  1. I bought some K1915's pads for my daughter, so I can't comment on the models you are looking at, but in terms of build and material quality they are great. She's worn them 2 years, and the only wear is on the outside calf wrap where some velcro on her knee pads was rubbing. They slide well, and rebounds come off pretty hot. Price wise they are tough to beat, even if the technology might not be keeping up with CCM/Bauer, but I would guess they will last longer than either of those.

  2. Passau goalie gloves, senior size with intermediate palms. In really good shape, no smell, glove closes very easily. Glove was rebuilt by Hockey Shop of Horrors as it fell apart internally. Asking $300CAD, located in Calgary. Willing to ship.

These were used by my daughter, I can fit my hand in the catcher but not in the blocker, so for sure need smaller hands.

  3. He was a weirdo that stood out in a group of weidos. He did stuff to his gear that I would never think of or try, and it seemed like he just had fun with playing, which is what we should all be doing. I don't know if he could stop a puck or not, but it didn't matter, he was one of us.

My condolences to his family and friends on their loss. RIP Bunnyman.

The auto market is so fucked right now.

    This is so true.

My car was a 2014 Honda Accord Sport 6 speed sedan I had since new, tons of room, was able to get both daughters goalie bags in the trunk, pads and sticks in the back seat, and lots of room for the 3 of us.

Then 2 weeks ago coming back from older kids hockey we got rear ended at a pretty decent speed, car written off. Getting about $16k CDN, which is ok. Kids both have some whiplash injuries, which is not ok, but it could have been much worse if it had been a bigger vehicle that hit us instead of a RAV4.

But trying to replace it? Civics are now almost $40k CDN for the new manual one I can find in the area, and I can find one used Accord but it's $35k CDN. Mine was paid off, but guess I have to go back to a car payment. If I didn't want a manual again it would be a bit easier, but not any cheaper.

Our plan had ben to get rid of our F150 with the 6.2L since we don't tow anymore, but it's now sticking around for a bit, really don't want 2 payments.

  5. This one hits a little hard. My wife and I have seen them live 3 times, even travelling to Anaheim to see them. But they are also my 2 goalie girls favorite band. With COVID and all the shit that they have missed in their lives the last 2 years, we splurged and got tickets for their tour this year. This was going to be both of their first concert. After we told them we got tickets, my older girl only brought Foo Fighters CD's for her tournament road trip for all the hours of driving.

We listen to Everlong all the time, one of our favorite pump up songs on the way to games.

I'm not sure if Foo will keep going, I have a Led Zeppelin/John Bonham feeling this will be hard to recover from.

RIP Taylor. You've given us lots of good memories.

  6. Got mine on Saturday, they look pretty good. Not sure when I will get to try them out, my kids hockey schedule from now through to the end of February conflicts with my hockey schedule. I do sometimes gear up for the older ones full ice practices so they have 2 goalies, so maybe in the next couple of weeks I'll at least get to do that to get used to them.

Looks like the holder is a good fit. And felt quite a bit lighter.

  7. Still in progress, hoping to have them late this week. However, it may not matter when I get them this month- I only play Sunday nights, and my girls hockey is at the same time as my ice all month, and probably part of February too.

Glad the 266 sounded right to you, I held the blades I got up to the Graf blades in the cowling and they were about the same length, so figured it should be good.

  8. I currently have my 9035's and holders in with the skate guy to put them together, but I'm a little nervous on the holder size. I'm in an 8.5 Graf, and sizing said it should be a 266 holder. Skate guy thought it looked small, guess we'll see. He also has a lot of staff out with COVID, so hoping they are done for my next ice on the 9th, otherwise stuck with my old Bauer One80's for a bit.

I saw a guy the other day at Home Depot with a Nissan pickup. The short one, 4 doors and a 2 foot bed. Like this one:Biggest Quad that'll fit in a CC bed? | Nissan Frontier Forum

The guy was loading a ton of lumber in it. Not just 8' 2x4s - no, he had 12' ones. Plywood, etc.

He had this 6 foot long hitch thing that was like a long arm that held up stuff in his bed. It was amazingly asinine. Give the dude credit, it looked like it wasn't his first time doing it either.

I had a 2006 with this box, it was the only length available at the time. It worked well enough for most things, with a cap on the back you could carry quite a bit. The long box looks better in my opinion.

Loved the 6 speed manual it had, but the fuel economy wasn't much better than the 3/4 ton Chev we bought after it with a 6L V8, and the turning radius on these things is brutal. Towing a 24' trailer with that short wheelbase was...interesting.

  10. I have a Vaughn set and a Passau set, I've never worn anything Warrior but I had Smith SP5000 gloves that I recently retired. I like the Warrior stuff for girls, it's light, very adjustable and breaks in pretty easy. I'm also the goalie equipment coordinator for our city girls hockey system and when I get to buy new gear that's what I get. They both have Warrior pads and Passau gloves now, seems to be the preference. We lucked into some never used senior gloves with intermediate palms for the older one for a steal.

My older one wanted to be a goalie out of the blue, just came up one day right before tryouts started. Went into camp, she had never had a shot taken on her, zero goalie training, so that was a rough year, but she has gotten a lot better. I think the younger one wanted to take after big sister, and she is doing well.

This is probably hardest on the wife, mostly because of the amount of gear that is taking up our basement! I'll have to get pics of our newly built goalie room for that thread.

So my daughter is on a “competitive” team… so competitive that the cost doubled. Nice uniforms, extra ice times, fancy coaches and drills… but with that, is goalering still an after thought? Yup.
Anyway, my daughter volunteered for an exhibition game tonight. I didn’t get a chance to teach her anything, and she never got to practice. Also, I had to get my daughter AND the other goalie all kitted out in the “club’s gear,” including and improvised toe tie repair - because with all the dads in the room who played such and such for so and so years, they know fuck all about goalies. Anyhoo, she enjoyed it, and said she wants to do it again. We’ll see. We’d have a lot to work on. And a trip to the LHS to get her gear game up to snuff. But I love the pictures!

I have 2 goalie daughters, one in U13, one in U18. It's been a lot of fun...and stress! We won't even talk about the financial side- they are too far apart in age and size to keep a lot of hand-me-down, and kid 2 has been blowing past the sizing of stuff I try to hold anyway.

Have fun, I hope she keeps it up!

Classic beer, classic brewery! And a beaut of a 1 litre stein ( i have the same one - but I'm missing appropriate German beers to fill it with just now 😕

I have eight of those steins. For the longest time we could only get the beer in a pack that was the stein and a 1 litre can. I think last year was the first time I found 4 packs of the 500ml cans, no stein with the purchase, so that made my wife much happier!

  13. All prices in CDN and shipping is from Calgary, Alberta.

First up, my barely use Passau set. Ordered just before I broke my leg, so didn't get to use it for about 6 months while I healed, used a few of times mostly as the second goalies to my daughters practices, then COVID hit. Used under 10 times, the more solid boot hurts my bionic ankle with its broken screws and I get more pain and discomfort than I do in my squishy Vaughn V5's.

Pads are about a 33"+2, fit about the same as my 34"+1 V5's. Elastic boot and toe strap, professor strap, got a softer build overall. Got extra gel in the knee stacks. Glove is regular palm, only option was single T and skate lace pocket, not yet broken in. The blocker blocks. Asking $1,700 plus shipping. SOLD

Second is a Bauer R6000 catcher, barely used for the same reasons above, maybe 5 ice times. Not broken in at all, it might have a practice palm as it's pretty stiff. Asking $160 plus shipping. SOLD

Finally have a couple pairs of skates, both 8.5 wide. First pair is Graf Goaler Pro with Vertex cowlings, the second pair is Bauer One80 with lightly used Step Steel. Asking $80/per pair plus shipping. SOLD

  14.  Beer and brisket on Fathers Day, hanging with my 2 goalie daughters on the deck, doesn't get much better than that...found Gretzky beer, not bad. Made in BC and supports his foundatiom.

  15. Here's what my cousin and I had today on the deck...a friend gave it to me as a get well after wrecking my ankle last year. I bought a 6 pack with glasses 8 years ago, was as good as I remembered.

  16. 100% true, just want to avoid that. I'll see about getting shorter boot straps and trying them first before I remove them.

Does anyone have the gel? Here is what it looks like inside my knee. Doesn't look like gel, just foam.
