Smalls Posted January 3 Posted January 3 My pants are my oldest piece of gear I own at the moment. It's an older pair of CCM Pros. I tried their newer version and something with the upper side area is less stiff so to speak and bunched up on me. I'm really out of the loop when it comes to pants these days, so do any of you have recommendations on a pant when going un-tucked? I've heard a lot of pros like the SLR3? But they seem like a tuck pant. I will say, I do like a pant that sits higher around the waist. Bauers always felt like I was sagging my jeans in them, and warrior kind of had the same feel IMO. So I like the look of the Vaughns, I just don't know if it's a bad idea if they are better for tuckers. The main thing that makes me hate a pant I've come to find is like mentioned above, they feel like they sit low. The other thing is if they have no removable padding on the inner thigh I really tend to dislike that, as I usually take that out to make sealing up a bit easier. Appreciate any insights gentlemen. keeperton Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Re: SLR3 pants I've never been someone that tucks, tried it and found it wasn't for me. That said, I've been using the SLR3 Pro Carbons now sans tuck for two years and found them to work just splendid. I used the SLR2 Pro Carbon pants before them and also didn't tuck with no issues. While the pros don't get to use it, the internal belt is nice and will let you cinch them up tight so they can sit higher up (I use suspenders as well, I do not put them over my chest protector, after experimenting with that for awhile). ArdeFIN Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) HPG12A and I don't tuck. I admit it's feeling like a barrel around my waist-thigh area (still needs breaking-in?) and I have a minor problems getting my skates laced. But after that and on the ice, works as it should. That said, select a pant that is high and narrow on waist. That dividing though seems to fade away and most brands are going to one model of pants (per level of play). Like in the history when CCM had Premier and Eflex, Bauer with Supreme and Vapor, Vaughn SLR and Velocity (these I think still exist but are they so much different anymore). There were differencies but one big was how the waist was built. Edited January 3 by ArdeFIN Quote

Using an older pair of Ventus LT88's that I've had forever, don't tuck, can't tuck, will never tuck. No inner belt on mine, so I cinch it a bit tighter, but they work flawlessly. 2 Quote

I’ve got SLR4s and don’t tuck. Love them. Perfect combo of mobility, protection, and space filling. 2 Quote
wigalicous Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Historically i tucked my p1 chestie into bauer pro pants. But now I use a pair of reebok pro pants sans tuck. I am not sure which ccm model these would be comparable to in their current line. I have a warrior g2 pro chest protector that I tried tucking at first because the pants have two nylon buckles that aligned perfectly with attachment points on the belly of the chestie. However, I tried playing with it untucked and felt less restricted so I have gone this season untucked and don't think I will ever go back. Quote

This is likely the route I'm going to go, thanks. 8 hours ago, wigalicous said: I tried playing with it untucked and felt less restricted Yeah this is the main reason I untuck as well. When I have tucked it feels so restricting to rotate at the hips with it all connected. Also when leaning too far forward or scrambling and the sides pop out and won't go back in. It's just cancer to me. Quote
Madmedic6 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I had no issue going untucked in either the sl4 or CCM xf. Quote
Kayen Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) How high does it go up the sides? (SLR) My Warrior RX3 Pro pants have not liked any chest units I've worn untucked and the sides keep getting "tucked" when I'm scrambling around. I tie my units down via belly unit, and it wasn't an issue on my prior CCM Premier Sr pants. Edited January 6 by Kayen Quote

Despite how it looks in pictures in that it's tapered at the top. You'd think a tapered top is exactly what an untucker would like for least interference but again they felt like they sat low and that's most of the issue is my guess. I will comment back here when I pull the trigger on the SLRs if they are indeed good for my picky ass. Searching around a bit for some debating trying some used ones. Quote

No matter how much I cinch the internal belt, or in different configurations - it simply doesn't sit high enough. I've worn the following with my RX3 pants: CCM Premier Pro, Bauer Hyperlite, CCM Axis 1.9, CCM Axis 2, and none of them have cooperated with the pants well - the Premier Pro obviously went well with the Premier pants, even untucked. I actually called THS in BC to ask them what the most tapered pant for a non-tucker would be and was advised a Bauer Pro/Elite, but again i'm also worried about the saggy jeans issue you had mentioned previously.
