Yeh man, pretty much it. Trial and error. I tried tucking, didn’t like it. I tried my braces over my shoulder floaters, didn’t like it . Just play around, try putting certain straps in different combinations of your chesty’s loops to find the right fit! Enjoy dude, play as much as you can! (sure wish I could! )

So, since I don’t play anymore () I like to watch any hockey when I can. Then it occurred to me, these European goalies and leagues in general, are inundated with advertisements plastered over any little bit of spare ice or uniform. So, I think, if a goalie is nothing but ads, in front of ad boards and the ice surface being predominantly adverts, that on some level would make the shooter think twice? I think there’s some great points raised here. I believe how the game (at least on the highest level) is played now, shooters know where the gaps in the goalie are, regardless of the colour of their pads. High level players will (I imagine) train where to shoot, with the most minimal amount of net or gaps showing. I like it when goalies express their self. It seems limited to their mask, but when it’s mask and pads, it’s refreshing, in my opinion at least. I also think that a lot of the pro level goalie coaches are possibly a bit stuck in the past, when it comes to gear colour choice. Aforementioned, some coaches and or organisations have limitations on gear colour, which just sounds like even more dinosaurs stomping their feet (excuse the pun).

Took me longer than I wanted, but best I could do at the moment; Its not all white, so I heavily approve! Kaapo Kähkönen’s new alternative set up. Just needs a black stick now, then it would be perfect.

At the end of the day, personally, I feel it’s all personal preference. I think of Mike Smith in Edmonton, I always thought he looked bigger than he did in his away setup. One match I won, shook hands with other team and when I got to there goalie, I was greeted with ‘no wonder you won, look at the size of your pads!’. Suffice to say, they were in all white, where as I, full teal. (Naturally)

Interesting little watch I’m sure plenty of you have seen, but for those who haven’t; As an advocate for coloured gear, I hope to see some inspiration coming through so my old ass can enjoy what I once did! *mods, if it’s already been posted or in the wrong thread, feel free to do your thing *

Noticed a lot of guys this season compared to last, favouring the matte finish on the masks. Not a fan personally. But this one? Definitely different, having that wool fibre effect is a nice touch and I like how Markstrom colours his straps. Nice unique touch.

His Sharks setup makes me very happy.

It is . Yeh, as I said, I had a hi res version of it some time ago, one of my old teammates was a journalist for CNN and he brought his SLR to the game. Lost touch years ago and haven’t been able to find his portfolio online since! But, yes. Teal all day every day!

Finally found a pic of my old setup, albeit 10 years old or so, and unfortunately not the mega resolution version from the photographer (teammate).

I like the fact the Saros has full colour, but my guy, add some navy accents in there once in a while!

Various things; I’d always dress right to left, and undress left to right. Once my leg pads were on, before my chesty, I’d flex my thigh rise and then do a bunny hop. Once all my gears on, double tap on pad face with butt end of stick. Glove hand was always the loose one, I’d take it off to drink water unlike most who take the blocker off. Triple tap posts and talk to them. During stretches I would kind of spin my knees and click my heels like wizard of oz, 3 times. I had a period, of once the zamboni had finished, I had to be first on the fresh ice. But that didn’t last too long. Pregame/pre practice, 9/10 I would always have a mars bar. ‘bout as much as I can remember!

I hope he gets a set in at least before the seasons up. Give us that at least, then retire . Would like to see an all gold lid like with his LA throwback.

I personally think the retro tan sets are played out. I think if you want to represent old skool, the 90s and very beginning of the 2000s style sets work better in my opinion. I.e. Brian’s air pac!

Yeh it’s pretty nice. Love his Olaf Kolzig tribute mask too.
