  1. The new owner said the team name will be "Utah" and not "Salt Lake City", apparently they're going to come up with some options and put it out to a fan vote.

Here's what they've trademarked thus far:

    • Utah Venom
    • Utah Blizzard
    • Utah Fury
    • Utah HC
    • Utah Hockey Club
    • Utah Yetis
    • Utah Outlaws
    • Utah Mammoth
    • Utah Ice
  2. Last season, I subbed for a mid-level C league team and gave up 5 goals.  Wasn’t my best game, but the team also had no business in a mid C league.  I typically play B level and have played a decent amount of A and held my own, so I’m pretty decent.

I got word from a teammate who occasionally subs for this garbage team that the guy that runs the team said I suck.  Mind you, this guy is a literal ankle bender and should be in an instructional league, but ok I suck.

So now I’m vengefully following their season and looking to sub for any team that plays against them.  In their first two games, they’re 0-2 with 16 goals against.

    Well...

Just got news that the team has been sold to the Utah Jazz owner and that he intends to move the team there, providing he builds an appropriate arena within the next 5 years.

So the league falls short at 31 for the next little while? Will there be a mad scramble to fill in the gap? Will Québec finally have their chance? Or will Bettman screw us over again with another American team franchise?

Either way, this will affect the schedule for next season no doubt.

??  There are still 32 teams.  Utah will

play where the Jazz do until they build a new stadium.

I’d bet they go to 34 in the next 5 years, with Atlanta getting a(nother) team and either Phx if Muerello gets a stadium built or they do Houston.

  4. Since my Flyers have something like a 3% chance for the last spot, I'm hoping to see the Red Wings go on a run after last night's game.

I remember the post on here, his family owns Fusion mask ( mother I believe runs it, makes the masks)  and then he branched out and started that business. There are few threads on here about it.

    Well that's unfortunate.

Is Turbo Tax as good as using an accountant? I always used a family member for my taxes - but due to family conflicts - I'm not this year.

It's just me and my one job for taxes. Really straightforward.

I ran them through turbo tax already but didn't file yet. Was looking to ensure this was my best bet.

Are you taking the standard deduction?  Really no reason to use an accountant if you are.  You can even just use the free tax service from them.

  7. Flyers managed to smuggle 6’8” Ivan Fedotov out of a Russian gulag and got him to Vorhees Nj, which is arguably worse than being trapped in Russia.  They sent Sandstrom down to the AHL so looks like Fedotov will at least be on the bench right off the bat.

Interesting he’s wearing a Wall mask.

Nice! Those look comfy too. Do you find it to ever be too tight or just right amount of tightness?

They’re perfect for me.  I use the XL size

A pic would be cool to see for me as well. I have always wondered if compression pants would be too tight over a knee pad, but i suppose if the knee pad is small enough it should be okay. Likely not the way to go for my giant KOHO 589 knee pads, but always nice to see what other goalies are doing.

Here you go fellas.  There’s a grip band on the inner top of the sleeves which helps keep them from slipping down, although the knee pad itself also keeps them compressed pretty well.  I get zero slippage/movement on my knee pads with these.

@jerd31I have never seen these before. How is the durability of the material? I like that they cover the full leg as well instead of just the knee. Do you have any pics of you wearing them? I am interested in trying these out but would like to see how they look first.

I have a game tonight so I'll try and remember to take a pic.  They last me a good while- I've gotten about a year out of a pair but I can probably get more out of them.  They're cheap enough to replace every once in a while.

I turned 47 yesterday. Crappy birthday this year. But I did get tickets to a concert in June from my GF to a Teskey Brothers show.

Bauer looks to be coming out with their own at-home sharpener to compete with the Sparx.  I’ve been contemplating picking up a Sparx but will certainly hold off to see what Bauer is coming out with.

Anyone have any info on this?
