You couldn't get the air2gel?  It's firm, but i wouldn't call it hard, certainly not as hard as VN foam I've had in the past.  But the point of a lot of the research behind Shocktec is that a foam that will not compress completely is the most protective.  I lot of the softer and comfort foams I've seen can be compressed completely between 2 fingers.  That means that an impact can transfer to the head much easier or at least, that's the theory as I understand it.

Yeah i got a sample of air2gel, compered to the tan foam i have in my mask now (rubatex i think its called) its pretty firm, the way you reduce impact force is you increase the time of deceleration, so the longer it takes for the puck to decelerate the better. Im doing some tests at the moment on different foams, so i will find out soon how good the shocktec is

Looks like Shocktec or something similar.  I clicked the link and saw how they put additional sweatbands on the sides.  I don't know why I never thought of that, but I always get sweat going into my ears and it drives me nuts.

i actually got some shocktec samples that i will be doing some tests, on unfortunately they only sell their HD foam now, and i find it to hard for mask use

@mr_shifty1982, since you asked about P2 reviews, I'll give you mine.  I've only managed to use them for a few ice times, but as I'm coming from P1, it was an easy transition.

Two things that you notice right away: 1) Light!!! Wow.  They say it's 20% lighter, and I believe it.  Picking them up and comparing side-by-side, it's hard to believe that it isn't more.  As a result of this, they move with you really well on the ice and help reduce fatigue.  2) They feel much more flexible all over.   Not sure how some of the other break options would compare, but the single internal/external break compared to the previous version is much easier to flex.  For the boot, I feel that this is a great improvement, and allowed for a much easier time getting low and also in pushing while in the butterfly.

In addition to these first two things, the pad seemed to fit a bit smaller as the boot angle wasn't quite as extreme as previous.  The new strapping system is very comfortable and responsive, just need to play with it a bit in order to make sure that there is a consistent feel across both your legs.  As well, the rebounds have gotten even better, firing off of the pads with greater ease.

The glove I didn't notice too much change in, and still felt comfortable.  The blocker again had a noticeable weight reduction allowing for a quicker blocker hand and easier time with stick/puck control.  They added a few more pieces of protection on the finger tips, and changed the attachment point for one of the elastics on the index finger, which can at times cause things to feel a little bulky, but quickly forgotten about at the same time.

The only draw back to the equipment that I tried was the speedskin.  For myself, I'm just not a fan.  I'm not sure if it's a mental thing, or an actual, but it always seems like I slide slower and have a more difficult time when I wear a pad with speedskin.  Saying that, I've heard lots a good feedback about speedskin and it's improvements to people's game, it's just not for me.  If I were to order a set today, I'd be going with standard jenpro.

All-in-all, they aren't the lightest, they don't have the best rebound, or have the best slide on the market, but for my money they are the best overall performing and feeling pad.  If you're in the market for new equipment, they're definitely worth taking a good look at.

Got any cool pics of your set

  7. First thing ive noticed is how thick the thigh rise is, the inner part in 6 cm thick, compered to 3.5 cm thick on my reactor 4000, so i feel they might interfere abit with each other

Set looks good. Happy to see some black. Graphic is a bit boring but maybe that's your thing. My only real complaint would be the white thigh rise and boot lacing. Why in the blue hell would they have not used black lacing?

Im bit of a minimalist so the graphic is perfect for me, and im not sure why it isnt black, would have looked better

    Hey Mads! Thanks for posting!

Long distance from Denmark? ?? Cool! Good luck landing a better apprenticeship. Reading between the lines, it sounds like your SO is a keeper (Also for putting up with you! ) I know my wife was a saint even before I decided to play goalie.

I’m in no position to advise on pads, but it might be a particular challenge for you being in Europe. I think @Znowleopard recently posted about buying pads...? I think he’s in Belgium...(?)

    Anyway, welcome!

    Cheers,

    Mark

Yes I am in Belgium (actually in denmark right now for the World Cup) , and me and mads happen to both be danish

Euro is worth more than USD.

Price difference is mostly logistics related. They incorporate the cost of the shipping from China to North America into the price of the pad. The additional shipping to get it to Europe is generally an additional cost.

I wonder if it would cost less to get it shipped from a store in the us, doubt it but might look into it
