  2. The longer this goes on the closer we get to two things:

Draistl and Mcdavid in another uniform

    OR

Oilers overpaying for a proven commodity like Hellebuck, Bobrovsky or Saros (while those teams eat cap hits for good assets.)

I love bob, and feel like he's gotten a bad shake in florida with his usage and three coaches in three years- but if they can get great stuff for him they should move on and give the net to Stolarz and Knight

  3. Does anyone use a Hi-Lo Chassis on converted skates? I recently made a change to get a taller wheel, and this weekend I felt like I was "Slipping on a Banana Peel", even fell about 6 or 8 times backward.

I previously used the Tour goalie skates with a 59MM 5 wheel chasis.

This weekend I was in a Mission Hi-Low Chassis on a Cowlingless Bauer Skate, 72MM across (couldnt find 68mm on short notice for a tournament).

How should I choose the wheels?

68MM, 68MM, 68MM, 68MM (I have this setup outdoors and slip out too)

    72mm, 72mm, 72mm, 72mm (I liked the height indoors for mobility)

68MM, 68mm, 72mm, 72mm - Using the hi-lo chassis, im afraid going to one size wheel might be the reason, the 3rd wheel only touches with my weight in.

Lookign for suggestions after 15 years in the 47mm/59mm hell.

So the screw material isn't the same for all of their skates. Some plastic, some steel. Son's plastic one broke in warmups. Pro shop didn't stock new screws (why not?). So I drove to the local PIAS about 7 mins away. Bought a pair of used CCM skates with the steel screws, drove back in time to put them in my kid's skate before the end of the first period while he was sitting on the bench.

Man, thats awesome. I broke my skates once when I was younger... Dad left to get me new wheels but never came back.

    Kudos to you.

IIRC there was a sample set made for Darling as well floating around social media goalie gear groups

Also, there was an InGoal mag article that references how much work it was to get Roloson's gear right when he was a Warrior athlete, but it's since been deleted
    (https://ingoalmag.com/news/ingoal-insider-a-closer-look-at-dwayne-rolosons-pads/)

Here's the link that proves it existed at one point
    https://modsquadhockey.com/forums/topic/57339-rolosons-warrior-pads-from-ingoal-magazine/

If i remember correctly, wasn't it Roloson and Tim Thomas who made Warrior rethink making pro gear because of how picky they are- and then the advertising fees put the nails in that coffin

  6. He guys, has anyone foamed a sk2000 without the harness system? I really don’t like the way the foam is out into these helmets and would like a way to foam it like a cute T player helmet / goalie helmet where the foam is stuck to the shell directly.

Where does everyone get their supplies for them?

    Thanks!

  7. I think the ESPN or TNT feeds are blacked out in NY, where you can only watch the local feeds. Pretty much its destroying the ratings not having all the Rangers fans not watching the National Telecast while Florida and other states do.

  8. From what I remember too- someone said last year there were no blackout rules for games in local markets. Now there are blackout rules. Major markets that drive ratings are not included anymore. NY, PIt, Phi, Bos.

Read on 'Blade of Steel' today that the NHL was caught lying about attendance at the NHL All Star Game. They were telling everyone that it was a sellout while pictures from people there say otherwise. Not that I blame people for not wanting to be in attendance for that flaming pile of poo.

FWIW - they seem to use pictures from the skill competition introductions or warm ups as evidence there were empty seats. No shit.

Skills competition was empty, not alot of fans in the seats. It sucked IN the arena. 5 mins of action then 30 mins of sitting. Alot of people left an hour in when they realized it sucked. I was in Bettmans section apparently. Really really bad and too many corporate sponsored tickets. One section was all jackass businessmen in checkered blue shirts.

The all star game was packed, but they had ALOT of things going on in the concourses. Jameson bars, food, merchandising and LONG MENS bathroom lines. There was also a large outdoor bar as well. All of those looked packed between "games" and even during from what friends said.

Problem was, the fans were in the seats. The free tickets to sponsors were too busy in the other areas.
I sat in seats in the lower bowl until midway through period 2... at that point the seats owner actually showed up.

    Here's the whole complex:

Atlantic City to seek proposals for Bader Field | Latest Headlines | pressofatlanticcity.com

It's a killer spot. AC has casinos right on the boardwalk. But the rest of the city is ghetto.

When my kids have games at AC - we go out on to the runways and drive. I was trying to get my Jeep over 100 mph - but the runways are short and if you overrun them, you're in the bay.

The city has been kicking around proposals for the entire site for decades. Still nothing new.

That looks like a great place to put a third MLB team in the NY/NJ area. Now that I think about it, weren't the Florida Marlins exploring this exact site in 2001/2002 when MLB was exploring contraction and the team exploring moving?

I've wondered when pro sports may move away from larger arenas. Basically have them play in tv studios with a live audience. This arena may be the first of what may come.

Modern sports stadiums have fewer seats than decades ago. For obvious reasons - going to the game isn't really required for the best way to see the game.

Yotes playing in a small place that's full may be amazing on tv. Supply and demand for tickets is crucial here. As a fan, going to a 5k seat arena would be great. Less traffic, smaller crowd. All seats have great view.

Baseball has already shifted this way. Stadiums are smaller with the people paying more to go (clubs, suites, etc. just make more expensive too). You load up the broadcast with ads. Fans are paying a ton to watch it on tv or however they stream.

NASCAR too has evolved to smaller seating (less were going anyway). So they have to make the tv experience better (quirky tracks) and make their money from quality over quantity.

I could see more NHL teams moving this direction in the future. The Jets are doing ok with it.

Who wouldn't like to see the Hawks move out of a 22k seat stadium and back to a smaller venue?

Or the Bruins in a Garden size place again?

Today in Hockey History: Boston Bruins Bid Farewell to Boston Garden

The general assumption is that's what everyone assumed would happen post covid. Less seats, more of an emphasis on TV angles and views, and squeeze the seats in where they can make money but ensure the TV rights deals are favored.

Looks like to me - through a blurry zoomed in picture - that MAF had a black mask ready to go with all the teams' logos on it around the edges. Then he could just put the team he is with on the forehead with a decal.

I don't know why these goalies who are on the trade bubble all don't have a generic mask ready to go at all times.

EDIT - are they flowers on the mask? Maybe he had a generic one ready to go. Good on him.

Looks like his blackhawks mask but I wonder if he painted over the feathers and then put the wild logo on. Hopefully the beautiful mask is intact under it.

the flowers were on the mask he had a tribal artist do

I used their chart and was confused. On the one hand, a 20" FTK (my FTK measurement) fits in a 32+2 pad, but that pad is for people from 5'8 to 5'10. I'm 5'11, so my recommended size based on height would be a 34+2. Thus, I don't know what size to use.

I find it interesting that you say durability is lacking. I'm surprised that one of the three approved ISBHF pad sets has a severe design flaw like that. To my knowledge, international ball hockey rules require that pads with a sliding system have sliders built into the pad, and only 3 manufacturers currently satisfy that: Passau, ReasonY, and Kenesky.

I'm also curious about why you think ReasonY pads have gotten worse the further they've gone away from trying to replicate ice hockey pads. I get that they're trying to create a distinct ball hockey product, but it's not going to sell well when the pad has to be shipped in from Europe because there are no North American retailers that stock it. I've seen complaints on Facebook from ball hockey goalies that the rebounds are even harder than rebounds off butterfly ice pads, so is that the problem you are referring to with the newer generation ReasonY pads?

With the rules as you stated, you might be able to use Rollerflys and attach them permanently to the insides of goalie pads. I know peoole who have done away with the straps tha thold them in place, and replaced it with Velcro.

  14. Warrior is adding a plastic slide plate to their pads on the g6 line.... for all intents and purposes, that should absolve any issues about "foreign substances" on pads.

For Baseball, the rules are because of physics. A ball with a intentional nick, scuff, or spit dances when being thrown... as in it doesn't follow a traditional route to the plate. It goes up, down, spins differently and can go from 12 to 6 across the plate with a 10 inch drop in the last few feet.

A corked bat allows the ball to travel farther once it makes impact because the wood acts like a spring and allows it to go 20-35 feet farther. Difference between a out a few feet from the wall or three rows deep.

3M slide tape doesn't do anything to the puck, or the ice. It just makes the surface smoother to mimic fresh ice. Every period or game starts with that, this just ensures it lasts a little longer.

For what it's worth, I want the crappiest ice possible. I hate sliding, coming from roller it destroys my hips and knees. If I can drag a 8 foot by 8 foot slab of concrete on the ice with me I'd do it.

For beer league, no one is going to care. I have shown several refs who also play goalie and they have added the tape to their pads. Non beer league? Not sure.

In that case please don't look at my skates.
