I think we should revise the criteria to get in. May not be so much as the age of the car as it is the miles.

If you've been at it since youth, say 7 or 8, and make it to 30, 22 to 23 years in net should get you in.

Got a goalie practice set for 11/22. A bag of pucks and three skaters who can bomb. Should be a good test to see whether my thigh/knee can handle it. Fingers crossed

So goalie practice is confirmed for tonight. Got a case of the nerves in that I am concerned I will stink the joint out, not to mention how my thigh will hold up. Mrs and I moved about 18 months ago and no clue where the GoPro is packed away. Had hoped to show film so younger and better goalies learn what not to do. Give it my best and see where it lands.

Started playing goal on outdoor rinks in 1959, retired from playing goal March 29, 2024 at age of 74, averaging 70-80 games per season for the past 40 years. Yes my body feels it, hip and knee replacements, two shoulder operations for a rotator cuff injury and now arthritis.

Whereas hockey damaged my body over the past 10 seasons, now 4 mornings a week in the pool taking AquaFit Classes are helping it. Not as much fun though as nobody hangs around the dressing room post game until someone mentions a post game beer.  Yes, I am getting old.

But seeing as how I spent 9 months in the hospital with Polio (1953-54) I have no right to complain having enjoyed being involved in sports nearly all my life

My 10 year old Granddaughter is a goalie, Full Right. Her team is 11 and 4 with 7 shutouts.

The goalie practice went ahead last night. Myself and three shooters. A retired ECHL D-man, his dad, a long time Dman who is physical monster despite his age, an injured center in junior, and a crate of pucks. I got work to do. My left thigh held up pretty good and stayed where it belongs. I lack confidence in it though but made some progress in my head on that. Low stick side is a problem. No pain during the practice but some discomfort. Swelling isnt too bad. I need several more of these before being ready for scrimmage.

A few positives, though. For me, I tend to get a little afraid of the puck after being out for an extended time. 13 months since last time I faced live rounds. Not a problem last night especially after I took one in the dome in the first few minutes. My endurance and flexibility are pretty good but off ice shape is not the same as hockey shape. So I am pretty much an overall mess today in a good way. Bottom line: not ready to stop playing and I am lucky.

Final got to play again last night. First time on the ice in almost 7 months, minus some public sessions with the kid. Felt good to be back out there. Managed a 3-1 win. I'm pretty sore this morning. I've been stretching and working out, but nothing really replicates being on the ice.

Absolute _hit Friday night. You'll see for yourself when video is done.

I was just awful. In the words of Al Cervik from Caddyshack, "I should have stayed home and played with myself".
