35RoloSmith41
Really interested in the air fitting system. Seems pretty cool and provides a more custom fit. I’ve also heard he responds quickly and can get new cages out fast. also curious if any other goalies cages would fit or if my only option would be to go through them directly. So quick response time and fast shipment of new cages are your primary criteria? There's plenty of mask options that do just that. Link below is old (2020), but IMO sheds some light on their business practices. https://hecc.org/for-consumers/important-notice-regarding-promasque/

What are people’s thoughts on them? the other stuff is just what I mustered up as I was falling asleep. I wouldn’t want to get a helmet and be stuck waiting for a cage or anything. I tend to go through a lot of them. Open to other custom options as well.

I also think I remember it being explained away that it was a misunderstanding which makes no sense to me either. I do like the air bladder idea though. chile57
This is a tough one. I recall going back to the GSBB days most everyone having a positive experience with Promasque - responsive outfit and a quality product they were happy with. Then again - merits (or lack thereof) of the certification stickers notwithstanding - pretty shady to go about counterfeiting them. Disclaimer - this is only via word of mouth - I have no personal experience with Promasque. As far as the cage - probably best to get it straight from the manufacturer in this instance (since its not really a highly mass produced outfit where folks are making it a point to make "off brand" alternative a la Bauer or CCM). There is of course the option to have one custom fabricated (but then your quick turnaround thing becomes moot). For what its worth - I recall some folks having issues with the air bladder ultimately leaking (which is probably to be expected over time). I know he does refurbs where you could get this addressed. He didn't really explain it, either. https://hecc.org/for-consumers/statement-from-promasque/ With all the people up in arms (rightfully so) recently about Kenesky charging them and disappearing - I think supporting good, ethical business in this industry is worth a look. 18 hours ago, 35RoloSmith41 said: Nah my title is my main question. Absolutely the best value here, only challenge is the extended wait time. Pro's Choice does a full custom shell - very expensive, but I get premium service with it - my cages are next-day aired and I get free padding refurbs (not sure if he does this last part anymore for everyone), and he answers the phone when I call. GoalieParts sells the Otny masks - they fantastic product for the price point. You can probably find replacement cages for whatever mask you use here. Protechsport has 4 layers of Kevlar throughout on the Full Kevlar shell, with 3 additional layers of Kevlar in the forehead and chin. It's not clear to me whether Promasque puts you into different sized shells based on your head, or if it is reliant on the air bladder system to customize the fit. I've never seen one in person but I think the feedback on GGSU is really positive on Promasque. Looks like Pro's Choice is doing a Black Friday sale, too. $1,800 US instead of $2,200 US for a fully custom shell - https://progoaliemask.com/
DALV1
Might not be too much help but I bought a Promasque in 1991 from the Original Pure Hockey in Worcester,Ma. They sent it back to Matt so he could paint it Blue(was white on shelf). My friend bought one the same day. We both played in those masks till 2012!!! I set the air bladder once, it never leaked. It was the best mask either of us owned, super comfy, lightweight and I don’t recall ever getting hurt. We both bought the “classic” masks, neither replaced a cage, came with cats eye. This was a huge departure from wearing a players helmet with goalie cage so our love for it comes from there. I realize it was 33 years ago so probably zero help…. Loved it tho, zero issues! In an Eddy now so I’m NOT the guy to base to much mask advise from. And honestly I didnt know about HECC stickers, it was comfortable and worked well. SentryHockey
The full kevlar mask from Protechsport or the full Kevlar from Shawn at Kustom Komposites are going to be your best bet. The "ultra strong triaxial vector fiberglass" or however he worded it is 100% marketing. Theres woven fiberglass and matte fiberglass in different weights. It's just like the term Sportmask tossed around for years "pro glass". Completely made up BS marketing as it doesnt exist. 99% of these only have a couple shells and pad the mask accordingly to the customer. As far as cages, otnywire would have replacement cages I believe.

Send him a head mold and he will fit you in the closest fitting mold that he has of a pro (Theodore, Giguere, Luongo, Auld, Lalime, the list goes on...) That's what he'll do unless you specify a specific shell like a Roy, Brodeur or 961.
