  1. I know for a fact he had friends in some goalie gear groups looking for this version of knee pad since its discontinued and he refuses to wear anything else. He has a stockpile a la Patrick Marleau and his Reebok skates
  2. Most interested in the fit improvements. I've been hesitant to get a pair as I have a high instep/depth and wide EE usually and only TRUE has worked so far. Really excited for these but YUCK the all black look
  3. He was in a full "HL2" setup this offseason in training (all Bauer but a bunch of lines mixed together) https://sidelineswap.com/gear/hockey/goalie/goalie-full-sets/7096558-bauer-used-medium-regular-hyperlite-2-goalie-full-set-pro-stock-wedgewood
  4. To anyone who opted for a 580 glove with their set, does it feel different compared to past Lefevre gloves? This PX3 glove is making my thumb go numb and feels really strange compared to my older gloves. I have an XLT pro stock Martin Jones 580 and love it, but this new one really hurts my hand throughout games. Never had this issues with the 10+ variations of ccm/reebok/koho 580's I've had the last decade, but this is my first TRUE branded one.
  5. What is your toe tie setup? Tight elastic wont allow them to sit too high For me, a tighter bottom FRS strap and long skate lace toe tie help the pad sit up quite high
  6. Here is the response from my rep when I asked about binding. "...the sidewall shape between ‘curved’ and ‘straight’ goes by the wayside when the goalie selects a binded face, which you have with the 585. The sidewall shape of the 585 represents an older Lefevre design that sits somewhere in between the coverage you achieve with the ‘straight’, mixed a little with the articulation you get with the ‘curved’. If you were to remove the binding on the face perimeter, you’d then have the option to select between the two designs."
  7. Here they are, in all their glory. Ordered May 25, delivered 10/6. 34+2 PX3 L87 graphic in Camel With black weave accents and sliding surface single internal break “straight” profile no external break 580 glove, pro palm, leather wrist strap, single tee, black lace pocket 585 binding blocker with suregrip palm and curved finger protection
  8. have this on all my C/A every since I had a Passau with the clip. Feel naked without it. I like my gear tight to the body and it helps pull the chesty up and sqaure and keep the pants from sagging to much without suspenders. lots of recent pro stock chests have it, Vaugh and CCM notably.
  9. 32 looks better. you shouldn't land too low on the block, you lose stability in the butterfly. your knee cap should generally be in the upper 1/3 of the knee block, not accounting for personal preference.
  10. ProLaces new PUSH model out. Looks like more solid lace and a smidge of bungee. Very interested to try a set but nearly $80CAD before shipping is steep (about $60USD for use Americans). https://prolaces.ca/en/products/pro-laces-armor-hybride
  11. Small update: I got my compensation for the factory delays, a free HZRDUS PX Pro stick. Having used nothing but Bauer for the last 8 years, its a pretty nice piece. Its quite thin and very lightweight. Probably wont sway me from Bauer twigs though. Its a nice gesture from True to try and soothe the sting of a double/tripled wait time. Hopefully my next post here is my new set!
  12. I know someone who ordered maybe 2 weeks before me who just got his set, so my 8 week quote was accurate until about Wednesday this week unfortunately. I have heard Brian's is pushing back orders a few weeks as well right now.
  13. Bad news for anyone like myself waiting for a px3 set, True just pushed everyone back 6-8 weeks. I am at week 7 of a likely 8 week lead time, and they have apparently had some unforeseen setbacks in the factory, coupled with ramping up pro orders and a summer vacation shutdown, I'm now looking at an October delivery.
  14. I had a second hand Passau with this mod and it was by far the best chesty i ever used. such a comfortable setup. all the mobility of un-tucked with the fit consistency and close fit feeling of a tuck. I like my chest protector to feel tight to the body, a fit that only suspenders over could provide
  15. Thanks for correcting me, i only saw it on mobile until now. Interestingly I have seen a few guys use the Velcro connectors but with skate lace instead of a bungee lace. I always hated laces because they came untied so this seems like the perfect thing to eliminate that but get the feel of a lace attachment.
  16. That exactly how the stock TRUE prolaces come no? and the regular hybrid prolaces are all bungee before and after the bridge
  17. I believe Vanacek has some kind of NXG based catcher
  18. True one piece with painted bottoms. the black "cut" looking part is the true toe cap, it wraps around the carbon "blade holder" area of the 1 piece and is riveted on there.
  19. Personally, I've suffered 2 of them from over-doing hockey. I feel it every time i skate, player or goalie and for days after. I went to 8+weeks of PT each time to strengthen and learn stretches to mitigate pain/symptoms, but it never goes away because the butterfly position is inherently BAD for your ankles. I wear elastic toe ties with slack and good supportive True skates, as well at KT tape to limit flex. I also learned to recover out of the butterfly in a way to not put so much strain on that ankle by pointing my toes and being more purposeful with my recovery (Thanks to Francois Brassard at GGSU camp for the tip!!) Plus, Now I have a cool party trick where if I flex my ankle just right I can make a nice SNAP! sound which is the tendon flexing in my ankle over the bone.
  20. GoalieMonkey waiting list info from the site
  21. Used mine for the first time tonight (10.5 fit 3, size 13 nike/vans). Very apprehensive about the new fit system but for the first time in 10 years, I can wear a Bauer skate. Having been wearing Graf and then Vh and now True, these are going to be a great option for those who can't get into a custom skate and need a very DEEP and WIDE skate. These are the only skates I can pass the "pencil test" on at all and my foot isn't completely poking out of the top of the boot, and has enough ankle depth as well. The only cons are the ankle feels pretty loose with the new "stanceflex" fit compared to my 1piece trues and I cant stand the 3mm steel. I was also getting some drag of the toes when sliding but that's more of a technique issue for me. I also wish I could of had a size 10 blade, but because its a fit 3 and half size it went up to an 11. I like a smaller blade generally. I may re-bake or even punch them out as both feet have a large bump in the rear mid-foot that causes some pressure, but overall I'm very impressed that Bauer has made a skate to mostly accommodate me. Jury is still out on if I will keep them (my retailer offers 30 days no questions asked) but I think between coaching and playing ill get a good enough idea if these are for me. I really want another set of Trues (white 2 piece) but I have heard the wait time right now is quite long and the extra 200$ for expedited production isn't very appealing tbh.
  22. IIRC he had some really weird specs like the offset toe bridge, boot bump to add height and other stuff as well.
  23. I mean, the GM/President/Team Execs don't place gear orders, the EQM does and probably didn't clear it with them for who knows what reason. So I'm guessing when they came in the execs said no.
