It sounds like Passau is the only company left without a uniform a paddle height with the industry. Great info!

The other way around. Passau is (one of) the only one(s) with a paddle height that is measured in actual inches. The rest of the industry needs to start doing that.

Actual Lie Comparison

Albeit rudimentary... I downloaded a protractor app... snapped some picture... so I could share what I found when comparing two sticks of nearly identical paddle heights when the lie differs. As noted in posts just thrown up... the Passau Foam Core has an actual paddle length of 27.5" and a lie of 63 (117) while the Bauer 2S Pro has an actual paddle length of 27.25" and a lie of 60 (120.) Worth noting is that grip shapes are nearly identical as well.

1773002013_PFCH21Lie.jpg.482a116d42ede40d85e405ea8d2c2459.jpg 1965741268_2SPLie.jpg.6b532dc978e4c8fc34c0a8fe172a0ac2.jpg

First step was to get each blade laying as flat as possible then line up heals. (My apologies for the use of a black piece of furniture when taking pictures of a black stick.) At that point I used a green ball at the toes of the 2S Pro from sliding further out, and a blue ball under the shaft of the Passau to maintain it's Lie Angle when heals were lined up.

We immediately see the difference 3 degrees makes as the Passau is at a steeper angle and the visible portion of the stick gets more pronounced the further up you go. Now for the important part... how is it changing the grip position. Again, keeping in mind these sticks are marginally different in paddle length, you can clearly see a decent effect it has on grip position down and out. Taking measurements from where the shaft and paddle meet on each stick... I saw a .25" push outward... and a .75" push downward. Thus... even when they're nearly identical paddle heights... the 2S Pro "PLAYS SHORTER"

Sidenote... anxious to get the playhouse (which has turned into a storage facility for oversized stuffed animals and extra mini sticks) out of the basement. So shoot me some offers if you're interested in making the investment.

I've been away from playing for awhile about 4 years and latley as i scour all the equipment store websites the selection of brands is frustrating. I have 2 cheap Bauer sticks that i like but they'll need to be replaced soon.. i know i can get a couple more months out of them but they're going soft.

I want to try a new brand. I wish there were more brand options available. Saw a really nice Vaughn and the True's look good.

Looking for 25" paddle along the lines of a P30 or possibly PP41.

My favorite stick was an Itech stick patterned after Brent Johnson when he was on the Blues. That one always felt just right.

I have the eflex 4 and like it. Also, highly recommend Bauer supreme sticks.

IMO Bauer makes the best sticks.

Hi, I have a few questions about the goalie sticks.

1. Which curve in WARRIOR is same as Bauer P31 curve ?

2. Warrior don’t sell Rask curve anymore. And which curve is more similar RASK curve in rest of 3 curves?

Hi Leo,

1. Our Bishop (TWT) pattern is closest to the P31 curve

2. From the standpoint of having an "open toe" the Mrazek (WDG) pattern would be most similar performance wise to the Rask.  Very noticeable difference between Mrazek/Rask is that Mrazek has a rounded toe while Rask did not.

Does anyone know how the True sticks measure up when compared with their listed size and the way to measure like the picture?

Or CCM or Bauer sticks?

Currently using 26" Frontier 9985G that measure 27.5".  Seemingly they are discontinued and currently can't get anymore.

This seems to correspond with a 26" Warrior but have some good options on others.

Does anyone know which CCM stick is closest to Bauer’s Supreme lines? I’ve used Bauer for the last couple years and loved them, but I have to use CCM next year so I’m wondering if the EFlex line or Axis is closest to an Ultrasonic stick

I Believe Eflex is closest due to its "soft flex"

Here is an example of paddle length discrepancy between brands and within same brands.

All the sticks pictured are listed as 25. The first 2 sticks are from JRZ, same model, just different color. The 3rd pic is a Warrior VR2.

There seems to be a 1/2 inch difference between both the JRZ sticks and a full inch difference with the Warrior stick. This seems to follow the same issues we face with leg pad length from one brand to another. I wish there was an established standard to avoid said discrepancy when ordering/buying sticks.

So I put each stick flush to the wall via the paddle edge and the difference is remarkable and disappointing at the same time.

The first mark, #1, is the white JRZ stick. The second mark, #2, is the natural JRZ stick. The third mark, #3, is the Warrior stick.

Keep in mind that they are all sold as 25".
