  1. Haven't posted for awhile. Setup I'm trying to go with for the season. I love my old Boddam Hybrid pads so anything else is stiff to me. Went with Bauer Reactor 9000s and trying not to dump them right away like I have with so many other pads. Just a fill in guy now so black and white for me. Jerseys from Rockstar, sticks from hockeystickman, protechsport mask, blocker is 1x skinned ultrasonic and sub3 glove with small internals.
  2. Brand new True Holders and Runners by Step. Came with my skates but but never installed them. Size 272 or size 8 boot. $50cdn will ship at buyers expense. Ships from Winnipeg MB
  3. How you liking the Christian sticks? Been thinking about putting in an order.
  4. Next to new Bauer Reactor 9000 pads for sale. Used 5 times before knee injury. Just a few puck marks on them. 34+2". Top 2 straps are removable. Come with knee pads. $500usd plus shipping. Ships from Winnipeg MB
  5. Initials are DAF. just made sense to go with Daffy.
  6. Awesome, that would be great. Sounds like we have close to same width. Will watch this thread for your review on them. Thanks
  7. Definitely want to know how any of you narrow foot guys like these. I tried option B straps and could never get the velcro tight enough. Thinking these should work much better for narrow feet.
  8. Been looking for new pads for awhile. Have been in my Boddam Hybrids (Simmons 586) for past 5 years. I wanted to update but also wanted to stay in a soft pads with some flex. Ended up finding these Bauer 9000s at my local shop and got them pretty cheap. Yes older pad but still and upgrade for me and something that will suit my game. Also picked up the 1x blocker skinned as ultra Sonic off SLS.
  9. Totally agree with the 2 posts above. The right foot beds will make a world of difference.

    Decision on new pads

Well I consider eflex too stiff so Vapor would be way too much for me. Thanks though.

    Decision on new pads

Thanks, I'll have a closer look at those Brian's. Wasn't looking to do CCM at this time.

    Decision on new pads

I did inquire with them on making a 9000 pad but that was a no go. Simon at JRZ did say they could build the Prime pad to feel like a V6. Kind of forgot about that.

    Decision on new pads

Thanks @johncho I think the GT2 is what I'd do but I didn't have a set I could try, only G4. I hear they play similar though. Appreciate the input.

    Decision on new pads

Don't really want to spend that much on pads right now though. Not quite in the budget.

    Decision on new pads

Would off the shelf in this case. Brian's not in the budget right now. I do keep any eye out for a good used set of Heritage pads but those are hard to find too. The Warrior G4s I tried were actually pretty good. They were my second best feeling pad after the V6s. The GTs definitely on my radar. Thanks

    Decision on new pads

As much as I love my 586s, I want to move away from them to something lighter, slide better but still have hybrid qualities. I did check them out though.
  17. Been in Boddam Hybrids (simmons 586) for past 8 years. My current set are 5yrs old and worn down. I was going to order Boddam Patriot pads (based on Vaughn V5/6) bit doesn't sound like Boddam will be doing hockey for awhile so looking for input on other options. What's my kind of pad? J.Quick and Campbell are my spirit guides wearing soft Vaughn pads. I'm definitely a hybrid goalie but do butterfly alot. I've tried: Vaughn V6, Passau, CCM retroflex, Vaughn V8, Warrior G4 and Vaughn SLR. Last 2 cause a friend of mine has them and let me try out. My favorite out of the bunch was the V6. Issue was too tall in the shin. If I go down to 33 (from 34) then my 5hole is open. Vaughn sizes weird for me. Ofcourse they felt decent though since the are soft like my Boddams. If I could find a next to new set in 33+3, I'd be set. Since that is gonna be next to impossible, here is what I'm considering. Vaughn v9 non carbon (since they sit taller than V8 or earlier 5 hole should have better coverage), Warrior GT2 SR (some good clearance prices right now) or Bauer Reactor 9000 (local shop has a new set on clearance and would be close to earlier Velocities). Just looking to thoughts from anyone who has gone from the 586 or V4 type of pads to something more updated and what did you choose. Playing in these different pads I do see the benefits but still want something with that soft boot and more traditional feel. Thanks
  18. New backup mask came in. One on left is new full fibreglass Protechsport. On the right my old full Kevlar Protechsport. Both Theodore mold with shortened chin.

    Vaughn pad sizing

Hey guys, Still working to find the right set of pads. I did buy a next to new set of V6s 34+2" where I was actually missing the knee block. Knee landed below it. It would catch it but not right on it. So I guess I'm a 33" in newer Vaughn pads. The thing about the 34" was they closed the 5 hole well. If I go to a 33+2" I'm worried I'll have an opening there. Looking at the stiffness of the V9 compared to the V8, do you think the V9 would give me better closure considering they sit an inch taller? I was looking at the clearance on the pro V elite from goalie monkey. I thought I read somewhere they had 2 internal breaks. This could help as well if buying a 33+2.
  20. Update: Used my first stick for 4months and snapped in November. Just had my second one snap last weekend, right at the handle as well. Down to last one. Don't think I'll try this again. Only a few months out of each isn't worth it.
  21. Hey @southpawtendy48 I've been thinking of adding slack to my toe ties. How did you do yours?
