big seven o
Hi all, I have been on the search for my next pads, but I haven't found a setup that I really liked. I am hoping to get a demo set of 2X's in a few weeks, but if I don't like them I don't really know where to go from there. I was wondering, does anyone has any experience building custom pads from a smaller manufacturer? If so, which company? Would it be possible to build EFlex clones with maybe a harder face and a few other tweaks? I apologize, despite my neediness when it comes to gear, I have a very poor understanding of the custom landscape. Thanks in advance!

I'd highly recommend Passau or Kenesky You do know that the P2 is essentially what you've described?

I have a set of P2 gloves currently. yes I do know the P2 would fit my needs and I was about to pull the trigger on a set, however I demoed a set and to be honest, I don’t know what it was, but they just didn’t feel right. They felt boxy I guess, and wearing them made me a little fatigued. I train 5 days a week though and am on the ice a lot.

Their options are by far one of the best for "big name retail" Drop @GoalieTimmy33 a line at Passau. They'll do full bespoke custom, but I'm not 100% sure about "hot rebounds." They also just released a new platform for their pads

However, I am looking more towards an EFlex design with the hot rebounds of the P2. I will definitely look into Passau, thanks for the recommendation. Chenner29
Kenesky can do a full custom pad for you. My most recent set has a soft core with stiff face, inset leg and boot channel, and custom strapping. Give them a look.

TheGoalNet
@big seven o - You touched on one of my favorite points here... Made to order VS true custom or Tailored vs Bespoke as I like to think about it. All of the big boys only do custom which is basically a tailoring. They will take their standard product and tailor it to meet your needs. The extent of the tailoring services varies by company. Brian's and CCM have the two strongest programs in my eyes. Brian's will do anything within reason for a charge and CCM will let you order anything off the menu for a fixed price with no substitutions. By contrast, Passau will build something Bespoke for you. You could move the location of the knee block, the length of the boot, etc etc. I don't know if you need a true Bespoke, but I like to point out the difference. With that said, CCM P2 is the most complete pad on the market. It basically finishes first or 2nd in every major category for me among the products i I have test. I would be shocked if you can't customize it to fit your needs

The P2 is by no means a bad pad and it is a great option, however I am not completely in love with it.

GoalieTimmy33
Late to conversation but appreciate the recommendations of Passau. In additions to our almost unlimited customization options, you get to work with a pro rep from our company directly to help select your specs. That latter piece is super important as it will help validate the decisions you're making and hopefully yield some spec ideas you may have not thought of. Please feel free to email me directly.
