Unlikely unless prolaces “push” model works as expected. Skate lace is still the optimal way to play the post at higher skill levels and highly encouraged by coaches and goalie partners for quicker post movements

Hoping that someone can find out/compile tangible data on the performance difference and ankle strain difference between the two.

But you're right, bungees haven't really caught on with the current era of NHL goaltenders (I think I've seen maybe only 6 goalies use them so far this year).  It'll be interesting to see if the next crop of goaltenders in 5-10 years will retain use of bungees as they graduate to pro, since bungees usually come standard default with most stock pads nowadays.

Talking to people with ins to warrior they were going to push into the nhl this year but instead focused on getting G6 properly released with all the colorways and custom orders

They were only going to do it if they could get a big name to sign on (I heard they were targetting Markstrom)

Is the wait time for these listed at like 3 months?

I ordered mine 2 weeks after launch (~Nov 24) and received in 11 weeks.

  4. How do you guys strap your pads/FRS (tight, loose, specifics?)  Currently having an issue with my right pad having a tendency to stay pointed outwards after getting up from butterfly to a standing position.

My right thighrise overlaps top of the left thighrise in like 99% of situations, if that matters.

Also, does anyone else's 590 do this? If I seal the T/upper half, the wrist lifts off (and puck can slide out), if I push with the wrist down, the pocket/T lifts up and the puck can slide out20230226_215858.thumb.jpg.eeca5fca72a74529c59fdb297feda494.jpg20230226_215908.thumb.jpg.7c2dbc4b9734071e1e9a368cce7f4f85.jpg

This just refers to the stiffness of the breaks on the pad. Not the actual face

I was curious about this, so I sent an email to one of the reps at True's factory (I had to get in touch with them previously for a colour zone issue)

The rep confirmed the soft/stiff option refers to the core of the shin, which means shorter/longer rebounds depending on which way you go.

I went with TCG, as well - got to love the CAD --> USD exchanges rates. Should see the set around early- to mid-March. Went with 31+2.5" because their sizing runs a bit large, after seeing the 32" match up precisely with a Small Mach in Bauer. Excited to also be back in a 580 glove :)

Interesting take on the sizing - I'm currently in an Xtra-Small Bauer Ultrasonic (32+) and I seemed to size well in a stock 32+2 True, and in addition my FTK according to True's sizing chart indicates the same, so that's what I went with on my order.

  7. I got my order in a bit later (Nov 22-23) with the website listing 8-10 weeks lead time.  I think the guys who got pre-orders in before the official release date (Nov 10) will get their sets in really fast, anyone after will probably be more on later end of that timeline with all the orders flooding in from retailers.  If I get mine before January, I will be really surprised lol.

My store doesn’t have the tools. They don’t stock the skates but can order them so they don’t have all the stuff

If they can order skates then they can just ask Bauer to send the necessary parts with the shipment.  The shims and toe sleeves literally come in a little packaged bag like you would find off the wall like with mask screws/straps, pad straps, or whatever little accessories they sell.

  9. I'm expecting to give these a fitting on Monday.  I'm curious about insoles - I have collapsed arches and currently use a Ccm performance insole in custom Trues (I've tried about 3-4 different ones including various superfeet) and this is the only one that doesn't give my arches cramps. Should I fit with the stock insole first then make adjustments after, or start with the insole that works for me right now?

Trying them on will not tell you if they'll form to your feet well or not.  The 8's that I could usually stand to be in with other Bauer skates felt awful unbaked.  I would either talk directly to a Bauer rep at length or wait till you know someone else with as wide of feet as you to confirm they can be shaped that wide.

They're supposed to feel awful unbaked.  Even the True TF9's feel like garbage until you bake them - people are seriously underestimating how moldable skates are nowadays.

So tempted to get one of these units.

Anyone who's had it for a while, what's the verdict?

Have the arms softened up and become more flexible?

Ordered a custom coloured unit late in the summer that arrived in early October.  Break in process took a bit and I would say the over-the-head movements with the arms still isn't great ( basically any time biceps get near the ears there's a lot of resistance).  But as far as flexibility during game situations, it's been perfect since week 2. I don't find myself contorting my arms in weird positions, so if you're mechanically sound with how you move your arms and hands, flexibility shouldn't be an issue.

I don't use the rib pillows because it just doesn't feel comfortable in any configuration, tucked or untucked.  Just doesn't have that "wrap around the waist" feel with them in and it pushes the whole belly outwards.  Downside is that you do feel more of the impact on shots to that area because without the pillows, the rib area is comparatively thin - I've been hit twice there while RVH'ing the blocker side.  Doesn't hurt, but does wind you a little.

Frontal area coverage and protection is perfect.  Would say it's a great balance of being aware of where the puck hits you, but protective enough to be 100% confident in protection.  Also does a great job of deadening the puck - puck doesn't really bounce off much creating bad rebounds.

Only thing I'm still trying to work out is the sizing.  I ordered size small, and I am looking into shortening the belly by another 2-3".  Due to the current length, the chest pushes against the pants/jock area when I get into a loaded stance, which in turn pushes the chest upwards.

My previous chest is a custom Pro pack Passau.
