ricecracker
Been thinking about grabbing a Warwick custom mask lately and I just wanted to hear y'all's experience with them. Also wanting to know how well their custom masks fit, I know they have several shell designs and their masks are padded to fit, and I'm planning on having them take a mold of my face if that's something they still do. Also, does anyone know if they can do shorter/longer chins, or remove vents? I usually like masks with only ear vents, and I'm not to sure if that's something they do. Thanks y'all
A.YOUNGoalie13
Up there with Pro’s choice for quality and craftsmanship. Never been able to afford one myself but they are top notch
kat30
I've had a custom Warwick for about 8 years now, it doesn't owe me anything at this point. I used it playing NCAA and took some bombs, both from players and coaches, and I've never been shaken up or felt the shot more than a thud and some mild ear ringing. I live about 5 minutes from his shop and was able to go in for Gary to pad it in person with me, so I can't speak to the molding or measuring process. I know most goalies send him pictures with any measurements he needs and that seems to be fine for him to reference. Gary can get you the shell with most anything you want, chin length, custom vents, etc., at an added cost. Based on the shape of your face he will recommend which shell style you should get, then you can make changes from there. As for the fit, it is truly custom in that he will add every little piece to fill the gaps around your face. He made sure that my nose was an appropriate distance from the cage, it hugged my cheek bones, temples, chin, it sat right on my head, and the center bar followed the center line of my face. My only gripe is that I have a smaller head/face and the size of the shell itself is a little big. My ears are pretty far from the ear holes so it makes hearing my teammates hard sometimes and the muscles in my neck had to adjust to the weight of it, but these are my minor nitpicks. It is just Gary and his wife Shelley operating the shop, so when you email or call you know you are getting an answer right from the source. Tommy Alisat
I have had my Warwick mask for 13 years. Had padding replaced by Gary a few years ago. It is to this day the envy of many of my goalie peers. Timeless Black shell that matches the whack of goalie jerseys I have attained over the years. Had the Honor of Gary "SR" fit me with it in person at their shop in Port Huron MI.
SentryHockey
I saw a repair job on one of their shells last year. It was extremely thin fiberglass with a strip of carbon fiber in the chin and a patch of kevlar. Kind of like Pro's Choice. Back in 2006 they hired a new guy to make masks for them. The slow motion video on youtube of the mask testing was done at his shop and after a year he threw the Warwicks including Chad out of his shop for making claims that werent true. I personally would only buy a mask from a company that was upfront and honest about what your getting, like Protechsport or Kustom Komposites. Any company that has to use fancy marketing terms is lying to hide the materials they're actually using.

All I've ever seen them say is that they use high quality materials and technique to create the masks, which I think would be a fair statement in comparison to a large manufacturer like CCM or Bauer since it is slightly more hand made and fit. They haven't produced their own shells in-house for quite a long time (could be 2006?). I was promised a custom fit mask made with fiberglass and reinforced chin and forehead areas, I would say that's exactly what I received.
