  1. Finished this helmet up for one of my favourite goalies. It's based off the team he grew up playing on, the VP Bearcats. Started with a green base and the red and white stripes from their jerseys. The sides have a bit of a torn away look that form the shapes of trees and reveal the team's snarling bearcat logo. 'Bearcats' fills up the top while the last name fills the chin. The tendy was number 30 so those are 'frosted' over the green areas. Lastly, the edges are done with a jagged style to fit in with the snarling bearcat.

  2. MOOSE ON THE LOOSE! Finished this one up in time for beer league. Got the Kachina Moose done in a sketchy, brush stroke style over top of a black metallic and the Moose head ‘ghosted’ on the white. To finish it off, I gave it a flat clear and a 22k gold cage. Nothing says beer league goalies can’t look good to.

  3. Can’t wait to get this Slovak mask on the ice! The oversized Slovak crests are put over top of the team colours that are laid out the same as Slovakia’s white jerseys. The top is a heavy, dark blue metallic, the bottom is a clean, white metallic, and separating the two are jagged, red points that are made with brush strokes which represent the Tatra mountains. Silver pinstripes on the white mimic the Slovak national anthem that goes across the body of the jersey while the lightning goes up the mask to form a ‘lightning’ crest on top.

  4. Did this mask up for a tendy going into university hockey. Started with the school crest up top, the team name on the sides,  and the school’s letters subtly in behind the team name. The tendy also plays lacrosse so he wanted to incorporate the shape from a lacrosse helmet which was perfect to separate the team colours top to bottom. Lastly, the school crest was specked in on the chin and the school motto was snuck in behind the cage to finish it all off.

  5. Finished up this mask for a local bow hunting tendy. He wanted something that has a hunting/Canada vibe. It started with his nickname ‘Foddy’ on the chin, moves up to a pencil sketch of a moose on one side and a deer on the other, and then some arrows on the top. Trees are used to break up the different parts and bring in the nature feel. The outlines are sketched in to go along with the pencil sketches of the moose and deer. Lastly, crosshairs are ‘frosted’ over the white areas for more of the hunting idea. The red, black, and white colour scheme is used to give it the ‘Canada’ look and tie into the colours of his gear.

  6. Second helmet finished up for the Current River Storm ⚡️! The goalie let me do whatever on this one so I went with the opposite approach from the first Storm helmet. Instead of a clean, simple design on a white base, this one is covered in logos with brush strokes and jagged edges. Those tie into the jagged lightning coming from the ‘electrified’ Storm logo on the top of the mask. All of this is on a pearl black base to really make it all stand out.

  7. Did this one up for a guy who was in a Canada Day weekend tournament. Sweaters are light grey with black stripes so kept to just black and white colour scheme. I put oversized team logos on the sides and his last name on the chin. I tried something different with brush strokes in the white base to have separation between the white in the logo and last name. Then, to tie in with the brush strokes, I used a silver paint pen to make a rougher, ‘sketchy’ outline around the logo. Finally, because the guy is a Potvin fan, I frosted a Potvin design over top of everything so that it’s subtle and can be only seen in the right light.

  8. Finally got to use my new Sportmask X8 after I painted it. Punisher theme mask for a 4 on 4 league. The sweaters are desert storm digital camo with the Punisher skull on the front. Now I need to find more helmets

What flex profile is recommended for someone who is generally happy with the standard CCM "pre-curved, single internal, single external" break?

I've been trying to figure this out as well. I'm leaning towards Ultrasonic with the Stabiliflex kneeblock but I'm not sure how the Ultrasonic medium flex point compares to Eflex.

  10. I have a GT2 and it's one of my favourite pieces I have. I wore it right away in a league game and within a period it felt awesome. No awkward break in period like my previous chesty. It is unbelievably comfortable and even though it's big, it's really mobile. I am 6'1" and skinny and I have an extra large. I found a size guide and it's all based on the arm length. I was skeptical because I'm not an XL in anything but it fits perfect. I can't recommend it enough.

  11. CCM Premier 1.9 chest protector. Was wearing a older Warrior c/a and took a shot right above the funny bone and decided it was time for an upgrade. I chose the CCM because, not being an overly wide guy, it was big so seemed like it would offer good coverage and it also had really good protection for the inside of the arm. Took a little time to get used to and adjusted but after the very first skate the belly extension fell off. It looked like it was only sewn on in 3 small areas. After a few months of skating in it, one of the leather loops on the side that the elastic straps run through to tighten it to your stomach had ripped off. One of the last times I used it, I had found that one of the plastic cinch clips on the elastic straps was broken. And for the entire time of wearing it, my arm would always bind up on the shoulder floater when drinking from my water bottle. Switched back to a Warrior GT2 and I can't say enough good things about it. Wore it right away to a league game and after one period I was completely comfortable in it. The shoulders are extremely mobile, it's light, and it is ridiculously comfortable to wear. It is a big C/A but not bulky.
