35RoloSmith41
I’m looking for the best. I’ve heard about so many chest protectors that leave bruises on the arms and stuff. im currently wearing a custom brown chest protector but its 10lbs and gets hot. I want something lighter but also protective. I was looking at warrior. They look super bulky so I’d assume they’re protective. What’s your guys/gals opinions? I’m in a big hockey city so you play middle tier beer league and you end up playing g against a former NHL player or junior players who can dent your goalie cage or turn your arm black and blue.
coopaloop1234
Retail would by CCM AB series or Warrior. Custom would be pretty much any brand since they all offer units to NHL'ers.
Teezle
In my experience, for the most protective: Body - new CCM Pro Arms - Bauer Pro Series with beefed up forearms/biceps (entire unit can only be custom ordered these days) Overall - new CCM Pro
Smalls
I've tried a lot of them. Haven't been in the new CCM pro though but my Passau Pro Pack has been bulletproof for me for many years. Most recently I've tried mostly Bauer chests like beefed up Bauer Pro (European One95 Clone), Hyperlite 1 Chest, Ultrasonic Chest, Mach Chest, Mark Hockey Chest w/ Kenesky arms, and Warrior RX3 Pro+. None of them felt as comfy or solid as the Passau. But as someone who tries a lot of gear, the chesty is one of the hardest things to get used to IMO out of all the others so I think a lot of this is just gonna come down to preference. It sounds to me like you're trying to focus mostly on protection by your post so I will say Passau if it was me. Can go custom or just see what size they have in stock. They're heavier and warmer than Bauers though. With you coming from a Brown I really think you'll find most other and newer chest and arms less protective than a brown but with that you get something lighter and more mobile too. The Warrior you mentioned seeing wasn't my cup of tea but I know many who love them. Matt at Hockeyreviews on YouTube loves his. For me, I like to wear my chest a bit higher on the neck and when I adjusted my Warrior the same way I do most other chesties the straps on the back were very uncomfortable. There is like two standard passthrough clips like on most gear that sit almost on my shoulder blade that just felt funny and made me move that unit immediately. By far the oldest piece of gear I own and it just keeps kicking.
