    Here we go again 😒

Habs trade Monahan for future round pics that give no immediate guarantee they will be able to perform at the NHL level.

Once again we throw away a good contributing player for some cash flow and possible maybes.

Montreal Canadiens, rebuilding since 1994 and on...🙄

I actually see this as the complete opposite. Habs have never committed to a rebuild since 1994. Its always been sign UFAs to plug holes and live in no mans land making the playoffs as a 6,7,8 seed and not being a true contender but also not picking high enough for a chance at elite talent. Monahan has been fantastic, but hes a UFA at years end, rumor has it the one year contract was with another promise to trade him to a contender if habs werent in playoff contention. Why wouldnt they acquire assets to help the franchise? This doesnt mean they cant sign him o\in the off season, and if another team offers him a lot more years and money then maybe its best with his injury history.

Moves like this are the reason they may actually have a contender for the first time since '93, in my opinion.

Sounds like you want a Brians Optik3. Stiff pad with a very aggressive Z curve shape off the shelf.

Other than it being the ugliest graphic of any brand (imo of course) and me disliking the virtual lack of an outer roll, maybe that would be best. Any idea if the iconik would be good? It seems to have a fairly aggressive Z shape. Or is it a softer type of pad on top of an aggressive pre curve?

    Hey all,

I've been curious about how different companies/models offer different degrees of pre-curve in their pads, and what to look for. As a 35 year old with a janky left hip flexor, I'm always looking for a little extra advantage in this regard. For the purposes of this thread, I'm mostly wondering about stock/off the shelf products, as custom is a different ballgame altogether. I've heard Brian's tends to be a bit more curved and saw Dudo's review of the Iconiks having almost a "Z-shape", which sounds intriguing.

Anyone have a sense of how different brands/models compare? I have my Warrior G5s that were pretty straight at first, but with some manipulation/profile lock they've curved quite nicely.

Curious about this as well. I'm 40 and have a couple labral injuries, so my hip rotation is a bit more limited. However, I still play a fairly modern game and would like a stiff pad/stiff thigh rise, hot rebounds, no torsion etc but still want that S or Z style shape so that the thigh rises meet in the butterfly. I'm not a fan of relying on my knee blocks to make the save and just feel more confident with the thighs touching both in making the save but also in case of deflections or active stick work.

Is this just not a possible combination for a pad, only available through custom or is there a retail pad I should consider with these preferences in mind?

Yes, but look like mod that can by done by some gear repair company relatively easily on stock cheset.

I believe the warrior X4 and hyperlite 2 already have this "mod". So I was more wondering if anyone on here might have some experience playing with this set up.

    Yes, exactly!

I didn't explain very well but this was what I had meant. I was wondering if anyone else uses this method? It must work, but it looks kind of like it still pushes the C&A a bit or might limit bending forward.

  6. I was wondering if anyone has tried wearing their C&A untucked but with suspenders? I saw a video on GGN where he mentioned that the warrior X4 had slits between the belly pad and rib pads and that you could have the pants and CA untucked with suspenders running through this seam. I really like the idea of this as I've always been untucked but sometimes find it shifts a bit too much or can ride high and interfere with my mask.

I noticed the hyperlite 2 had had similar spacing between the belly bad rib pad. I was planning on purchasing the hyperlite 2 because of this option but wanted to know if anyone has tried it yet?

    Thanks!

  7. This is going to sound bad, but ultimately I'm looking for pants that are very wide through the waist. I've done a poor job of building a beer belly and am on the slim side.

So wanted something on the wider side higher up through the waist. I don't tuck and am between a med and large, so I was also wondering if I had an internal belt if I could go with size large  or is large usually not any wider and just taller through the thigh. I have a couple GCs to an online retailer so probably would rule out custom or something like Brown. My local retailer only really has CCM or Warrior, so it's difficult to try different brands on or see them in person.

    Thanks for the help!

  8. I dont have an objective answer for you. But I had 34 +1 ccms (my knee hit center of the cradle) and 35 +1.5 (knee seems to land high in the cradle). My warriors definitely seem to have a taller thigh rise. So I'm not sure where the idea that they are much shorter comes from. Doesnt seem to be the case for me at all.

  9. Was hoping to get some feedback. I ordered a protechsport a while back and I know I’ll have 0 issues with the quality of the mask, but was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on the matte black. I’ve seen a couple pictures of protechsports in matte black and they just seem off. Whenever I see an otny or some other manufacturer i love the look of it in matte.

Curious on others opinions on this and if I’m the only one that thinks this?

Sold my G4's and got a new set.

P2 users here: Anyone have issues with the pad returning after rotation? Any time I put the knee strap behind the calf, the toe of the pad doesn't return back. I've tried 1/2" toe tie, 2" toe tie, with and without boot strap, tight, loose, and every strapping adjustment. It ONLY happens on my left leg. ONLY when the knee strap is at the calf. THe right leg is completely fine.

Also noticed that in the b-fly, the problematic left pad in question also gets pushed out more, like my knee almost lands more on the inside of the landing gear.

    Any thoughts?

PS: It's never happened when I was in Warriors or any other pad (Brian's, RBK 18K, Bauer RX's and Vaughn V4)

Have to ask why you got rid of the g4s?

I'll repeat, G4 gloves thusfar have been lousy. GT have been acceptable.

Historically Warrior has  been good but not as of late.

Looking at a set of G4s. So are u referring to only the break in time, or do you find the glove itself worse off (if so, why?)?
