  1. I was all set to purchase a White with a little Sliver accent HyperLite 2 set but they were missing the matching blocker. More on this weekend I start up my thread.
  2. I'll start a new thread when I get the chance.
  3. Did you ever go through with this switch? I was in G3 Pros with Optik 2 gloves and just yesterday I purchased a set of Optik 3. It will be a while until I get to try them on ice though.
  4. What look are you going for? I have always been a white pad guy. I finally joined the dark side today. I'll start a new thread about this crazy adventure as soon as I get the chance. I'm flying back home tomorrow and it's late here in Toronto now.
  5. Sorry for the long delay in replying, Willy. We returned to the ice to finish the season in May/early June. Unfortunately, I strained my MCL and I'm still waiting for a full recovery. I foolishly re-injured it in October and so it's still not ready. I did an MRI in early October but it still doesn't feel right. So, sadly I do not have much update to make on this chesty. I'm dying to get back on the ice because things at work are not going so well.
  6. Sports activities have been on hold since January 7th. The rinks are finally opening up again this Thursday and I've been asked to cover for another game that night too. Not sure if it is wise for me to say "yes" but I did. I'm going to start up another thread as I suddenly have an interest to buy a new set of pads and gloves. I'm out of touch with what's available these days and I want to try something new. Hope you all can help me get up to speed and make an appropriate decision.
  7. So I have used the 2400CA in about 4-5 games and it is feeling quite comfortable now. I have had a few hard shots try to squeeze between my arms/elbows and body but not much of a chance that they will go through. I feel so safe with this on me. I have not had any issues with the upper back neck and front neck. I find it most comfortable with the lower body straps not being tight at all but I like the arms to be tight and very snug. Maybe later as it continues to work in, I will experiment with tightening the lower body straps. I am super happy with this purchase and very glad that I said what the heck and went all the way for this beast of a chesty.
  8. Thanks Willy. I took a chance and used it in two games last week. On the first game, I felt a little off. I found that my angles were quite off. Not sure if I am using the new chesty as an excuse or I was just plain awful. Took the chesty home (I keep my equipment in a locker at the rink) to make some adjustments to the straps. I tightened up the elbow straps since I did not make any adjustments to them prior to that. And on the wrist straps, I think I did them up too tight last time and that combined with loose elbow straps did not work well together. I also changed the hook/holes that the back straps go through. I changed the upper one to go through the two hook/holes at the very top and left the lower straps going through all of the lower hook/holes. The hope is that this would pull the back of the chesty down causing the front to pull up. With these changes, the unit as a whole felt much better and I played a much better game overall. TBH, it didn't feel too bulky and awkward anymore. Looking forward to a shinny game this weekend (very rare to have shinny ice time here in HK) where I will get a chance to make adjustments when I sit out in the three goalie rotation.
  9. Ask Howie if he has ever come to Hong Kong for the Hockey 5s. I actually played for one of the Vancouver group of guys. Jasper was on my team last year on the Gaggia team. He now works for Gaggia, which is a coffee company. He also became a father recently so congrats to him.
  10. Yes. I play with and against many of the HK national team players here both players and goalies. Which one of them is the one in Vancouver now? There are a few guys from Vancouver that used to come here to play in the international tournament pre-Covid. It was a pretty big tournament with teams from all over the world including Europe, Asia and many North American players. We've even had a few former NHLers participate in the past.
  11. Just curious how tight do you guys do up the straps on the arm. There are four sections straps: 1) The elbow floaters that are attached by the velcro straps, 2) The upper elastic straps behind the biceps, 3) The lower elastic straps just above the wrists, and 4) The velcro straps at the wrist. Thanks
  12. Sounds like both of you like the waist straps fairly on the tight side. I ask because I tried my (new and still fairly stiff) 2400 on the other day during a coaching session with some kids that were mostly in the 10 to 14 age group. I had the waist straps on as tight as can be and I found that it would make the upper chest area bulge up and out a little because the waist would move up a little. So I loosened it a little and it relieved that upper situation. I think this is because it is still brand new as this was the first time wearing the 2400 with full equipment on. I haven't been using suspenders up to this point, which means that the pants are also done up as tight as I could do them. My wife is finally home so I won't be able wear it to sleep anymore. Yes, believe it or not, I did wear it to sleep on a few nights. lol Thanks for your responses.
  13. The question of whether you tuck in or leave outside of the pants has been asked many times. For those of you that have the 2400 and you leave it out, do you have the waist straps on tight, loose, or in the middle? And why?
  14. Oh.... I thought that's what you guys meant. Lol. But it worked out well because I worked in the elbow flex while in the shower by bending and straightening my elbows over and over with the water running over the arms. I figured this would help increase the break in of the elbow flexibility. I think it worked as it feels much less stiff now.
  15. Do you guys recommend multiple affairs in the shower or just once is good enough and won't make any more difference? I'm thinking about going for another round tonight.
  16. Can't let my wife know that I shared the shower.... The wet suit : And here she is all tied up :
  17. Initially, I had the idea of just staying down in the butterfly and letting the other kids bombard me with shots but I forgot about doing that once I got on the ice. lol
  18. It was alright. I didn't find the weight to be an issue, although I didn't have it on for too long because I needed to do some shooting drills with the kids too. I find that holding it up, you can feel the weight but once you put it on, I didn't feel like there was much of a difference to my other C/A. I found the front of the 2400 to stick out more than my old C/A but that would have a lot to do with it being new and stiff, and also the multiples more of padding vs the old. I'm going to shut down marking tests now... Go take a shower and then have the 2400 join me after in the shower after I'm done. I'll report back in about 24 hours on any changes noted on the break in of the 2400.
  19. Your post inspired me this morning. I read your post just before I headed out to my volunteer coaching gig with a local hockey training for U16 kids. I don't have any of my own kids in this thing but I know the guy that runs it and he's asked me if I could come out whenever I can since they do not have anyone to coach the two goalies. I never wear a C/A when I coach them but after reading your post, I thought it would be a good opportunity to at least try it on with the rest of my gear that I keep in a locker at the rink. So this was the first time I put on the 2400CA with the rest of my gear on. It was good to get a feel of what it will be like and I'll be putting it in the hot shower some time this week and then I'll consider whether I will be using it this week or wait for the scrimmage later this month. I'm leaning towards the latter idea.
  20. I'm wearing the 2400CA as I am marking test papers. lol Man this thing feels like I can walk into a shooting gallery and just walk towards the shooter as he is blasting away and I would not feel a thing. I am looking at the design of the biceps, where I have gotten many bruises recently with my past C/A and I cannot see anything penetrating to cause any kind of bruise now. I love how the white piece floats around in the bicep area and rotates outwards to keep it facing the shooter direction. I still need to put this through the warm shower run but I don't play again until next Thursday if I decide to try it then or wait until I have a scrimmage later this month instead. I need to read the literature that John included in the shipment. I haven't read it yet but I noticed it says things about the straps and such...
  21. I think it's just you. lol Here is my clothed shot making that pretend glove save because that's what we do in our photos. And in the usual equipment photo taking room.... The bathroom.
  22. Sorry Willy. Here goes... First is the prerequisite couch photo. lol And now the rest...
  23. It is from Polar Express! But I have to go out for dinner first. Back later.
  24. I just received a message from my helper that a big package has just arrived. Hoping this is what I think it is. I'll post some pictures later if it is.
  25. Anyone know what the break is on the Brian's Optik? I picked it up about two years ago and I really like it. It's my first Brian's and I wouldn't mind picking up another set. My all time favourite is the Vortek VK5.
