Many goalies are using this gear in the tournament.

TheGoalNet
@MTH - Not defending Axis, I’ll be the first to comment that I don’t see much or any “first to market” features on Axis pads, glove, or blocker. However, it’s def not a Bauer rip off. In fact, I thought maybe Axis would be more Bauer like and it’s not. Many NHL guys using EF have an NHL only spec X Stiff core. Your standard pro right now likes a stiff core, flexible boot, and square inside sliding edge. That’s exactly what the Axis + improved rebound velocity over P2. CCM made a retail product that perfectly matches what their pro clients are steering them towards. Yes, there is printing, but it’s not at all like Bauers. This is basically just another color zone option as CCM tries to appeal to the goalie of tomorrow. I think the specs are Axis are very well thought out for what most goalies want. However, time will tell is Axis makes the same level transition forward that OD1N did.

dreadlocked1
I thought the name Axis sounded a bit roller hockey, but that looks 100% inline lol. Love inline, don't get me wrong, but many many years ago on GSBB this... Well this just didn't happen on ice. Gotta find a Tour or Mission goalie pic now. Still excited to see what's new. RBK was my pad before Warrior and I wanted to see a modernized Premier pad. But with the split at CCM, lots of possibilities.

This has been the knock against printing and why companies shyd away from it. Printing can make graphics with limitless potential. Since roller hockey did it first and 90s pros would have never used the gear, it got a stigma around being cheap and it will probably never be shaken with older goalies. companies are very conscious about what they think they can sell and staying away from what probably won’t sell. It’s one of the things limiting mask safety improvements. If we didn’t think it looked good, we wouldn’t wear it
JDiv
The graphic is growing on me each time I see it. I think the first time I said “wow I really like this graphic” was when the @TheGoalNet posted the video of the Austrian goalie in his butterfly. It might be the best looking graphic in that position, and looks like in certain color ways could play some eye tricks on players. Not completely sold yet on the fade-away color zone yet, especially in red. I think someone else pointed out it looks like a pad that’s rubbed up against the post, but that could just be because of the white base. Big2
Fully agree on your point that they are growing on you, I already like them. I have to say that the faded zone I also like, that’s the area that plays tricks on my eyes. Other than aesthetic’s that look like they are very flat on the ice when on the B fly which most goalies will appreciate.

I have told CCM directly this, haha With everyone of their new graphics I think, finally a stinker. Then I see the customizer and there is always a way to make it fit your eye. I hated EF4 at first and that red set is one of my best.
ZeroGravitas
Some mildly interesting 2020 CCM news... When you go to the EF4 customizer page (https://ccmhockey.com/en/product/goalie/customizers/extremeflex-4), CCM has posted the 2020 EF4 customizer PDF (http://microsites.ccmhockey.com/microsites/eflex/core/imgs/2020CCM_GoalieCustomizer_EFlex.pdf) When you look really closely at the 2020 customizer and the 2019 customizer, you see some little tweaks in the images... Above are the EF4 cuff options as they appear in the older 2019 customizer PDF. We're all pretty familiar with this. Below are the EF4 cuff options as they appear in the new 2020 customizer PDF. CCM is changing the cuffs up for Axis. And it looks like a new curve is coming to the custom stick options. I put together a shitty comparison below Edited December 29, 2019 by ZeroGravitas
Puckstopper
Looks like the Fleury and Holtby patterns are being added back and the original Price is gone. It's good they're adding more custom options since they are cutting back on retail offerings:

wox33
The images on the Axis chest protector look interesting. The belly segmentation looks very different. Not a fan of the massive looking shoulder floaters though.

I still can't believe those were legal.

They aren't the same size the 25 CCM falls a little smaller and the 26 are just too big. I know they aren't much but I like the little extra height warrior has but a 26 CCM is just too tall for me. have a brand new CCM stick sitting at home in its wrapper because of this. I use to use 25 6K sticks but found my blocker side suffering from the short paddle. Edited January 8, 2020 by Quadzilla32
Puckstopper
Not much meat here, but more info than anyone else has offered :https://ingoalmag.com/news/ccm-axis-initial-on-ice-impressions/ I like the feedback on the glove. Hopefully it feels a little more "Vaughn-ish".
