Hey everyone. I have these Vaughn Velocity V6 1000 Pro pads that I had gotten used. I definitely like the pads themselves, but something I do not like is the leather straps. They just take so long and are very annoying to put on. So, I was looking into maybe doing a DIY and changing out the leather straps into something newer, like elastic velcro or nylon straps. But, I have never done a mod to gear so I’m not sure where I should start. So I’m looking for some help on what I should do. New leg pads are quite expensive so I’m looking to wait until I really should get an upgrade to get them. One of my biggest questions is: What straps should I be getting? And where could I find those? (Links would be helpful) I saw someone do a mod on their Velocity 1100 V6’s and they had a y-strap that seemed to just fit into the old leather strap pocket, and they just had to stitch it in. That post can found here: (https://www.thegoalnet.com/forums/topic/1957-updating-strapping-on-v6-pads/) Is there anything like that out there or would I have to ask the company specifically as they did with Kenesky? I have also heard of someone taking it to a local shop and getting it done but sadly I don’t have any local shops. Any other advice and any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ll post some pictures of my pads down below.
Hey guys. I just wanted to start a thread to help people like me find places to find materials for gear mods. I'm getting the hang of using the sewing machine from fixing rips from my work pants and small mods like additional elastic and nylon pad straps. But i would eventually like to refurbish/reskin my Bauer one60 blocker down the road. No experience yet ordering from these places yet but they were recommended by the community here and a few other people I talked too on FB groups. Hello, I'm looking into getting new pads and was curious to hear some opinions. Currently I have a set of CCM Eflex 2 860s, 34+2. They have pretty stock strapping with 2 velcro, 2 leather calf straps, 1 leather strap below the knee and a boot strap. I've had these pads for close to 4 years and I'm looking at upgrading. The velcro for the strapping has worn down and doesn't stick or hold in certain spots (i.e. I can't have the calf strap as tight as I want, as the velcro will just won't hold and the strap will come off). I have also been landing in the lower portion of the landing pad, and sometimes even half off the pad. This is probably due to overall wear of the pad. I'm also considering if maybe I should scale down to a 33+2 pad. I'm 5' 11" with my floor to knee height being around 19.5" Right now I'm looking at either buying new or used (from sideline swap) Eflex 3 (pro or 3.9). Or I buy new Eflex 4.9 (I haven't seen much as far as used 4's on sale). In any case I'm pretty dead set on sticking with the CCM Eflex line of pads. EFlex 4 look appealing, but the stock strapping is drastically different and stripped (couple of velcro straps, bootstrap, and bungee lace) than what I've been playing with my whole career. Without the budget to order custom gear, what would you say to someone who's been in a pretty standard strapping setup for so long wanting to move to the simplified quick motion strapping of a stock Eflex 4? And should I buy a slightly smaller pad to better fit my legs? Thanks
