  1. So ordered some Warriors. Measured my old ones many times but I guess my tape wasn't in exact spot at the heal so I thought size was right turns out 1/2" longer paddle on the new ones. I'll take one for a spin but feel it will be too long. Just want to cut 1/2" off. Have 3 new sticks to do. Just not sure I should do it. From what I read 1/2" shouldn't be big issue? Warrior ritual composite.
  2. Ok so I'm 5'11 and found some sticks online that I wanted. I measured the back of the paddle on the stick I have which are 26" but with measurement come out to 27.5". My new Warrior sticks come in which are 27.5" when measured down the back of the paddle. They are almost 1/2" taller than my current ones. I guess I must have had the angle of my tape wrong or something when measuring mine. Anyway can't return and just wondering if you think I'll notice the extra height? It feels longer but is that just all in my head? Would alittle less than half inch be noticable on the ice?
  3. Sorry shoulder caps spoken for. Just belly extension available
  4. Have a pair of shoulder caps and a belly extension for chest protectors. There are holes punched in all 3 pieces so they can be laced in. Picked these up years ago for a project that never happened. If anyone wants to frankenstein their chesty, these could help. Just pay shipping and PayPal fee.
  5. Man that Wregget set brings back memories. When I was a kid Leafs were always on HNIC and it was Wregget or Bester in net. Watched them play alot. Awesome tribute sets.
  6. I was just re reading this thread. @PuckStoppa 586 is a great line! I've been using Boddam hybrids 2 different sets for 6 years now. Love em. I'm still going to try to adapt though. Have some V6s and Passau pads in waiting for Covid to be over. I need new pads as the Boddams are wearing out. I'll try these 2 different pads and see what they are like. If no go, I may just stick with what works!
  7. I think Hockey Manitoba is re-evaluating after Nov.15th as long as we out of code red. Took about 10 shots with your Passau. Recall pucks hitting the pocket on every shot. Worth trying again I think. Still in Warrior?
  8. Always wanted to try a pair of Passau pads. Just picked these up. Interested in trying a Passau catcher 60 degree break with intermediate internals if anyone has one they would let go.
  9. Yes,. Sold pretty quick to Matt Weiler who does all the combos you see on ggsu and other groups. I think he had it back up for sale though. Not sure if he sold it.

    Soft pads user

Breen in my Boddam Hybrids for 4 seasons (same as Simmons 586) and if soft is what you want, this would be the softest there is. Abit heavier since they still stuff the pad to get that soft feel. I agree with @WillyGrips13 very soft pad that will settle.
  11. Boddam Hybrids. Made as soft as they come. ( Same as Simmons 586). Heavy compared to pads today but they will bend and twist anyway you want. But yeah options are limited.
  12. I'm 42 been fighting arthritis in the hips since 26. Really limited flexibility on left side. Been able to manage up till now with lots of stretching, exercises, physio, massage and acupuncture. Now just not enough. Can't get into stance or move side to side without pain since getting back on ice last month. Have physician apt later this month. Going to push to get on resurface wait list. In meantime have Prolotherapy apt at end of month. Figure it can't hurt. If I respond to it, at least it will ease the pain while I wait for resurface. Can't play at all right now which sucks.
  13. I tried to make a switch as well but went with True boots in Vaughn cowlings. Have 5 pairs of steel so I don't run out for awhile. Same issue. Too much height tough in my arthritic hips.
  14. I'll give that a try as well. Thanks
  15. Going to try to double knot tonight.
  16. So I switched to Howie's and now back to elites. My right skate keeps coming undone. No matter which laces I use. Thoughts? Different way I should be lacing? I'm thinking I'll have to knot the right side and fight to remove it after. Don't know what else to do. This only started since using True skates.
  17. Filled in for a tender here in Winnipeg last week. First skate for me. 15mins before game. Got out there with 1 min left in 3 min warm up. Played 3 15 min periods with flood after 2nd. Full benches. Was fun to be back out there washrooms were locked so sweaty short drive home. All in all not bad. Need to up my speed getting dressed though. I even went in my base layer.
  18. Yep at least you are out there. Have a buddy starting to play next week. Getting more impatient to play as I hear about all you guys getting the skates on again. If I can't shower then so be it, I just want to get back out there!
  19. At least you can use the dressing room and shower even if they only give you 15mins. Reading about guys having to show up part dressed and going home all sweaty, not sure how I'd handle that. Hopefully our rinks in Winnipeg will allow for dressing rooms and showers as well.

    Vaughn V6 rotation

Picked up some new to me Vaughn V6s just before the rinks closed so I didn't get to try them out. I was bored tonight so put my gear on. I've always used thigh wraps but bought some Bauer X60 knee pads. With the knee pads on, I can barely get the knee strap around the back of my knee. Tried a few carpet flies and no rotation at all. Take off the knee strap and no issue. Just wonder what you V6 owners do for rotation. Thinking about getting velcro stitched into the calf wrap so I can attach the strap lower. Just wonder how to get rotation out of these. Pic of the pads just because.
