After years of using Rubatex, I switched to Dual Density Poron Colours - Black/Black overlay Firmness - Soft Properties - Neoprene blend base foam with a 1/8" overlay of soft Poron material. l’ve had this in my mask for about 18 months now. Biggest difference I notice is that when taking a decent shot off the mask, I don’t get any kind of ringing at all. Just sort of a quiet “thump” and that’s it. I believe that’s due to the poron absorbing more energy than the rubatex. Take this as anecdotal evidence only - I have not done any testing at all.

Yes, we definitely suffer from these white pads. A lot of this stuff dates back to the days of Fleury and his sport gold pads. Some dummy ophthalmologist wrote a letter telling him his color of pads made it easier for the shooter to score on you and next thing, you know the whole leagues is in white. Nowadays, you have goalie coaches and management with restrictions on what color pads can be used. Some goalie coaches insist that the outer roll be white no matter what. I believe that’s a Vancouver thing. Anyways. I don’t think the shooter gives a shit what color your pads are. Shooters also operate on the subconscious and they practice plenty to know where the net is and know where the corners are. They don’t particularly even care where we’re positioned at. They’re just shooting for particular spot the net in a certain situation - bottom line.

You should replace the webbing - that may help a lot. Put it at a fixed spot you prefer and secure it with the chin up screws. Search “Nash Goalie Chin Cup” and you’ll find a bunch of retailers that sell those. Or you could buy direct from Nash https://www.nashsports.ca Good luck!

All the modern Bauer pads will generally be the stiffest of pads out there with big rebounds (by design). True will be less stiff, though still stiff, and have a little more flexibility. Any of the Bauer pads you mentioned will give you a very good idea of the feel of the more expensive Bauers

I just used the insoles that came with the skate. I don’t think you’ll need super feet - the fit is incredible.

Everything is solid. The molding process is like nothing you’ve been thru before. Plus, you have the liners which also get molded. There is very little negative space in these skates. They are extremely comfortable.

Yes. I’m a EE and am always concerned about width fit. These are great. No issues In fact, I would bet very few people are going to have a fit issue. This heating process and liners are great. ive had one skate in mine and they are incredible. V-Slide pushes are noticeably more powerful, you can recover from the V back to stance easier, and you can get a very deep stance. Plus these are the most comfortable skates you’ll ever wear. No more lace bite, no more Bauer bump. These skates absolutely live up to the hype.

I have the 8’s. Box and shell sizing says 8-8.5 so I’m guessing you’ll have no problem once baked.

Does the liner have to be heat molded in the skate? I ask because I think it would be interesting to have 2 sets of liners to swap out. But if a second liner meant baking the skate a 2nd time it might not be ideal. I picked skates these up last week - waiting for my store to get the oven in to get them baked!

In the Maltese I did several times. Always withstood the shot. Great product. Fortunately, I have not been hit in the neck area with the Aegis yet

I played for eight years with a Maltese before getting a aegis. Aegis is lighter and has better coverage.
