  1. That seems a little odd. I bought the L/XL size and have quite a bit leeway (I have 16.5 neck). For me it works protection wise as I wear a dangler also.
  2. that maybe now, but he and OTNY did collaborate. Mold, materials and composition appear remarkably similar.
  3. Just running through the comments. The Otny, Bandit by Masked Marvel, the model from Coveted are built by the same person. The Otny X1 comes in an Junior/Intermediate size as does the Bandit and are at the same price point (both of which makes sense). If ordering from the US, the Onty can be ordered through Goalieparts.com. I've had my Onty for about month now. Not a lot of time mind you, but the quality seems to be there and it feels like a tank. Took a couple shots to it and didn't notice any thing. One was to the cage and no ringing which was nice.
  4. This is true and you're probably right. I could buy the cage and go with the 960 clone from Michel. With my luck I'd get that one ref......lol! Actually, that guy with the 960 finally got back to me after a week. Hopefully this comes through. Not a lot of Canadian made 960's floating around for a decent price in my neck of the woods.
  5. Oh I stumbled on a couple deals with varying results. One being a Bauer 960 for $300. Issues were was too big (M/L) and he took the CSA stickers off the mask (not sure why he would do that since he played Junior A and it wasn't painted). Another guy has a tonne of masks and gear for sale (think he has a connection to a hockey school). He also has a 960, but doesn't know the size. He also has an NME10 but he's been giving me the run around. I thought about using the back plate off my Hackva and getting a Protechsport (considering Michel is 2 hrs away from me). CSA is getting sneaky. Now 'certified' cages have their own CSA sticker or id plate on the cage itself. What I'm really interested in knowing when I posted this was if the X8 and L1.9 were as good protection wise as the Hackva. I'm leaning toward the X8 because it's made in NA. Cedric
  6. Oh, I'm aware but like I said, not having any luck. Thanks Cedric
  7. Hey guys, I'm kind of stuck between a rock and hard place as it were. My faithful Hackva developed a crack near one of the screws late in the winter season (straight through the shell) so I have to get a new one. Looking for something with similar protection, but I'm not feeling all that confident with the choices in my price range ($500). Unfortunately, a Protechsport is not option because I play in Ottawa, ON and everything has to be CSA. I've been also searching for used pro models but not having any luck. I play once a week beer league with players varying degrees of skill. Looking at a Sportmask X8 or a CCM 1.9. Can anyone offer any opinions on these two or something else I might have not considered. Thanks Cedric

    Brian's Gear

I have a version of the 5.0's (not branded that way). I got them for a great deal and thought I would give them a go (my Vaughn V3's were pretty much done and had served me well). They are big. My V3's were medium and I got the same size in the BStar's. They're closer to a large. But other than, quality has been good and they're very protective. I never tucked my c/a before, but given the extra room I had I started doing half-way through the season. I attach my c/a (Vaughn V3 also) via the loop with the skate lace. Don't think the snap buckle would fit through. Cedric

    Vaughn Gear

I believe this is this case. Their previous SR level stuff is now being labeled 'Pro'.
  10. These are areas that have multiple options for the customer. Flat faced, flat knee rolls, rounded knee rolls; side roll can be angled or square (above is a like a rounded, square); various degrees of boot taper. I believe the landing area is a little more square than before. Passau's website pictures are very recent. Their Instagram and Facebook accounts are more up to date. Cedric
