Aaaaaaaanyway, I like the line name change to set up Mach 1, Mach 2, Mach 3 iterations for the next little while. Nice touch (assuming they stay in that direction)

@Chenner29 Not nearly as egregious this year, but these came to mind. True you kind of have to also flip the right/left pads. Admittedly were probably in "lots of different ideas will have commonalities" territory at this point haha

So are we thinking they use an upside down True graphic for this line?

It's kind of hard to judge, not sure if I didn't let it set fully or properly or what. From the directions I read for things like vinyl seat repair, it seemed like it would set pretty firmly. It definitely held the gash shut, but if I ran my finger against the layer on top I could kind of roll/peel it away as it felt kind of soft. On the other hand, playing hockey didn't seem to cause any wear to it, so I just stopped touching it and never really thought of it again. So I think it is the right tool for the job, it just may require some practice or expert advice. Could also be that the cortech skin just doesn't let the goop adhere the same as vinyl?

The way they've built it I wouldn't be too worried about it breaking. It's like a 90 degree plate with the foam sandwiched on it. I used M*****r knee blocks that I stitched to a pad backing myself for over a year that didn't rip off, so I don't think butterfly drops are going to be a problem for a molded 90 degree bracket. But new tech/designs are always a bit of a question mark

So @mr_shifty1982 what is it about the materials that you find so suspect? The 2s pro arms I found absolutely nothing wrong with, so wondering if they are trying some major material change along with the elbow design? Could also be psychological that you've influenced what @Hockey1234 considers a stinger now

Ah, got it. I haven't seen one up close but that's something I'd say most of the Supreme line feels like for sure. There's a similar feeling with all the OD1N style pads, where they feel very thin and like it's just kind of a board on the front of your leg. It's hard to describe, but the thinner stuff does feel harder to compensate and it starts to really feel normal pretty quickly. I totally get that initial aversion to the stuff though.

I've been using the 2S Pro, had an NXG for a bit a while ago too, the 2S is like a space age NXG honestly. Think curve composite making it feel lighter, but still solid. Doesn't wrap around you like a Vaughn or the more "mobile" units, so I can understand when people say they "feel" like it's not protective, but if you already liked the fit of it then I think you'll be good especially for just 2 years. @mr_shifty1982 @ThatCarGuy is it the new elbow floater design you guys are spooked by? The body looks like another NXG iteration, but don't see why the elbows would be less protective.

Nope, no ice around me yet I don't think. I feel like these would saturate pretty fast haha. I do wonder what the goalie equivalent of the full plastic shield Bauer is making for players would be though.

Like $14 or something, bought them a month ago but were on backorder. The homemade alternatives weren't cutting it anymore, all my elastics were too tight and even tried some CRS stretch lace (not a joke) but it's not actually so stretchy in short amounts apparently. The other colour was red white and blue stars that I wasn't so hot on. They're reversible and the black one has camo on the other side, is that more or less cool?

Pulled the trigger and picked up a couple new Bauer masks from the LHS. They fit great and make me feel safer out there. Don't affect my sight lines, ventilation is about as good as can be expected.

I think the price point and durability arguments are hyperbole though. Anyone can have a bad experience with durability of any brand. It just takes a one off set to go south to sour someone. Like someone else mentioned earlier, the durability issues have been put to bed since 2SPro. Using the USD/CAD exchange to say that a custom Bauer set costs over $4k doesn't make sense. Don't buy from the US if you're in Canada, CAD retail is only ever a couple hundred at most more than the USD retail if you buy from a Canadian dealer. The graphic is lacking, but arguing that it's to drive everyone to the custom route is a bit of a stretch. They're not perfect by any means, but there's a middle ground between Perfect All The Time and Shit Quality Greedy Fat Cats

That cleared up a question I had about the knee block. Was wondering how it was integrated to the pad. Like a plug straight into the pad, or if it was like if you carved the whole pad from one piece of foam So it's like an L shaped piece that would be plugged into the core from the inside edge of the pad I guess? Seems pretty solid.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, my "ugh" wasn't like "this is horrible and I hate it" but more like they are sooo close to something that could be pretty sweet. I really like your colour combo, but it feels like you need 3 colours to really make it pop. Just 1 or 2 more zones and I feel like I could play around a lot more with it. Realistically though, if we look at the releases of each line since 1S, there's a little more towards custom options being added each year. I honestly wasn't expecting them to be making their professor strap (TuneFit Connect I guess is the name) available in the customizer this year.

Ugh, that large middle section needs to be split into top, bottom and the lines and it would open up the graphic so much more

It baffles me how floppy the 1S knee blocks were. I put aftermarket blocks on with just a curved needle, stitched to the face of the pad, and they were as stable as the stock blocks. 2S were so much better already, these look really interesting

Gotcha, I thought you were pointing out something a lot smaller. Yeah that would go in line with my thinking on what happens when any, formerly small/separate, piece of the knee stack fails or needs replacing. It almost looks like there's an extra piece of jenpro stitched to the edge of the knee block and the elastic strap is attached to that instead of internal to the knee block? Like there's a loop in the elastic strap, you can kind of see what looks like an extra line of stitching in the strap. It still doesn't look adjustable, but the build of the tabs on this set seems like maybe TGN's set has some non-retail versions of things, and maybe there will be an adjustable version at retail? I've always wanted that main calf wrap strap to be adjustable too, but doesn't look like it is either.

Which tab do you mean? My understanding so far is that the block is all one piece and part of the actual pad, so the grippy/padded landing pad is sewn together with the rest of the material that covers the block. But that's basically built off of observing and assuming based on posts like these. That made me wonder though if the knee block is literally the same piece as the rest of the pad, or if it's like an insert into the pad. Not necessarily for future swaps of the block, but just for things like defects and repairs. I dunno, we'll find out soon enough
