George Carlin once said "If I could put my seat-back forward I'd be in porno movies". I guess this is what putting your seat-back forward looks like. This might be my favorite hockey photo of all-time.

I watched that live, it was a crazy, awkward,  wonderful save.

I was just logging in to post that he's finally wearing that gold set.  Watching them now in the dark jerseys, he looks pretty awesome.

That mask looks like his nickname should no longer be Flower , but Darth Fleur.

P.s. Fleury vs. Gibson has me super excited.  Very entertaining duel.

If it is you know Leonsis and MacLellan will have a nice chat with Bettman and co.

Right.  I'm wondering if our fingers should be crossed that it is indeed related to chest protector reductions.  If the goal is to go back, there needs to be documented injuries.

i dont think sizizing of the chesties is the issue its more the closer fitting, so guys who ran a bigger size had space between the body and the puck but now that space has gone

Today's goalies are just soft. Like 2 ply soft.

"This" is also a photo taken in the mid-1970's, when NHL players couldn't shoot the puck *nearly* as hard as they can today. To chalk it up to toughness is a very facile argument.

I am 100% in the smaller C/A's camp. I definitely think some goalies have been too touchy about the C/A's being downsized. But if/when injuries occur, people should take a serious look at how they can be prevented, and that includes looking at the equipment — especially when it's recently been altered. We're talking about actual injuries, not bumps and bruises.

+1. This is more about personal benefit but I have difficulty finding CAs that actually fit me. Most are far too wide in my size (I'm a very thin tendy and 5'10"). My hopes are that this new rule will allow me to find gear the fits me easier. I also really want CAs to be downsized because it would level the competition in Texas. A couple days ago I saw a 12u house league goalie with a Bishop sized CA on. That kid didn't even have to move (probably couldn't either) and he was stopping the puck. CA size has really gotten out of hand in some cases, especially the lower levels where there's less enforcement.

Just saying I hope it's not ca related.

Can't argue the facts of old verses new it's pointless.

Composite sticks were a massive game changer. I wonder what the average shot spread was mid 70 compared to today's game.

Excellent.

Competition improves quality.

Could just be weave, eh?

Could be, but the pattern looks too big to be Vaughn's usual weave.

I might be wrong, but Vaughn DOES own a stake in Brian's, does it not? Perhaps that would entitle them to use the primo material (or something similar) without much hassle?

I've heard whispers of that here and there, but nothing verifiable.

I'm not too savvy with Brian's stuff so I can't speculate with any confidence about the materials.
