  1. I use Passau's and absolutely love them. However, not sure if they're what you're looking for as they don't have as much padding as the Warriors. I do find they stay on better and slide less than warriors did. It also depends on the extra padding you're using. I know some guys use volleyball pads, I've used Gform underneath with pretty good success: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081J8K9LT

Something you can also look at are floorball pads like https://www.blindsave.com/collections/knee-pads/products/knee-pads-original. Not as protective  but a good cushion. I believe PAWs can be as similar.

  2. Between the rebounds and the look, I almost went with the Machs except the strapping just felt weird to me..

Shadow looks good but dammit, I like the Mach name better.

I can second this he's done it before. Very curious to see how he specs out his bauer leg pads when he inevitably switches to them.

He tried out a full set of Bauer's before the season started. Guess they weren't what he wanted yet since he switched back.

I'm waiting for him to go full Tim Thomas and a mish-mash of brands. Course I guess these days they'd just reskin the gear.

Just noticed he's also switched to two piece true skates

Wedgie would put everyone here to shame with how much of a gear whore/nerd he is. He'll talk you ear off about this stuff.  He's probably the one who talked Otter into True skates.

I e-mailed Bauer directly (warranty.US@bauer.com). They asked for a picture, and then gave me a return shipping label for the broken buckle. Pretty painless. I think my first buckles broke within 3-4 months of getting the skates new. Got that replaced, then the buckle on the other skate broke. Haven't had issues with the replacements, so it seems whatever the flaw was, it was been remedied. Only issue I have now is the lower rack seems to wiggle a bit more than I would like.

Did you have any issues with the replacement? Or is that one still going strong?

I emailed their regular customer service email. Didn't know about the warranty one. They didn't ask for a picture,  just sent me the buckle. Actually now that I think about it, they didn't even ask me which buckle broke (top or bottom).

Haven't had any issue with that replacement buckle. We'll see if the other one holds up.

When they broke, did you get replacements from Bauer? Or did you epoxy it and it broke again? Just curious.

Different ones. I got one replacement from Bauer but it took me like 2 months and multiple emails.  The second by sheer luck from the goalie guy at my not so local monkeysports. Funny enough, that was a few weeks ago before I needed it. I asked since I was there and figured a spare would be good. Glad I did because I'm not sure on how long it would take bauer again.

BTW, the epoxied one worked just fine. I'll probably do the same with the newly broken one and use them as emergency backups.

You're telling me a first generation Bauer product had design and durability issues?

I would never think if see the day.

Bauer products are always second/third generation items.

I have early adopter syndrome, not just on hockey gear either. I have to live with this curse.

As for the broken buckles, I've had them break twice in the same exact way. One side of the wire pops out of the holder. Fixable with epoxy but it loses some flex. I blame my fat feet.

  8. I hope the lower buckles are more durable than the first gen ones. And if so, I hope they're backwards compatible because I just broke one again. Thankfully I have a back up.

So far that's the only complaint I have about the konekt.

  9. I'm going to chime in also with the EE width and also weird flat but not flat arches. Konekts with yellow superfeet are the best feeling skates I've ever worn.

Thank god the new ones don't seem to change much thus my desire to throw more money away isn't there.

Binnington is victim to Bedard's first lacrosse goal

Yet another reason that the RVH is overused and bad. At least that's what social media is telling me.

  11. I was a little iffy on removing the inner velcro flap for the pseudo-professor strap but I noticed they brought the outer wrap more inside.

Though I do feel it loses a bit of the charm/uniqueness with going away from the triangle calf strap and the stretchy fabric knee strap.

I wonder if the calf pillow is removable and can be added to the G6s <_<

  12. I still swear by the super expensive grit goalie  bag. Not just because of the sunk cost fallacy. It's like a mini-locker to hold most of my gear and the pad attachments are pretty good.

As comfy as the xf bucket is it just isn't visually appealing. I'm sure there's a better reason than that for switching though. Idk go catch him at a morning practice and ask lol

A volunteer equipment guy told me it's because his old mask is lighter.

Equipment guy likes how the XF mask feels but it's noticeably heavier than Remi's old mask.
