  1. Any feedback from longer term users re: lifting/peeling? That has been my biggest concern with a vinyl wrap even when I was under the impression it was printed and applied rather than build up piece by piece.
  2. Agreed. I might do the thin vertical stripe on the pads (the one I did in green) in red. If you don't want it on the pads just do a separate order for the gloves. I ended up doing that because I didn't like how the brown binding looked on the gloves, so I ordered them separately with a white binding.
  3. Very Cool! I like the white inner area of the Classic design. White weave for the sliding surface?
  4. I wouldn't call the Supreme "streamlined". I'd wait to check out the R/GT2 or maybe the CCM EFlex Shield. Vaughn VE8 Pro Carbon might be worth a look as well.
  5. It's official, these will be here in 8-10 weeks along with matching V1+ sticks. After trying on R/GT's a couple times to get the size right I can't wait to see how these feel in person!
  6. I'll second this. Bungee type toe ties have been a huge help over the last couple years in dealing with my knee/hip soreness.
  7. The new hand position in the glove sounds amazing. Can't wait to try it out when it shows up at retail!
  8. Jeff, I agree with you 100%. Their loudmouth antics and poor customer service (in my one and only experience with them anyway) are the largest reason I'm glad they're gone. However, DL specifically disputed that Simmons ripped off other companies, which is totally laughable when you consider their entire body of work.
  9. No, it IS true. You've got one example of someone who designed but did not release an original pad while working there. The simple fact is that Simmons were the biggest pack of knockoff artists on the market. They were certainly not the only ones who'd buy another MFG's pad, deconstruct it and copy it part for part, but they were certainly the biggest and loudest.
  10. Great topic! So many of my good pictures of the pets are at home on the computer I use for Photoshop/Lightroom, but I've got a couple on my phone: Vladimir Katstintinov (named after my favorite player of all time) My brother's cat Perri, who looks and acts a little like Batman: And my sister's cat Noah, who we accuse of being Hannibal Lechter in feline form. He's a total charmer, right up until he decides to rip your face off and eat it! My wife and I also have 2 more cats, and there are several more and a dog in the extended family, but I don't have good pics handy for them.
  11. Oh don't get me wrong, I understand why Jeep did it. But after growing up in a suburb of Toledo and driving past the Jeep plant every time I drove to the rink I developed a love of the traditional 2 door Wrangler. I know it's a silly thing to be a purist about, but it it what it is. The Gladiator looks SICK! Let me know how you like it. I didn't think Caddy was still churning those things out. I had a buddy looking for one a couple years ago and used were almost the price of a new sedan. I think it's safe to say we're not going to agree on cars.
  12. Pretty sure Buick makes a wagon too if you'd prefer to support domestic MFGs.
  13. Say what you will, but her Trailhawk is plenty capable for casual offroading on the dunes and offroading courses near my cottage in Michigan. It's not like she was going to go for some hardcore offroader, and I refused to consider a 4 door Wrangler.
  14. You just need a second car for snowy days. I'm in central Ohio, so we don't have the legit hardcore snow that those of you to the north do. For the occasional day the Mustang can't handle I break down and borrow my wife's new Cherokee Trailhawk. And by break down I mean gleefully steal the keys and try to resist the urge to take it places it would love to go, but she would freak out about.
  15. Man, I use the heated seats in the SUMMER after leaving the rink. They do a great job of loosening up a tight back. I make fun of fancy people with vibrating seats in their cars but I'll be honest, the minute I don't have to buy a Bimmer, Merc or some other snob-mobile to have them I'll be ticking that options box on every car I buy.
  16. I used to think my Mustang convertible was the worst vehicle to haul gear to the rink in (and it's still not good) until one of the guys I play with had his car break down, and he had to borrow his dad's second car for the day. I'll let the picture speak for itself... Oh, to make it better? In true British sports car fashion the trunk won't open, and the luggage rack isn't secure enough to actually lash anything of value to.
  17. Good luck man. My Step blades that NoIcing set up for me were the best set of steel I've ever had. I'll be sending my current set of Tydan steel off to NoIcing shortly for a double radius. The Goalie-Sam profile that Tydan put on the blades for me before shipping just hasn't worked well for me, so I'm looking forward to getting back onto something I know and trust.
  18. LOL, totally! I even wear skinny hockey pants. I used to wear Kenesky for the retro factor, but now it's way too mainstream for me so I make my pads out of upcycled Styrofoam packing material and organic, environmentally friendly vegan leather.
  19. Hey now, I play for two teams with plaid in the color scheme (one red, one green). It works in an ironic sort of way. We pulled players from both teams for a recent tournament and called ourselves Hipster Christmas. It also just hit me that the guy who designed both jerseys looks slightly like the dude pictured above although I've never seen him wear a douchey hat like that one...
  20. Personally I'm hoping for something dark and muted. A nice dark green for the base color with a dark dark grey and bright silver as an accent color. MTH, that would work great if the team was going to Portland OR, or somewhere in Cali!
  21. I definitely have bigger issues with the first two sets of pictures that I do the third. If I saw the black and white set of gloves at the rink and wanted a pair I'd probably end up buying them from GoalieMonkey and CCM would end up with some money in their pockets anyway. I guess the fact that Scott B. isn't trying to pass the work off as his own is why it annoys me less. The Kenesky and the other Battram sets really bother me. As others have said, to each their own, but I know both shops are capable of doing better work than that. On a related note, both the Vaughn XP set and the Smith set they supposedly copied look an awful lot like a custom graphic I had Scott Battram do for me years before either line of pads launched. Maybe I should call Mike Vaughn up and demand free gear for copying my "Fang" graphic idea. Or maybe I'll just accept that fact that sooner or later graphics may overlap. At least until everyone starts screenprinting graphics like Bauer and all of us can have purple pads with unicorns farting rainbows...
  22. Good looking stuff for sure! I couldn't bring myself to buy something I couldn't try on though. I know the VE8 Pro Carbon isn't an exact replacement for the T3500 I was looking for, but Source for Sports had a big sale last week, and with the exchange rate I was able to pick it up for under $400 shipped so I took a chance. Boy am I glad I did! For me this thing is a perfect fit. I was able to get it almost as broken in as my 2 year old Brian's Gnetik II by baking it and working with it for a couple days, and wore it in a game last night. I had zero popouts (a regular occurance with both Brian's gloves I had worn previously) and pucks just seemed to naturally find the pocket. As an added bonus, my passing wasn't negatively affected the way it has been in the past when I switched gloves. I can't recommend this thing highly enough for those who want an old-school Vaughn feel!
  23. A couple clarification questions: Which Kenesky glove were you referring to? And while i'm not doubting that it works better for you, I'm skeptical of anything I can't try on, so what exactly is superior about it? Secondly, I've also not been a Velocity guy in the past. The break has felt off and at least one that I tried on had an awful V closure instead of the U closure I liked on my old Vaughn. So I know what you're saying about not being a fan of the gloves previously. But when you say your hand felt cocked forward I'm not sure I'm understanding you. Do you mean your fingers were in front of the heel of your hand, or that your thumb was ahead of your pinky? Thanks for being willing to help me reach a good decision.
  24. So messing around with the VE8 PC XP at Peranis the other day it felt pretty darn close to my beloved old T3500. I've been through a few gloves since that one but have never found one that worked for me the way it did. Is there anyone who's used both a T35/5500 and a VE8 (don't care which cuff style) and can compare/contrast the two for me? I'm getting worn out buying gloves every few years that are almost but not quite right. Thanks!
