bunnyman666 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 All GSBB vets will get the reference. The gear is definitely good. I understand why people were still willing to spend money with him. These have been heavily campaigned, as evidenced by the patching. I am reducing the finger curl in the trap. I need to patch the thumb plate on the blocker. 1 Quote
MTH Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 I feel excited seeing those gloves. Like when we used to climb the rope in gym class. 1 1 Quote
insertnamehere Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) I had a set just like that. They were good, but needed somewhat regular application of snoseal to keep them from becoming super waterlogged. They also had the ability to change out the board on the blocker for a color change on the holes. Edited February 28, 2022 by insertnamehere 1 Quote
Wonder35 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 This 10+ year old leather beauty is my #1 Trapper. It is huge. 1 1 Quote

Wonder35 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) I bought my set of all leather pads and gloves about 12 years ago. A few months later this other Trapper (no Canada logo) appeared on eBay. I paid $100 for it. After comparison usage I settled on it as my go to glove. Some GSBB people may recall a graphic artist from New England (Sports Nics). He did this cartoon of me. Edited February 28, 2022 by Wonder35 5 1 Quote
Wonder35 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 The initial application of SnoSeal to my leather pads. Notice how much they darken the leather. I was OK with that as back in the day we used to bathe our leather gear in Dubbin and some other liquid potions which also darkened the leather. Eventually these products destroyed the felt liner in our gear. I'm OK with SnoSeal. 3 Quote

RichMan Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Scott makes good gear and has longtime experience. I drueled over his 2000 model pads from his beginnings for a long time. Never was able to save for a pair. Very curious about his newer chest pad. Quote

It’s unfair (to a degree) that his graphic rip offs have overshadowed his good building skills; of course taking forever and a day doesn’t help his reputation, either. Quote
bunnyman666 Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 Leather definitely plays softer than Jenpro. Not a particularly bad thing at all, unless you like crazy, flying rebounds from your blocker. I felt like I had more control of the puck as far as my hands were concerned. 1 Quote
