Right now for pants probably the Vaughn SLR pants 3/4. These have quietly moved into the most used pant in the NHL. I think they present well from a straight on position while looking at a goalie in their stance or butterfly. Seem to have decent seal in 5 hole, in RVH leans, etc.

I coach a lot of kids. I might see 100 goalies in a year. The few times I seen Warrior pants used they present like an upside down triangle if you know what I mean. Very wide on the hips and they (visually) look to taper as they get closer to the pads. Again this my objective take on it. You may love them and how they look. But it seems like even the Warrior Pro guys like Smith and Gorsuch aren’t using them.

I've used  x2 pro+ and now x3pro+ pants, I find the thighs to be the beefiest and widest i've ever tried on. Way bulkier than my previous 1s pro or CCM axis. I had to change my pad strapping to fit the larger thighs.

Can you please make photo of the reinforced parts? I had oportunity to try standard one in store (in this same black colour) and would like to compare.

The shoulder floaters will be 1" thick instead of 0.75", biceps and forearms will be a bit thicker as well. Not as noticeable on photos though.

@WONGER Your set is coming in soon right?

What was the lead time from order date to (potentially) on your door step?

I put my order in early march and was quoted around 6 weeks.

Chesty is nice, it’s got bulked up arms. Coming from a hyperlite it is significantly beefier and somewhat heavier, but noticeably higher quality as well.

How's the arm width compared to hyperlite? SLR4 look wider but I've read that they're (also) NHL spec.

Also, is it possible to get the shoulder wings lower and wider? They look very tall stock and would probably interfere with the mask?

Could be. I'm certainly sticking with my G5s.

For anyone impatiently waiting, I strongly recommend picking up some of the 3M ViViD tape/film for your existing knee blocks. Very cheap, pretty easy to apply, long lasting, and very slide-y.

Got a picture of how it looks on the G5s?

I'm not going to say the transition from GT2 to G5 was seamless, because the GT2's were SO easy to move in right out of the box and I ordered my G5's with X-stiff thigh rises.  Believe me when Warrior says X-stiff they mean it on those babies!  So there was an adjustment period and I think it would have been worse if I hadn't had to wait almost a week before trying the pads out.  That week of downtime let me store them upside down and get a nice S-curve started.  By the second time I used them that curve was further along, I was ready for the stiffness of the thigh and overall the pads played much smoother for me.

One thing I never noticed was any stiffness in the ankle area at all, and that is something I'm pretty sensitive to.  I felt like I made a huge mistake with my EF4 setup by skipping the ultrasoft boot area, because the "soft" took a minute to break in and the pads and I didn't get along well until it did.

As far as the dual strapping goes, I've played 2 hours in the loose setting which I liked on the GT2 setup and 2 in the tighter setting.   Quick impressions are that I like the feel of the tighter setting better but my technique has to be just a little better with it because the pad seems to sit a little higher and is definitely more connected feeling.  The looser setting is more what I'm used to from a Warrior pad and still feels really good to me.  Long term I'm not sure which I'll pick but it's nice to have the option.

As far as CoverEdge goes I didn't notice a difference one way or the other.  IMHO, that's a good thing.  It may stop an occasional extra puck but the fact that it's there and the pads play well regardless makes it a win.

Did you try on any recent bauer models? If so, can you compare the stiffness of the pads as well as rebound speed from pads/blocker?
