I do t think it would make the pads play any different just ocd since I just have to look at them. The pads are the same height with one being a fraction shorter but I chalk that up to not having them being perfectly side by side.
Are they curved to different degrees at the boot and knee breaks? Tonight is the first time I will be using my new G5s even though I've had them for a while (4weeks?) now. There certainly are some minor imperfections in the set, but it doesn't bother me like it would have in times gone by.

The jenpro strap on the outside of the glove that goes across the fingers. The one that keeps the backhand protection snug against the glove.

I loosened the strap that goes around the backhand across the fingers so the glove opens wider

Again right pad,
Now i dont know if this is because its an intermediate pad or what but that coupled with the hole on the catcher. Im not that impressed after my initial happiness.
Am i being fussy
@Kirk3190 just incase you can chime in

I used to be like you and cared a lot about any imperfections. It just takes so much out of me to care that much anymore. There are some puckering and unevenness on my custom G5s but I only cared about it for 5 seconds. As long as it stops the puck well, and does not detract from the performance, I would not be worried about the cosmetic side of things. On that hole on the glove though, it might lead to faster wear - though I don't think the wear will be terribly heightened.
I would say there's nothing wrong with you sending it back - it should be perfectly fine under the return policy right? I don't think these were custom ordered?

1. The G4 pads look to be an inch smaller, is this due to the boot being softer as you used the pads?
2. What made you decided to go from brown as secondary with G4 to black as secondary with G5?
3. Did you go with with Medium Stiff ( stock) or X-Stiff for the thigh rise?
1. Yes. They are the exact same size, the G5 just hasn't had time to be settled into slightly.
2. Black is slightly easier to match up between the brands. I was contemplating matching the set with a Brians OPTIK2 glove. But now that they enlarged the catch pocket of the G5, I'll probably stick to the G5.
3. I went with the X-stiff thigh. It's a little bit stiffer. Not that the G4s were too soft for me, I just wanted a more straight curve above the knee to help with mobility

get both!
Just kidding. I think you'd be happy with either. My G4's were a bit stiff new, but now closes like butter, and no stingers.
My G5s are begging for some game use right now. Just been working it on the couch.

If you had the choice which would be better
G4 pro catcher
Or
G5 snr
I haven't gotten my hands on the G5 SNR stuff to try yet. I'd lean towards the G4 pro, it's the nicer glove that I have ever used. The downside is that the T is a bit short compared to other gloves - the G5 tee is about an inch longer. The glove permitter is the same, they just reduced the cuff block size.

Likewise - fingers crossed that the rinks start back up under phase 2

We have had games at Pineville cancelled because it was so foggy that I could barely see a player standing on the blueline at the point let alone see what was going on at the other end of the ice. Another time we moved the goal up to the top of the crease to put the hole where the ice melted inside of the goal. Talk about messing up any positioning.
Ahh I haven't played there in about 7-8 years, but ya definitely remember the foggy ice. Ha. What a time.

Monday will be 8 weeks from when I ordered my pads so I guess that I can't complain yet.
Where are you at now?
Oh nice. I never did get to play at XI. I mostly played out of raleigh/durham rinks but periodically popped in at Pineville.
I'm up in Boston now. Lots of rinks but all shut with no peep of when they are coming back online. Some of my teams are trying to put together low-key pickups as soon as allowed

I got an email from the rink this week and it'll be opening up for limited capacity stick times when phase 2 starts next Friday.
Nice, hope you get em in time! I wish the rinks around here had an idea of when they might even be opening. The stay at home around here is scheduled to lift next monday - but no word yet on rinks. Where do you play in NC? I used to play down at the Pineville icehouse

Actually I miscounted weeks - the lockdown has me all sorts of confused about time. It is just under 8 weeks! Where has all that time gone

I knew this would be a high-wear area, and it's one of the main reasons I didn't get the G4 (after being in G2s). But they fixed that and added all the features you mentioned, so I am very excited to get mine in. Hopefully they arrive soon!
The bindingness is definitely nice! I had to repair the g4 bindings a few times. Hope you get them soon too!!

48 minutes ago, Quadzilla32 said:anything that you noticed in Particular that you want to point out? I actually saw your set posted somewhere and thought it was really nice and clean.
Blocker: flatter profile is the big difference, otherwise feels pretty similar
Glove: Can't really notice the tilt in coveragePlus, but I did notice that the thumb-side of the T is about .5 inches longer than the same region on my G4s. It looks like they took some size out of the cuff and added to the T. This is what I wanted - I always thought the catch pocket was undersized relative to the glove perimeter compared to other gloves (OPTIK2 etc)
Pads: The thigh break is definitely stiffer. Hope this plays to the way I like my pads - straight above the knee. The outside wing wrap has dimpled texture. The exterior rooms are nice and beefy down low and tapered nicely towards the top. The flattened knee rolls have a more 3-dimensional construction now, and looks awesome. The knee landing has a cutoff the back corner. Top of the pad binding is also jenpro now instead of nylon - might help prevent fraying.
All around, improvements to everything that I might have wanted from G4s, and retaining everything about the G4s that I loved.

I went with Wack from Pure Goalie - they are just up the street from me, and Wack is a cool guy. They were up on Pure Goalie's insta feed. Man they know how to take good pictures.

For those of you wondering, Warrior is still producing. I just received my set of G5's that I ordered about 6 weeks ago! Here are some pictures, next to my set of G4's that they will be replacing. The blocker board is flatter, the glove has an insert to tilt the hand a bit. The pads are extra-stiff in the thigh, and the same size as my set of G4's (36+2). I think I'll really like the beveled cut on the back corner of the landing stack. Not sure when I'll be able to take them out for a spin, but hope to do a review when possible. Meanwhile, if there's any area where folks want to see more pictures, I'd be happy to oblige.

ive been using double tees for forever now but see G5’s come standard with single tees. Are tees personal preference or is their benefit of one over the other. I’ve never used a single tee besides on a sr glove I used for a couple weeks ten years ago. Both my Simmons gloves have been double and only thing I’ve read was you can see the pucks easier in the double.
these are my narrowed down colors, fan of the retro knee roll look so leaning towards them
You feel the puck entering the single-T better than with the double. You see the puck in the pocket better with the double versus the single. I prefer feeling the puck being caught at the expense of some visibility in the pocket.

Has anybody had experience with playing with a glove before and after floating T? Any noticeable differences? Recommended?
No real difference to be honest. I converted my G4 from the standard single to a floating T. If you were going to catch the puck in the pocket, it will stay in the pocket either way. I've never had pop outs if I line up the pocket with the puck.

I measure my G4s at a hair over 11", and the glove perimeters are all right at the limit.

I finally got on the ice after having had the G5’s for what seemed like forever (8 weeks). Gotta day they performed flawlessly, and very similar to the G4’s I was coming out of. The harder knee stack foam helped me slide and push a bit better. And the New bigger T on the glove felt very natural, and allowed me to catch pucks just like with the g4. Didn’t notice anything bad about the blocker and was able to punch out some hard rebounds.
