  1. Super helpful and interesting! I think you and I are similar in wanting to try some new things, but yeah - not break the bank each time haha. Interesting point re: the SFS exclusives. They and TGC (near me too) seem to amp up their lower end stuff a bit. I like what you and others are suggesting about pro models for gloves though, as the G4 Pro was a big step up and improvement for me.
  2. Fair points all around! I was thinking more like the big big innovations, like I'd like to try Brian's strapping, or the stabilislide thing Bauer has going on, or the various different sliding surfaces. I've really liked the Warrior because of just how much/easily I can take apart the gear and try different combinations, but definitely hitting limits as to what I can do with it. Perhaps a new years resolution post-COVID is to get more goalie buddies to share/demo gear with! It would be cool to work with them to build up something though based on how you describe it. My dream pad is a ver
  3. Oh definitely. I think my interest is to try different things and different brand features. I feel going full-custom would honestly be fairly overwhelming as I'm still learning what I like and don't like. It's not so much about cost, honestly.
  4. Hey all, Very curious about your thoughts on all the mid-range price point lines from each brand. I like to switch up every few years or so to try different brands and new innovations, but generally don't like to break the bank going pro/top level each time. So I'm curious what everyone uses and thinks! So far I've used: CCM eFlex 500 - my first "real" pad (i.e. not the cheap used gear I started with). No real comparison here, but from what I remember they were well made and fairly solid, though in retrospect fairly heavy. Didn't love the soft rebounds though and wasn't crazy ab

    Mckenney Gear

Always been a fan of my CA and pants - great quality, very mobile, and rare to get a stinger on either of them. I ended up replacing the pants after about 3 years (2-3x per week) with Warrior X2s because I wanted to upsize and have an internal belt, but they were still in solid shape. Keeping the CA (870 Prospec) though!
  7. For sale I have a Brian's Subzero3 blocker. Made in Canada, solid, and in great condition aside from puck marks. Red on blocker is padwrap that I can remove ahead of time, as it's starting to peel in a few places, and underneath it's all white. Palm in good condition - usual wear after a few years of regular (2-3x) shinny and league play, but no holes or tears. Minimal smell as I air our and spray after every game. Blocker has great rebounds and I really enjoyed the wrist flexibility. Looking for $100 USD/125 CAD plus shipping, or make me an offer.
  8. Sorry @martinyI've decided to donate these.
  9. Sorry @martiny ! Yes still available. Shipping looks to be about $100 CAD, or about 75USD. I'd do 120 USD all in if you want.
  10. Hey all, Just wondering if any of you do alterations/modifications to jerseys off the rack to Goalie Cut, and how. Not common to find a proper GC jersey anywhere, so I was thinking of DIY-ing it. Specifically, just wondering - what size do you buy off the rack? And where do you modify and by how much? Any recommendations on materials? Thanks!
  11. Warrior X2 pants with a McKenney chest protector tucked in - I use the internal belt to get the pants a bit higher, but also suspenders (Kenesky, which are great) over the CA because I like everything to feel like one unit. I'm sure i lose a little coverage that way, but the comfort/mobility makes a big difference.
  12. Amazing! I was thinking of doing something similar with my blocker.
  13. Loving these pants so far after switching a few months (and maybe about 10 skates) ago. Feels incredibly mobile, and the internal belt is fantastic to get them sitting where I want consistently. One complaint is the suspender buttons are a bit cheap, and I've had a couple (on the back loop) pop on me. Bought some from a clothes repair shop for about 5 bucks (for a big pack) and those have held up perfectly.
  14. Hey all, Looking to clean up/get my mask right for the next season now that we've got some time off. It's a Sportsmask x8, about five years old but in good shape minus a few dings here and there in the paint but fine structurally. So far: Recently (last August) refoamed with ECO pro foam, so I may also touch up the glue on that. Bought a new cage and revitalization kit for all of the straps/hardware, so everything is getting swapped. Any other suggestions? Figured I may do a good proper clean with all the hardware/straps removed, but I'm not sure if there are some oth
  15. Oddly enough one of my team's D had one of these kicking around his basement and gave it to me as a joke. Is this what you're looking for?
  16. @coopaloop1234@BMW11190 you're exactly right! been doing it ever since I started - unfortunately hips are just a bit too tight sometimes and this helps. The warrior profile lock is also great for this.
  17. Hi all, Saw this post in another thread and it got me thinking - I really don't understand thigh rises! Does anyone have a good grasp (much like @DL42 does!) how the different brands compare for thigh rises? Had no idea it would be that drastic between brands. Thanks!

    Goalie Camps

I did The Crease Goaltending Camp (Etobicoke, ON) one this past year and really enjoyed it. Great coaching, fairly small group, and good video review each day. It was Friday Evening, Saturday Morning, and Sunday Morning for $350 CAD plus tax. http://creasetraining.pointstreaksites.com/view/goaltendingacademy/ Friday: 7-9pm on Ice (four stations, skating drills, lots of positional/stance fundamentals work) 9pm-onwards wings and beers upstairs Saturday: 9am Video and gear talk 10-12pm Ice (four stations) 12-1 Yoga Was supposed to have a yoga here but it got moved to yog
  19. decided to donate to the Pete's equipment drive! McKenney sr medium Goalie pants for sale - used for the last 3 years 1-2x a week No major damage aside from some small fraying (pictured) and the knee pad attachment came unstitched but has been fixed. Otherwise just puck marks and mild hockey smell (sprayed/aired after every use). Looking for $75 CAD or $50 USD, with shipping to be discussed. Located in Toronto if that makes it any easier.
  20. Just got back on the ice last night for a game after two weeks off. Fortunately there was no game before us so had 30 minutes to play and get it together! ...got scored on by the first shot (screened a bit by defence, but I'll own that one) and played decently well to a 4-3 win. Felt better/looser/more relaxed out there, and the mental break really helped. Physically the issue (IT band) seems to be better, and going to physio tomorrow to work it out. Thanks all for the advice and encouragement - really needed that break, but also really needed the encouragement to do it!
  21. Okay, got it! I'll leave it in. Thanks @chile57 for the keen eye and thanks all for the advice.
  22. Hey all, Was taking apart my G4 pro glove the other day to tinker, and saw this piece inside the glove under the removable palm. I'm assuming this is the pro palm insert I see on all the product literature? Just curious if any other G4 users keep theirs in or not? I find my glove closes fine, but is still somewhat stifff after a year and change of using it 1-2x a week, as well as trying the Keep33 cycle.
  23. You're right on the money with this! I swear, some days it's so easy to get caught up in things that I forget it's supposed to be a fun activity. When it stops being fun or I just want a break, it's okay to do that.
  24. Yeah, for some reason both my league game and pickup both continued throughout the christmas break! While I love to play, I was definitely hoping for at least one of those off.
