  1. Update: I did the Vinyl backing/krazy glue thing Wednesday night and the tear is sealed up very well with little use of glue. I'll try to post an update with like at least a few skates to see if moisture and game use break the seal. Here's the longer process I followed for anyone who wants to know: Bought gray Marine Vinyl ($3 for minimum amount of 5 ft/5 inches at JoAnn) and Krazy Glue($5) I used the squeeze bottle one as you can control small amounts: Krazy Glue, All Purpose, Precision Control Pen, 4 g -Cut the vinyl to cover the entire back of the cut, slipped it through carefully to try not to rip. Due to the location and stiffness of the area, I am not 100% sure if it covered the whole back of the cut but got enough to feel like I wasn't going to glue the internal padding. -Applied the glue in small globs on the vinyl and behind the Jenpro, pressed it for 60 seconds. bonded fast. I then applied very small amounts on the front of the cut as there were still flaps sticking out. The glue left a little hardened crusty residue on the front but nothing too cosmetically concerning and yes there is not much elasticity; however the face of where the cut is stiff and doesn't need to be elastic or stretch much. -To cure it, I pressed the leg of a workout bike to the cut for like 3 hours then put a softer metal plate thing on the face of the pad to cure it for 20 or so hours, there was no way for it to stick. I think next time I would wait to apply the glue to the front as it started getting a little messy, but overall it's sealed really well but time will tell with use over time. Thanks for the help gang!
  2. @Puckstopper great thanks. No real pro shops or stores close that would have anything in my area.... I'm going to pop into JoAnn's and see what they have and give that all a shot...and I will stay away from the shoo goo though thanks for the heads up @Wonder35
  3. thanks...here are some pics. What clue did you use? I was on a reddit thread and some guy suggested Shoe-Goo https://www.amazon.com/Shoe-GOO-110212-Adhesive-Black/dp/B004PBOJE8 Was thinking about giving that a shot if I didn't get any other suggestions
  4. Just got a nasty 5 inch tear on the face of my leg pad from a dude who didn't know how to stop...want to seal it up with something but can't find any threads on this topic. Any suggestion on adhesives or products other than traditional sewing?
  5. Alright, new custom True 20.2 set came in yesterday 1 day shy of 6 weeks. (paid 10/27, delivered to me from vendor 12/7). Specs: Pads: 34 +1, External/Internal break, soft boot, regular angle, no recessed knee, velcro knee rolls strap, no boot strap, Silver Carbone weave for the sliding area, prolaces Blocker: 595 no binding, tight, large palm, suregrip, Glove: 580 double t, game ready xtra, skate lace, suregrip, webbing strap Had a first skate in them last night and though It was a brutal stiff break-in skate, I was surprised at how great the sliding and rotation on pads were and the seal to the ice is so much better than my Brian's. The way they sit higher on the skate and the FRS made me feel more mobile and like I had more control shifting across the crease. The game ready xtra for the glove is still pretty stiff which is surprising, then again I am coming from an Optik 2 glove which is supposedly a 600 break so need some time to get used to the 580. One thing I noticed about the glove and blocker is the strapping is simpler and more secure vs Brians. Though the BOA is cool, I felt like my hand was never connected as much as the True did. Alright enjoy playahs!!! I think the Silver pops and was not positive the color way would go well together, since the customizer doesn't have a shine, but I'm happy with the result.
  6. Just joined and wanted to show off my custom Brian's set (Gnetik 4 pads/Opik 2 Glove and Blocker) before I retire it for my True 20.2's coming this week. I've had these for a year and overall they were good to me, but there are a few options I would stay away from and durability issues were annoying: the plastic buckles are a joke and not only did they break apart, the nylon attaching them to the pad ripped off within less than a year. some of the Velcro stopped sticking within the same time as well on the blocker and pad strapping. Trying to not make this a review, but if anyone has any questions and recommendations for Brian's stuff, I can elaborate, BUT I love the graphics on this and Brian's was great about getting the graphics right. Trying to convince myself that these issues are the reason why I switched but let's be honest, this set is fine and I just wanted to get a rush out of getting a new set lol....however the options for True/Lefevre are better for glove break angles and break-in styles. The Optik glove break is around 600 apparently, and it's not for me. was like a trampoline and could never feel connected with the closer, not to mention it felt like a practice palm and despite all the break-in methods out there, it's still very stiff...gonna get a game ready extra 580 and see how it compares....Anyways, enjoy the set and this relatable meme!
  7. I ordered mine and paid on 10/27. Order arrived a week early from the original ETA and were shipped off today from the vendor, so exactly 5 weeks. You should be seeing them soon my dude.
