  1. You have a buyer in me if/when V2.0 comes out. Big fan of the multi density knee landing, as I feel the Vaughn/Bauer ones lack in actual comfort. The grip knee and achilles protection is a great add.
  2. I think the stiffer thigh rise is great. Like you, I was a little concerned about how stiff they would be. It's why I went from a 33+2 V9 to a 32+2.5 PX3. They still have great flexibility in the boot and below the knee (mind you, this can be specced differently, I ordered the flexible options for both). It took barely any adjusting at all, and I think the thinner thigh rise will actually be less of an adjustment than going Eflex to 12.2 because there is VERY little interference in the thigh rise. Goalie pads in recent years have really pushed the envelope on thigh rise stiffness and pad seal. There's no question I lost a tiny bit of mobility compared to my V9s (although sizing down 0.5" helped), but I'm not worried about my pads trap door-ing a five hole goal. Another thing to mention, these pads are FANTASTIC with butterfly movements...the weave slides better than my Vaughns with quick slide.
  3. 2 games in and I can confidently say these are the best pads I have ever used. The 580 is going to take a major adjustment coming from almost 20 years of Vaughn gloves
  4. 10+ Vaughn c/a's over my life as a goalie here. It's definitely not an essential piece of equipment. In essence, it's a protector for your upper ribs, but that should already be covered if the chest fits properly. Its best use is to provide an extra piece to better seal the 6 and 7 holes. I'm almost certain that if you contact a Vaughn dealer or Vaughn itself, they will make one for you at a small cost. I've ordered replacement pieces from them many times (their new "soft" velcro has awful durability)
  5. Throwback to 2019. I was on the white team.
  6. Get the Ventus blocker. I'm a huge fan of any Vaughn blocker, but the Velocity line has recently had a pretty weak sidewall. It's almost like it tapers in by design...(maybe to close in on the arm better but I'm just theorizing, knowing Vaughn it's just a stupid design). The stiffer Ventus sidewall will offer you more blocking surface, especially for a beginner were a habit may be to tilt the blocker out at times. However, I do like the overall shape of the Velocity blocker better when considering the rest. Can't go wrong with either.
  7. I have absolutely had this bottle explode on me while playing. The real "F U" after a goal is scored.
  8. Thanks! It's difficult playing on a Devils, Leafs and Whalers themed team at the same time and not looking ridiculous in one of the combinations. I just base it off the jerseys from my last year of "real" hockey and keeping it white based. Pads I went with Pro Logos and soft boot Blocker has pro logos has the extended carbon (this should be a standard option on any custom order in my opinion) Glove I went with pro logos, skate lace (this costs extra from Vaughn for some ridiculous reason) and the internal finger grip rail that is standard on the two piece

    CCM Eflex 5

Oof. I don't even think the graphic is that bad...a little boring but seems okay. But that knee roll design looks like an out-of-season April Fool’s joke. Looks like the old Kohos except worse and even those should’ve stayed in the past. Knee rolls on eflex are pure fluff so I can’t even see this as a performance benefit. Maybe it’s a conspiracy to sell more Axis sets? It’s the only conclusion I can come up with ;)

    Vaughn V9

If you're comparing it to a 2x with the curv breaking down, you should definitely get the stiffer thigh. But why just not get SLR2?

    Vaughn V9

V9 core went on Weightwatchers or something. Looks super exciting. Kind of a shame there's only one calf strap (at least to me). I feel like when you go without a bootstrap, you need a lower calf strap to keep the boot pushed up on your skate. Like how the SLR2 is. Even a bunch of the Eflex QMSS users that don't use a boot strap do this (Markstrom, Rinne off the top of my head).
  12. That's very most likely going to be way too big on you. I'm 6'0 in a 33+1.5" base pad on a Brian's. I find there to be more of an advantage in getting a smaller pad rather than a bigger one. The S curve will also interfere more by design while moving around. Legs are different sizes on everyone. It's definitely best to find a cloth measuring tape (or get one from the dollar store) and measure your ATK and compare it to the size guide on the Brian's website. If you're growing, go a half size to one size bigger (i.e. you can order a 33.5+1 in Brian's).
  13. Yeah even with the Spec'd up foams, you're going to feel a shot once in a while. Never gotten anything that bad (knock on wood). But it's just in the arms. It's pretty bombproof in the sternum where the vital organs are. A bruise won't kill you and personally I'd rather have the mobility of a Vaughn unit.
  14. Have the same THS spec one. Love it, but I'm biased because I've pretty much always used a Velocity c/a. The upgrade is that is has thicker foams/extra carbon in the arms and sternum area. Can definitely tell I'm getting less stingers especially in the arms when compared to my regular retail V7 carbon. It will happen once in a while but stingers are part of being a goalie.
  15. Oh that's exciting. The small leaks on the models this year have been killing me. Felt like we knew way more about upcoming gear at this point last year.
  16. Not certain about all the changes, but just judging from the leaked pics: -New one piece knee block (kind of like how the old Vaughns were) - New strapping system (or maybe options between CRS and TuneFit in custom?) - Different core/stiffness options Another assumption is that the blocker board will be thinner and the glove will close much easier.
  17. How much cooler would it have looked if it was just embossed into the pads like it is on the glove T instead of this huge obnoxious welting at the top. Maybe it will be less noticeable if it's white trim instead of the black shown.
  18. GoalieGearNerd on instagram. No other clear pictures or info on the strapping aside from the above picture.
