While I cannot advise as to what is the safest foam, I will say that I have had good experiences with the shocktec product. Many years ago I had planned on supplementing it with additional sheets of d30 in select areas between the shell and the other foam but never got around to it. Perhaps one of these days?
Is that the Air2Gel foam from them?

Brown does this exactly. It's very impressive what John has done over the years and this explains his excellent reputation. If you want the perfect fit and top protection, he's your man.

If you want the best protection in the market, then Brown is your choice. Add the Russian Spec to a custom Brown chesty and no matter what level of shots you are facing, you won't feel a thing.
Will 2nd this have only had my Brown a short time, but have not felt a thing since I have. It’s warmer but not hot as some have said, and arm mobility is surprisingly considering some of the warnings/stiffness I had been given although being 6’8 having long arms maybe it’s more a leverage thing and less chance for interference with the elbow floaters.

So are any NHLers wearing small manufacturer’s C/As anymore? Kenesky, Brown, Passau, other? Or is it all CCM, Bauer, Vaughn and what, one Brian’s?
Couple of guys in Brown, Delia & Samsonov.

is it just me, or is the upper backplate strap not adjustable?
Looks like the cross down behind head and go to the opposite lower side. So guessing that’s where you adjust it.

@jerd31 yes I did replace my foam using the method I posted BUT soon after I suffered 2 concussions due to pucks to the mask. Then after 6 weeks off ( had treatment during this time) I felt better so came back and played one game and took a knee to the head and was out for another 2 months with another concussion. During this time off I took the Resilient foam out of my mask and and laid it out next to the stock 960 foam and dropped pucks on them from about 3 feet above. When the pucks hit the Resilient foam they bounced back up about 18”. When the pucks hit the stock 960 foam they didn’t bounce at all. So what I figured was the resilient foam was transferring the impact from the pucks and knee to my head whereas the stock 960 foam was absorbing the impacts and minimizing the force delivered to my head. So I cleaned up the stock foam and put it back in my mask and have played for several months since and taken lots of shots off the mask with no issues whatsoever.
Note that my 960 is relatively new, I bought it in late 2021. The reason that I wanted to replace the stock foam was because I was getting tired of having to squish out my sweat from the foam after every game.So in hindsight I wish I didn’t replace the foam and in the future I will do as my wife originally told me and just buy a new mask rather than refoaming.
Obivously this is just my case, I’ve read lots of positive reviews about people using resilient foam, so I appear to be the odd one.
What foam type did you use from them?
Thanks in advance -

After you move the hooks. How close is the actual strap to the buckle does it hit? Will it mess up the locking of the buckle to make it pop off easier?
On mine it slightly curls in to the underside of the buckle, but does not make it pop open or make the strap start to wear down.

For me the felt great in store but so much better once I got them home and dialled in. Loved that you can make micro adjustments with out having to unlace a whole skate and once you have it dialled in it’s perfect each and every time.

Obviously we have no way to be sure until the unit releases...but if we use arm length as a baseline (which should be proportional to body length), this Brian's unit looks to be shipping shorter in the torso than the AB18Pro.
Here's a rough side-by-side - I cut the little half moon piece off the bottom of my CCM, based on pro returns floating around it looks like most guys are doing the same.
Perspective is a little skewed in these photos. Using the neck opening as a reference, we are looking slightly downward on the Brian's and slightly upwards on the CCM.
If we really wanted to get crazy with it, I could measure the chest block height and count from the collar to bottom of unit on the CCM, and we could probably extrapolate what we know about block sizes on previous Brian's units...
So I recently spoke to Brians about the length of their XXL sized version of this unit. I was told the wrist to shoulder arm measurement was around 23” and the measurement from top of the neck coller to the bottom of the pad was around 27” but they didn’t have a unit in the factory to 100% confirm it. But the body measurement on the XL unit which they did was 25”.

Loving the look of this unit, for thouse that have seen it, is it as wide as it looks?

Yup the chest and shoulders
Is that because of the whole floating chest piece?

Im also curious about a few more things these skates can do... Has anyone ever played out as a player in them and/or goalie coached in them before?
I do goalie coaching in them, you get all the benefits of what they are designed to do.

Thanks. My shop said I can’t get them unless they break
See my shop said that at first because only they could replace them, but when I said they twisted out and didn’t need to come to a shop to done they said ok. The shop I got them in the UK thought you had to drill out the whole buckle section not realising that it was a simple screw in and out.

Where did you get spares?
I just phoned up the store I bought them through and asked for some spares just in case they broke, they sent them free although I’m sure they could have, when I emailed Bauer to get some they said to contact the shop.

Checking in to see if anyone knows if Bauer has sorted out the buckle issue? Was it just a bad batch?
That seems to be case, I’ve not had an issue with mine but have 2 spare just in case I ever did.

Good eye. Just realized it also says intermediate sizes and only ultralon foam in the ankle not the whole foot
Apparently it will have a lower model for next year.
Safest foam option?
