Llew81
Just received my JRZ fusion2 set and thought I'd put up some pics so people can see what they look like as there isn't really anything available for them at the moment. Overall I'm very happy, though I am a little disappointed with the red colour. In the customiser the standard red appears very bright (too bright for me) so I went with their 'cranberry' which looked a dark shade of red better suited to the jersey I was trying to match to. Unfortunately this 'cranberry' is significantly less red and more a maroon/burgundy sort of a colour.. it just about works but not what I was hoping for (my fault rather than anything to do with JRZ). It's fairly stock I think (bit hard to know as it's not official yet and I was just talking through what I wanted with Simon who is incredibly helpful).. pads are 33 +2.5 straight thigh rise with no breaks, soft 110deg boot . Glove is their version of a 580 with a 90deg angle (you wouldn't want this particular glove though) I don't have any fingers on my left hand so this is designed to stay open as much as possible. Not entirely sure what they did, I just left it in their hands and it works. I asked them to put in the 'professor strap' and calf pillow. The pillow I think is stock although there is no mention of it in the customiser, the professor strap was an extra but done at no cost. Blocker is stock with thick poly. I think I have a fairly average sized right hand and I would say the middle finger in particular of the blocker is maybe a little short (other fingers are fine). You can get a larger size palm. There are a few areas with a little excess material particularly under the boot. Comparison picks at the end are with my current Vaughn SLR2's (the non carbon version).

NoProZero
That's really awesome that they were able to custom make that glove for you. How does it stay on your hand without having any fingers? Do you just wrench it down really tight on your wrist? I'm very intrigued to see how it is worn.
Llew81
I just wrench the 2 straps as much as I can.. in the pic, the gold weave strap goes over the back of my hand and then the wrist strap is on the wrist.. I am lucky in that I have a thumb which is pretty normal if a little small. It is big enough to go in the thumb part and I can also then wrench the thumb loops tight on it.. Here's a pic of my hand.. it always makes me laugh when people make such a fuss about how gloves close etc.. I don't have a huge amount of experience with gloves.. a warrior g4, Vaughn SLR pro carbon and I also tried a CCM premiere 2 int with a d30 specked palm. You'll be surprised at how few pop outs you get if the shape of the glove itself is good at funneling the puck into the pocket.. closing the thing really seems quite secondary Edited June 1, 2022 by Llew81

This is an awesome set of pads and gloves. For comparison, what is your size in Vaughn? If the JRZ gloves are good, I might have to think about them when I am able to get a custom set. keeperton
Pad strapping looks very Brian's, though a lot of strapping is similar on pads I suppose. These look great and I hope they perform well for you.

This would translate to either a 34+ 1 or a 34+1.5 in JRZ, as I have a 20.5" ATK. @keeperton, how does the JRZ strapping resemble Brian's? MadsM
What a beautiful set! A few questions, how much did it cost? And is the sliding surface just normal jenpro weave or do they also have a fancy material for sliding?

Haven't used them yet. I'm not expecting them to be quite as good sliding as the Vaughn's which have the quickslide, but hopefully will be good enough.. cld always try adding that 3m tape people talk about if really necessary. 1
estogoalie
Nice set. I heard of JRZ, but didn't know the deal with them. Read up on their website a little, I remember they did something for/with Bauer, but seems they are 100% their own thing now. Price and quality looks good. Regarding the colors, did you check on different computers? Sometimes depending on the monitor, etc. they can vary. Personally, I like the dark "Latvian red" you got there. If it doesn't match your jersey, then ask your team to make new jerseys, or find a new team
chile57
@estogoalie FYI - JRZ was THE builder for Itech back in the day (RX9, X-Wing, etc.) and then became the builder for Bauer when Bauer bought up Itech. I forget the last line they did with Bauer (Reactor maaaybe?) before parting ways and putting out their own brand. Believe that JRZ was dropped after Bauer switched to the new Od1n style of pads. 1

I remember seeing some pro return 1Xs with the JRZ badge but they disappeared after that?

Mostly in the outer flap and the big Y strap on the calf going to the outside. As said, only so much one can do with strapping and it's not an insult/insinuation anyhow. Comparing it with what I know, more so.
ilyazhito
Interesting. I haven't seen any modern Brian's pad, so I would know about that. CCM was really straightforward (knee strap, calf strap, Quick Motion strap, and boot strap). Bauer was a little more complicated with having to get the CRS strap between the knee and calf exactly right. Brian's is probably somewhere between CCM and Bauer in complexity, based on your description. If JRZ is similar to Brian's, it isn't the simplest system, but will become straightforward the Morehouse use it.

Brians is credited with being the first to mass-produce pads with elastic straps instead of leather, calling them the Brians Smart Strap on the GNetik 4 model, they have evolved and become larger and wider. the photo below shows that the JRZ strapping systems are almost identical to Brians and I think this system is the simplest and most convenient
Yzueblin
Jrz was the last Canadian made bauer factory for 1x i had fuzion 1 and now the classic fuzion 2 fuzion 1 was a mix of Brian’s optik and 1x ! with fuzion 2 you have more option to custom the pad like you want ! Softer boot , S pre-curve or angle. A new strapping system similar to the gnetik The pads give rebound similar to the Brian’s optik too.. the stiffness is a in between of bauer and Brian’s max core the only thing jrz miss is special sliding material

estogoalie
I have G-netik 2's, and the leg channel strapping is pretty good. But the velcro toe-tie thing was too "stretchy" for me, I had to put skate laces on to keep the pads from wobbling around (I'm old skool tho, younger guys like that wobbly shit, so whatever floats your boat.) Also the velcro boot strap didn't work out well, as the velcro started peeling off after 1-2 seasons. Now I have to tape it every time I dress to keep it from falling off.
