aircanuck
I've got two CCM Premier II Pro Authentic sticks (Corey Crawford) and the flaking is pretty bad. Being relatively new to modern equipment, is this pretty consistent with composite sticks or are there some better than others in this department? Being black sticks and having the flakes all over the crease seems to be driving people crazy, they think there is tape on the ice. The more I try your new fangled equipment the more I think I may be a vintage goalie for life. Cheers, Neil
dreadlocked1
My Bauer composite has not flaked nearly as bad as my CCM stick.
Math.
Just got myself a CCM Premier R1.5. Since it's brand new it's holding up fine, I'll let you know if it ever happens and how long it took.
ThatCarGuy
Maybe it's just the CCMs that flake. Neither my True stick nor my Northstar stick have flaked up the crease. In all fairness the paint on the True stick never chipped or anything and it was white. My Northstar stick only has painted letters so there's not much to flake anyways. Mroy31
I had bad flaking with any Bauer stick below the top of the line models. No flaking with 1S or TotalONE sticks. The lower models were just about as durable, just annoying flakes like you described. No experience with CCM sticks though
SaveByRichter35
I haven't noticed any flaking with my CR1 either.
aircanuck
Thanks for the replies! Sounds like I need to shy away from these CCM sticks. I notice when I re-tape it pretty much peels the top layer off the stick, and makes a mess of the blade. It's definitely a sensitive finish. Korppi32
I don´t know about CCM, because my Premier 2 lasted 2,5 ice sessions. My Bauer Reactor 4000s flaked badly but otherwise those were strong sticks. Reactor 6000, NXG and SPro have different kinf of paintings and didn´t flake.
