Haven't worn Warrior since GT2, about 4-5 years ago? There are some nice quality of life changes, some long-needed improvements, and some things that I outright just don't like...

You beat @WONGER to the punch! ;)

When will you go into full details? Wearing the GT2 line myself, this has particular interest for me  :D

Arrived last night, a few adjustments made, played at 6am this morning with it. Felt like I’d had it for years! I’ve been wearing a Simmons 996 since 2012 and LOVE that thing. Never been hurt, super mobile and comfy. Could not find anything I liked that was lighter and updated till I tried this on. Was going to buy another Simmons but got an absolutely amazing deal on this. There are a few deals out there that make this a GREAT choice. So far, one skate😜 this was fantastic, felt smaller, a lot lighter and no mobility issues, nothing got caught or in the way. Took a few to the shoulders and chest and felt nothing other than contact. It’s got a ways to go before it’s 996 soft but extremely happy with first skate. Love the blue too, matched my Warrior G6 pads, although no one can see it…

How do you feel about the retractable belly? Worked well for you? Tuck? Half-tuck? Untuck?

  3. And voilà, my search is over...for the moment. Ironically, as I purchased this unit, a week after, a ton pop up for the taking all over Facebook 🙄

Posting my intention here and there on FB, someone reached out saying they had one they were selling. I didn't know the guy and as we went back and forth on the topic, for personal curiosity and to get a clear picture of whom I'll be dealing with,  I searched his profile and was noticed something "odd". I decided to Google him and to my pleasant surprise he turned out to be a Canadian boy playing pro in Europe...Liga to be precise. No it's not Trav 😝😁. His name was mentioned in a post recently...

As I let you work it out, I will give my first impression of the unit, comparing it to my 2S model and eventually a post-action review.

I'm happy to finally get back into a unit my size. As some of you know, my 2S is an XL and is just too long on my torso despite my 6'2 frame. I'm all legs I guess 😆

This is a custom senior Large pro-return. The custom part was additional thickness in some key areas as per his request, very much expected for his level of play. If I feel anything in this unit, it won't be more than a light slap from the girlfriend after a bad joke. Reason for him selling is that it's too small for him. He was initially in a CCM Pro and went back to one, the newer version in XL (and I have a juicy tidbit on that topic for later).

If I compare the weight between this Pro Series and my 2S, I'd say there's at least 1lbs or 2 different given the extra thickness. I don't have proper scale to back that up so do indulge me in my inaccuracy.

The wings on this unit are much thicker, as is the heart guard. Even though, the type of foam used give me the impression that rebound won't come off like crazy as on the 2S. Personally I'm fine with that as it will give me better rebound control. Of course this theory might drastically change after my first or second ice time. We shall see.

The shoulder caps took me by surprise. You see, the caps on the 2S are a hard shell, similar to what you would find on a forward's shoulder pads. There's no extra foam flap behind it, the foam is integrated with the plastic in the nylon shell. As for the Pro Series, and never having seen one before, I wouldn't of known, but the caps are like a hollow shell, you can press into it, which is something I would of never expected, especially since they were designed to face pro level shots. I thought they would of been the same thing as the 2S but nope. As a safety measure I guess, Bauer added a thick foam flap behind the caps. Was this approach done to save weight? Was it an NHL rule thing? Is there a scientific purpose to it? I have no clue.

One thing I was looking forward to, as small as it may seem, was the wrist guard that usually comes with this unit. Mind you, the one attached here is damaged and will need replacing, I'm happy to give it a go. I'm hoping it won't interfere with my glove. I use a Warrior GT2 and the cuff is smaller than most gloves out there. Should I ever move into a G7, apparently they are even smaller, all the better for that extra padding there.

Lastly, a minute detail, the neck foam, cuff, call it what you may. The one on the 2S is a stiffer foam and given that the unit is too long on me and that I tuck, it sometimes pushed up into my Maltese guard and made for an uncomfortable moment. The one on the Pro Series is much softer and all should be perfect now 👌

That's all I can think of for now. If more comes up, I'll just add it as an additional update. Stay tuned for the post-game review.

If there's any questions or users feedback, go for it.

  4. I have a web client that just bought some used. He says he feels the strap at the calf too loose for his leg. I'm assuming he's got skinny calves. The strap says Large. Not being familiar with the more recent velcro CCM models, do the elastics come in different sizes/lengths? Think any are still available online and what should I look for?

    Thanks in advance. Pics below...

I personally love that I can wash the damn thing, and I can re-palm my blocker myself back to factory new.

Blocker, yes, that's cool and the setup isn't all that hard. The glove on the other hand, if the palm isn't set exactly as you had it before taking it out...well that would just drive me nuts 😵‍💫

Only the stiffness and the calf wrap can be modified.

You'll still have a square toe and flatter leg channel

GT line is dead, it's time to move on. 😜

You know as much as I do that if they brought it back, you'd be all over it 😉

  7. Sometimes when you watch a televised game, you can probably catch some on ice "communication" between the players, some cues, some directions, occasionally some salty or foul rebuttal.

Last night, during the last minute of a period I was told the best compliment,  "VA CHIER!!" (which is French for kind of F$#% YOU) after stoning a shot in an open net with my right pad off a big rebound.

Ahhhh, people are so nice in hockey, you know 😁

Just get a custom G7 with a soft knee and medium thighrise. Should be relatively close.

    Taper at the inside toe?

  9. I wish the 7.0 glove would have a permanent palm.

I wish they would of kept the GT2 line but have the new leg strapping. That'd be killer 😎

  10. Well...

Just got news that the team has been sold to the Utah Jazz owner and that he intends to move the team there, providing he builds an appropriate arena within the next 5 years.

So the league falls short at 31 for the next little while? Will there be a mad scramble to fill in the gap? Will Québec finally have their chance? Or will Bettman screw us over again with another American team franchise?

Either way, this will affect the schedule for next season no doubt.

Cody Porter and Carter Hart also have custom embroidery on their gear

I did see that on Cody's glove. Been chatting with him. Never noticed on Heart. Kassimir has his own logo as well.

  12. Watching last night highlights, I noticed Vasy has logo style initials on his catcher. Noticed one or two other pro goaliesdo this.

Does he have his own Russian YouTube channel as well?

Yes - for me I want the Wings to get the last spot. Would help validate the Yzerplan for the impatient, and as @coopaloop1234 said, would provide a bit of a different look for the east.

Here’s hoping the Habs can gracefully stay the fuck out of the way, and give the Wings the much needed 2 points tonight.

    You happy now?

    Frigging RVH FAIL crap 💩
