grant531
So I have Warrior Ritual G4's (Senior) and they have this hole on the upper, outer edge. It is noticeably growing each skate. No idea what could be rubbing in this spot and it is only really happening on one side. I have tried E6000 glue and it peels right off. I have also tried Gorilla Tape and it didn't even last through warm ups. Open to any ideas! Tough spot to fix being on a rounded corner. On a side rant- pretty bummed this happened after 3 months of wear. Warrior has offered to warranty these but I have to pay shipping both ways (which was about $160) and they have a 14 day turnaround plus the 6 days of shipping both ways and going 26+ business days without pads isn't really an option for me. Pretty disappointing because I love these pads otherwise. Hope somebody has some good repair advice!
coopaloop1234
Don't have a lot of advice for repair, but that is an abnormal amount of wear there. I've had my senior RGT's for 2 years now and have maybe a quarter of that wear in that position. If you're curious, this is from your pads rubbing together in your stance. Puckstopper
The wear area appears to be on the outer part of the roll, so not likely to be from rubbing together unless the pads are crazy tall. I'm with cwarner on this one. Use Pad Wrap and layer it. I'd use a smaller piece to cover the damaged area and a larger piece over the patch to keep it in place. Have you asked Warrior if they're willing to ship you a pair first and take your credit card info to ensure you return the defective pair? It doesn't help with the cost of shipping, but at least you could avoid time without gear.

stackem30
If you have a local hockey shop that does repairs, you could have them sew a small piece of leather over it the worn area — it'd likely hold up better than ShoeGoo. A cobbler might even do it for you, if they have materials you'd accept. Totally understand if you'd rather go with a quicker DIY method listed above ^^, but nothing beats a "true" repair in my opinion. And given how quickly and severely the area's worn down, I'd be surprised if a ShoeGoo job holds up for too long.

MangoRhinehart
Thats a lot of wear for that area. I would try to get the warranty from Warrior especially considering the spot it may be a defect in materials or how it was built. Do you lean your hands on your pads or perhaps something on your pants or ca is rubbing it?

My pads are not super tall (dont know my atk off the top of my head but i'm around 6'0" and wearing 34+1.5), I don't lean on them, and I wear a smaller C/A that doesn't extend much past my pants so I don't believe that is rubbing. Pretty stumped! This is on the left pad (which is my glove side)- the right side has a very small spot in the same area but nowhere near as bad. Heard back from Warrior and no luck on putting a deposit and preshipping them however, they said that this isn't a particularly busy time of year and the turnaround could be as little as 5 business days. If I pay for the next tier of shipping that is cut down to 2-3 days one way. While potentially 10-ish days without pads certainly isn't ideal, I guess that is a lot better than 20-some. This was a good idea to try though thanks.

I'm looking into Warrior pads and I'm glad to here customer support is amazing. I was a bit spoiled by RC as far as customer support goes, and then I got Vaughn pads where it took over a week for them to respond to a question about adding a strap. I carry them with the strap that comes with them that hooks into both toe hooks but am careful to take them off my shoulder through tight doorways and all. For storage, I have a big closet with a fan- they sit upright on the floor- nothing leaning against them or anything. I think it is happening on the ice. 7 minutes ago, Puckstopper said: I'd bet it would be even quicker. Their customer service when I had an issue with my C/A was second to none. MTH
For the wearing - My guess is that you either rest your glove on the top of the pads (and don't realize it), or while getting into your stance, your arm or glove rubs against the top of the pad. I know while I'm resting - when the puck is at the other end - I tend to sit like this: I'd bet the wet pads + wet glove = the wear you're getting
Colander
Well, if @MTH is correct, check your glove(s) for an equivalent wear spot. Also just to throw it into the ring, as no one else has - how about your pants?

Either can cause burn spots. IMO, the odds are very slim that wear in that specific spot was caused by gloves as OP has only had the gear for about a month. It happens a lot, and I have made that repair.
MangoRhinehart
You could always throw a bunch of chalk powder on the wear spot then get on the ice and see where it rubs off.
jayluv54
usually occurs from gloves rubbing the tops of the pads. can be from something as simple as tapping your pads back into place after recoveries. Sometimes were don't consciously do these things, they just become a habit. Some padskinz applied with some heat should help. I might have a little bit of Red laying around that I'd send you if your in the states. The color might also help identify where the rubbing is coming from. At this point, I think I am going to just send them in for warranty. I think what the previous posters mentioned about maybe a sharp spot sounds right on. Thanks again though for the offer. And thanks everyone for the good ideas and advice!
