Forester XT. No engine mods but the entire suspension is aftermarket (2” drop roughly)... and a bunch of other bits as well. Pictured in the OEM wheels for the winter...

Bag fits in the trunk... sticks & pads go in the back seat. Actually worked out that way with both cars... but the Forester XT has a taller and slightly deeper trunk.
