Current Equipment

  • Leg Pads
    Optik 2 - Max Core
  • Review:
Love 'em; slide like a dream. Good balance of flex in the boot and stiffness in the upper portion.
  • Glove
    Optik 2
  • Review:
Really like the boa on the hand. Also like the custom options - was able to get an INT palm to better fit my hands. Feels more secure than my old Vaughn glove
  • Blocker
    Optik 2
  • Review:
Lighter than my prior blockers. The board produces good distance on rebounds similar to the leg pad.
  • Chest & Arm Protector
    Bauer 2x Pro
  • Review:
Love it; absolute tank. Great mobility, great protection.
  • Pants
    CCM E-flex 2
  • Review:
Good pants. Really like the internal belt.
  • Mask
    Bauer NME8
  • Review:
    It works. Nothing special.
  • Stick
    True 4.5
  • Review:
Really like it; a lot lighter than my old Warrior pro model. We'll see how it holds up.
  • Skates - Boot
    CCM AS3 Pro Goal
  • Review:
Won these at GM. Have had a limited amount of on-ice time, but I love the feel and stiffness. The difference between these and my S27s is very noticeable.
  • Skate - Cowling
    None
  • Skates - Blades
    Step 3mm
  • Review:
A huge upgrade from the stock steel on my S27s. Although I put in 4mm steel before I won my AS3s, after going back to 3mm on the AS3s, I think I'm going to stick with the narrower steel...easier for me to move without losing much on the side/side pushes.
  • Knee Pads
    Brians pads
  • Review:
Came w/ my O2s. Like them and they work well with my leg pads. Not as stout as my Warrior knee pads, but they're a good balance between size/coverage.
  • Neck Guard
    Bauer S18
  • Review:
Significant upgrade from my old Vaughn model.
  • Jock
    Vaughn SLR Pro
  • Review:
    Bulletproof.

Wish List

  • Mask
    Sportsmask Pro3i
  • Stick
    True AX 9 / CCM EF4

  1. Along the same lines as posted above - re: SkinFx, I had similar issues. I got through the design process with Mark. It took months (I can go get the chat history from my email if requested) to get a mock-up of my requested design. The design itself was o.k. (reasonable for the price paid/quoted). After too much time had passed, I decided to pull my money and had my mask painted elsewhere. I'd be wary to use SkinFx again, only because of the time/need for follow-up.
  2. Joining the chorus - I went from SLR1 to Optik2 to Ultrasonic - each were a step up in rebound velocity. I'm still shocked sometimes at how hot pucks come off my US set even after a year plus of usage. If you're looking for the hottest rebounds - Bauers are the way to go.
  3. All - looking for some input on C&A customization. For background, I'm currently in a Vapor 2x. I like the mobility, dislike the strapping. Also currently selling my back-up - an O2. Love the protection, dislike the mobility (or lack thereof). Have an unique body type - barrel chest (44") broad shoulders and short (5'7") with short arms (wrestler in my younger years). Considering a Kenesky, a Brown or another Bauer (through PH). Would also consider another O2...but would be very hesitant. I've been impressed with Kenesky's online customizer because it provides for input for different measurements that would help dial in the fit. I'm assuming given prior contact with Brown, that the experience would be similar. I'm not as sure as buying the Bauer one...but I'm familiar with the customization team at PH and they were great to work with when I bought my Ultrasonics. I've heard anecdotally that Brown's C&A is heavier, runs hotter than others...but that would seem like an issue for someone playing at a higher level...not a weekend warrior like myself. Any input y'all can provide on this topic would be very much appreciated.
  4. None of the above. Although, I've only tried on/used the V8. Didn't like it and switched to a Vapor 2x. Much prefer the Vapor, but can't speak to Supreme.
  5. Hoping to revive this topic, but looking for some feedback on the calf/upper/TFC/professor strap or whatever silly name it's been given. Has anyone: (1) purchased a set of US, (2) installed the strap, and (3) had issues with the strap coming undone while playing? I just got my set 2 weeks ago and without fail the calf/upper/TFC/professor strap has come undone on the attachment point in each of the four skates I've used them. My solution was to run some tape around the connection point, but unsure if anyone (a) else has a different solution or (b) knows if the mount on the Hyperlite is different/same, and if so, whether the strap will be available with the new mount at retail?
  6. Sweet colors - thanks for the update.
  7. Lemme know how the pants turn out - looking to get a new pair, but not sure which to get.
  8. I find the chest/ribs super protective - I had a couple guys this past weekend who caught me in areas that would have left a mark in my old Vaughn unit. The arms aren’t as mobile (as my 2x pro) or beefy like the chest - took a nice welt off of the upper biceps the first time I wore the unit.
  9. I can’t speak for prep level players, but I have a 2x pro that I love - super mobile, comfortable right out of the box. I like it a lot more than my prior Vaughn (mobility issues) and CCM (fell apart on me in the aughts). I also just grabbed an Optik 2 (GM has a glitch that discounted it by like 30%). Super beefy but stiff and immobile out of the box compared to the 2x pro. I also have questions re the stock arms on any chestie as I have had ongoing issues with the occasional welt on the upper biceps area. Good luck on the purchase.
  10. Brian’s is still making PPE for hospitals, etc.
  11. I just saw @Taco's post. GM still has the O2 chestie on clearance while the O1 chestie is essentially full price. I just bought a 2x pro, but I couldn't pass up. Seems like a huge mistake, but that's on GM. Fingers crossed that they honor the deal and ship the chestie.
  12. Using a Bauer 2x pro c/a with warrior x2 pants. I use the internal belt to keep the pants up high, tuck the c/a and tie it down with the laces. I also put the suspenders over my c/a with mrazek straps. On my old C/A pants, I used to keep everything untucked, untied but I got tired of getting whacked along the seam of the pants/chestie. Since switching, I haven't been disappointed.
  13. Anyone tried these on recently? How do they compare size/width wise to other Graf skates w/ cowlings? My local stores don't have any peak speeds in stock and I want to try something on before dropping $600 online for a new set of wheels.
  14. Sorry if I'm late to the party, but did you notice anything with the "cover edge" or whatever it's called (especially with the trapper)??? The change in angles seems intriguing.
