  1. Over the years I have worn Vaughn, Edge, Brian's, Battram and Passau. If I needed to switch I would look at either another Passau or a Kenesky. I have not had much trouble with my Passau even though it has been "well worn" and used by a semi-pro goalie prior to me acquiring it. If I remember the details correctly it is a gen 1 chest with gen 2 arms. I love this thing. Although I also would not mind trying out a Kenesky.
  2. Thank you for that information. I was not aware that burning the ends would not accomplish anything.
  3. Hey @SaveByRichter35, Thank you for the reply. Yeah I was looking at those but wonder if it would be the same grade of elastic strap. The Pro's Choice may be an option. The problem that I will likely always have is the attachment to the backplate. Pretty much any straps I get will need to be cut and have a small hole to accommodate the attachment to the backplate. I don't know of too many companies out there making straps in this configuration.
  4. Hey all, My Otny needed new straps as the originals lost the majority of their stretch. This was mostly because of age. For Christmas my wife bought me some new straps from Goalieparts and after my last ice time one of them had unraveled pretty bad. I may be able to make it usable by cutting and burning the ends but they seem much thinner than the originals. My question is, who makes the best replacement straps? I am completely willing to buy a set and cut them to the proper length. I just want a set that seem like they will last a good while. I am holding out hope that these will still last but they do not seem like they will last very long.
  5. @MangoRhinehart Wow! That Lord of the Rings mask looks awesome. The Shining mask looks cool as well but the Lord of the Rings just looks amazing. There was a junior goalie near my town when I was a teen who had the Balrog on his mask. I always thought it was amazing.

    Vaughn V9

@A.YOUNGoalie13 Just about every Vaughn glove I have used has suffered from finger curl. I have used Velocity, Epic, V3, 7990 & my current Vaughn pro custom glove based off a V5 or 6. The worst of these by far was my Epic. One thing about it though, there was never the worry that the puck would drop out if you caught it.
  7. For Christmas my wife bought a Potvin kit from Leblanc Designs. I love this kit. It's the first time I have attempted to vinyl a mask so there are some rough areas but overall I am really happy with how it turned out.
  8. I am 6'3" and currently I am using 26" Warrior Abyss sticks. My last stick prior to that was a Warrior Swagger Kiprusoff which was 26". I have in reserve two Warrior Swagger heel curve sticks that are 25" which I will see if I like or not. The last team I played on the other goalie was probably 5'8" or 5'9" and used a 27" paddle on his sticks. He was always trying to convince me that I needed a longer paddle on my sticks.
  9. @ScruffMcgruff It looks like you can still buy them through some retailers but as for the company itself I have not seen a website in a couple of years. I also do not wear knee protection. The only bit is the knee guards attached to my Vaughn V3 Pads and they often do not provide proper protection.
  10. The company that made them is no longer around but I bought 4 pairs just to be sure. I have the socks and the pants. I've never had an issue with them. They are comfortable and I've never found them too hot. https://wingman-sports-corp.myshopify.com/collections/achilles-cut-resistant-collection
  11. I cleaned my mask padding the other day. All I used was warm water, dish soap and a microfiber towel. While I was cleaning I decided to clean the straps too as they were starting to show some serious sweat stains. This seemed to work quite well. I did find out that I will need to replace the elastic straps to the jaw as they have stretched out quite a bit in the last few years.

    Team Pics

Found some old pictures First is a Pre-2000 from a tournament in Edmonton, AB. Second is from my ball-hockey team after we won the championship. Not sure where any other picture I have is. I was in a Senior team picture but was never given a copy of it.
  13. I had a guy a couple of years ago agree to buy a glove from me. We were right up to the point of having it packaged and preparing to ship. Then he fell off the face of the planet. No excuses or anything, just stopped responding. At least I wasn't out anything but I was pretty upset that I got roped along and in the end didn't end up selling it. For the most part I have had fairly good luck selling and buying things online and through Kijiji and Facebook marketplace. There are always those people out there looking to turn a quick buck or just mess with another person for pure enjoyment though. The old adage of buyer beware has never been so prevalent.
  14. Yeah, we've been following progress as well. I have been informed that I WILL be changing teams as soon as Seattle gets a team. Just waiting to see what my new jersey will look like. In all honesty, I will likely get to see more games than I ever could here in Canada. Just hoping they have a goalie I can get behind.
  15. @seagoal My father-in-law is the lead tech for all the computer systems in the new arena. He was watching the demolition and letting me know what was going on. It's kind of funny because none of them were really interested in hockey until I entered the picture. Now I get to hear some of the through the vine talk. No real secrets revealed though.
