Matt
Appreciate the feed back. After some debate I order a pair of the DLC blades. My original plan this year was to buy a extra set of blades so he'd have two (it can be hard to find good sharpener at tournaments and such). With the premium blades being so much taller, he really can't alternate between his current stock blades and the new ones. So I opened up the wallet a bit more for hopefully better durability. I order the Blades on the weekend and they came Wednesday. One note. I had no problem seating these blades in the holder. I think they may have gone in his skates a touch easier than the stock blades... The black looks pretty cool too @Aquilzz I decided to give the goalie sam profile a go. He's used to I think a 28" profile or close to that. Its a low risk test really. If he hates it I'm out $30 to get them re-profiled. He's back on the ice next week, so we'll see what he thinks.. Puckducker
So, I got a pair of Standard Step Steel runners today. Went to pop out the old runners on my Bauer 9000's, and the screw/bolt on the one skate snapped in half (with half now stuck inside the nut)! Does anyone if these screws are any kind of standard hardware part, or would it be something I'd need to source from a pro-shop?

southpawtendy48
Thought I would bring this topic back up again. Just found out that I was one size too high, so technically speaking I’m a junior size (5) and when I went to get my first ever skates I guess the 6 was senior pricing, and they basically just wanted the extra money. weird thing is it felt ok to me over time, but as time went on my main concern was how uncomfortable my s170s were more than the sizing, and had to wear two socks for them to fit. Then came the S29s, and they came with the LS2G steel (yuck), has two skates in with them then I ordered the LS5G vertexx carbon. I haven’t sharpened them yet as I just got them but, here’s the height difference.
itis121
I actually want to know the hardness of stock steel compared to aftermarket. I have access to a Rockwell Hardness Tester at school with my profs permission. I was planning on testing it last semester but studying got in the way. There was some crazy steel in the ‘90s that was a nightmare to sharpen on some skates. The steel was CRAZY hard!!! It came on Tuuk Custom plus that was grey. It allows for a more aggressive stance and quicker recoveries because you don't have to lift your leg as high to move from side to side. @BauerHockey47 Any chance you’d be up for giving us an AS1 review? You did stock or 3D fit?

Sorry for the delay. I'll be happy to do a review in the near future. I have the stock skates with superfeet footbeds. (I pulled the trigger about two months before I heard CCM was bringing 3D fit to retail.
