Had the same problem. VH/True has been a lifesaver on my insanely pronounced ankle bone. STEEP price but extremely worth it.

Price not all that steep compared to top end models from other brands. But I agree, worth every penny.

Set looks good. Happy to see some black. Graphic is a bit boring but maybe that's your thing. My only real complaint would be the white thigh rise and boot lacing. Why in the blue hell would they have not used black lacing?

Im bit of a minimalist so the graphic is perfect for me, and im not sure why it isnt black, would have looked better

Played my first game in this yesterday and really impressed so far.

any questions - please ask.

Nice, been waiting for a Shield II CA review! What unit are you switching from? Any major differences between the two right out of the gate?

I'm coming from a Vaughn V3 7500 - I was very hesitant to go CCM. From my experience, I felt CCM to be really bulky and I never really gave them another look after I got my V3 unit.  Especially since I'm a Vaughn guy, but I have to be honest - I wasn't liking the fit on me with their new units when I was in the market for an upgrade (V7, Ventus..V8 looks ugly in my opinion). So, when I saw a few previews of the Shield II, I waited.

Right away, I love the squared off shoulder look and mobility in the arms was a focus for them. Plus, the red and black look matched my gear - haha.

Once it came out, I tried it on and it felt really good and even better with my gear on. Some minor things to get used to but after a few more games it shouldn't be a problem. I was really impressed how comfortable and confident I was in my first game. I didn't feel restricted in any of my movements, especially going into a RVH, looking behind the net or playing the puck. It didn't move on me after scramble plays. It didn't restrict my vision. The pucks absorb really nice and don't pop off like my old V3, is a big difference off the bat. But, I am coming from an 8+ year old chest unit.

Nothing is worse in spending a chunk of change on new gear and it doesn't feel really good the first time on the ice. So, I'm really happy how this turn out. I highly recommend giving this a shot.

Also, it felt really light (especially when I was carrying my bag) and keeps you cool during the game.

Can't wait until my next game.

Here's my old chest. Trying to sell it.

@mr_shifty1982, since you asked about P2 reviews, I'll give you mine.  I've only managed to use them for a few ice times, but as I'm coming from P1, it was an easy transition.

Two things that you notice right away: 1) Light!!! Wow.  They say it's 20% lighter, and I believe it.  Picking them up and comparing side-by-side, it's hard to believe that it isn't more.  As a result of this, they move with you really well on the ice and help reduce fatigue.  2) They feel much more flexible all over.   Not sure how some of the other break options would compare, but the single internal/external break compared to the previous version is much easier to flex.  For the boot, I feel that this is a great improvement, and allowed for a much easier time getting low and also in pushing while in the butterfly.

In addition to these first two things, the pad seemed to fit a bit smaller as the boot angle wasn't quite as extreme as previous.  The new strapping system is very comfortable and responsive, just need to play with it a bit in order to make sure that there is a consistent feel across both your legs.  As well, the rebounds have gotten even better, firing off of the pads with greater ease.

The glove I didn't notice too much change in, and still felt comfortable.  The blocker again had a noticeable weight reduction allowing for a quicker blocker hand and easier time with stick/puck control.  They added a few more pieces of protection on the finger tips, and changed the attachment point for one of the elastics on the index finger, which can at times cause things to feel a little bulky, but quickly forgotten about at the same time.

The only draw back to the equipment that I tried was the speedskin.  For myself, I'm just not a fan.  I'm not sure if it's a mental thing, or an actual, but it always seems like I slide slower and have a more difficult time when I wear a pad with speedskin.  Saying that, I've heard lots a good feedback about speedskin and it's improvements to people's game, it's just not for me.  If I were to order a set today, I'd be going with standard jenpro.

All-in-all, they aren't the lightest, they don't have the best rebound, or have the best slide on the market, but for my money they are the best overall performing and feeling pad.  If you're in the market for new equipment, they're definitely worth taking a good look at.

@Lurch thanks bud, I did order a custom set. Went with a 34+1  my P1 were a 33+2.  You go with the same size for both?

I tried a demo pad and even though it was straight I did notice the speekskins and they made a very small difference. I wasn't going to get it but I did under the pad only.  The rest jenpro.

I went single break internal but not out. My P2 after a year and a half of use look like a double break in and out lol and it's only a single. I also went with a stiff boot cuz the pad looks way too soft and I'm scared that after a year will just break and shrink.

Post some pics for sure!

@Znowleopard@mr_shifty1982, unfortunately I haven't purchased a set yet.  That's going to have to wait for a bit as life happens. lol.  The gear I got to try was from one of my local hockey shops that has a demo program for equipment.  I probably would go with the same size (i.e. 35+2) as my P1s are a bit big.  But as requested, here's a pic of the gear I got to try (taken from their instagram).
