Well I guess I'll give the dark side a try, a heavily modified try. Still picking specs for the pads as I've used CCM/ rbk/ koho since 06. Hyperlite glove with mack skin is a must. Has anyone had an issue with the new strapping being too tight? I don't have the smallest calf's and am worried that the strapping will be too tight for my liking.

Personally I haven’t had any issues but have heard other people complain about it. I started at about the mid point then went as loose as possible m, now I have it at about a 1/4 tightness. Kinda want to play around with it a little bit more though.

    I agree this is confusing

I reached out to Bauer on other topics. I not sure if Hyperlite and Soft are Vapor build and Ultrasonic through XStiff are Supreme build?

With that said, I don't see any downside to going with Stabiliflex. Bauer pads don't twist like some other brands, so I don't see an issue. Post integration is probably where you will notice the biggest difference.

When you say this what do you mean by post integration? I am assuming you mean rvh but in what ways would they be different compared to one other-about to order my set soon and I feel as though I would prefer the ultrasonic knee block better but wondering what the hyperlite knee block would provide me better with in rvh or perhaps what different feel would it give?

  3. What’s the difference between the two knee blocks? Probably getting a set of these just not sure which would benefit me better. Same with I’m not sure if I want stuff or soft, have the 2x pros right now and I like farther rebounds, is the extra stuff the route to go?

So @mr_shifty1982 what is it about the materials that you find so suspect? The 2s pro arms I found absolutely nothing wrong with, so wondering if they are trying some major material change along with the elbow design?

Could also be psychological that you've influenced what @Hockey1234 considers a stinger now :P

Definitely not, I just shouldn’t be getting that bad of a stinger from a pro level chest protector. I think I’m gonna go for a Ccm axis chest protector.

  5. Second time on the ice was yesterday, ended up with even more stingers on my arms from not so high level players. Everywhere else it’s protected extremely well besides the arms. The arms are also very weird and can get stuck on the shoulder flaps. Blocker saves were already one of my weaknesses but now it’s even worse. It felt like I couldn’t stop anything high blocker and was getting beat there all day. Going to try to return it and get a different chest protector, extremely disappointed with bauer on this chest protector.

  6. Used it on the ice yesterday for the first time! Ended up with one light “stinger”. I felt it for maybe 3 seconds but the pains went away very quickly. It was on the forearm area where I sort of expected would be the worst place protection wise. The shot was from a 20 year old though who plays in the nahl and is playing d3 next year. So I would say It’s definitely protective enough for me! Extremely comfortable and easy to get used to. I thought the arms would take forever to get used to, only thing that’s different is how it fits on me. I had the ccm premier pro(2017 I think) and the body was way too wide around me so I’m used to having space around my chest. On the bauer it fits snug which I definitely prefer. Have to play around with the tucking and shoulder strap options though as there are many ways to do it. As well as I may do more adjustments on the shoulders!

  7. I ended up purchasing an ultrasonic chest protector. It felt protective and fit me well compared to a lot of other chest protectors on the market. I’m 5 10 and around 140 pounds so I often find chest protectors are too wide around my chest/waist area. Probably the best fitting I’ve felt for a chest protector and the mobility on it was insane. I’ll provide updates on the protection of it!

  8. I’m in the market for a new chest protector and have heard both good and bad things about bauer chest protectors. I’m hoping to at least have the chest protector for two years and am going to prep school the year following this upcoming one. So I definitely need something which is very protective and loved the bauer 2s pro when I tried it on but just don’t know how protective it truly is. Thanks, all help us appreciated!

Hurt the tops of your feet like lacebite? Ot do you literally mean on the top of your foot? True tongues come in standard, a standard but with a lace-bite protector and a reinforced (mostly for protection for blocking shots). Maybe try adjusting the tongues since they are velcroed in, or just skip the eyelets where there is pain. It's quite normal for people to skip eyelets.

True's new player tongue is way different than the felt tongues of old. It's stiffer and not as padded but seems to be really well fitted to the foot.

I’m a goalie but I got this all figured out. It was like at the bottom of the tongue it was hurting the top of my foot. I had the slim/thin / lightweight tongue, whatever it’s called. It was just too tight but it’s fine now I figured out how to tie it to make it not hurt my feet.

I have one piece true goalie skates with standard tongue and they feel great. I believe they are a bit shorter than the 2 piece and player tongues but that’s based off looks. I don’t think there’s too big a difference, and standard is fine

I have two piece w a vertex holder. I’m sort of deciding between the t guard and the standard. I don’t really know what the t guard is though and can’t find any information on it.

  11. What are the differences between the true tongues? I have the slim ones right now and they hurt the tops of my feet even though I got them baked. What tongue should I get? Also, is there a difference between the player tongues and the goalie tongues?

Uh..... it sounds like you know exactly how "this" happens..... When you get hit in the face with a hard object, shit that is made out of metal bends.... its designed to do that... Looks like the mask did its job. I'm not sure how long you have been playing goal for but getting dented cages and having to replace them is part of playing a position where frozen rubber biscuits are ripped at your dome bud. My suggestion is to get a quicker glove hand ;)

I’ve been playing for around 13 years so yes, I get it. I just haven’t had one actually snap on me before like this one did. I wasn’t concerned too much about the bending but then I saw the cage actually broke and that just seemed like it shouldn’t happen.

  14. How does this happen. This is used for 5 months at the most and I’ve taken maybe 10 head shots. The only ones that broke it and bent it were prep/junior kids   I know this for a fact because I always check my mask and after checking it after this camp it has all the damages. I mean I can’t be replacing a cage every shot I get to the mask from prep/junior kids. I know masks are supposed to bend and stuff but I’m not gonna buy a new one every three months. Eventually the amount of cages ive bought will outweigh how much I spent on the actual mask. Anyone know of any higher quality replacement cages for the 960 pro model or if coveted sells any?

Pretty much all modern skates are designed to be baked. Baking is no longer something you CAN do and is more of something you’re SUPPOSED to do.

Bake them at home. Follow the instructions VH posted on YouTube a while back.

Okay thanks, I sort of figured that I just wanted to make sure as they are a custom mold and I didn’t know if that would change anything, I guess not. Thanks again!

Yes, you are supposed to bake them when you get them. I would suggest going back to the store where you bought them from as they need to be baked longer than normal skates for them to function properly. and do not skate with them for at least 36 hours after you bake them as they are at their weakest point when they are being baked and after they are baked.

Okay thanks, I bought them from an equipment sale and tried them on before buying. They fit perfectly and it was really weird but I still wanna get them baked. I’m pretty sure my local hockey shop will bake them though!

I am very excited to see your enthusiasm, but we need to be pragmatic before annoite anything the best...

Can maybe elaborate a bit more here. If you haven’t even used this on this, how can you says it’s the best?

Also, you’re somewhat comparing apples and oranges. NME7 is NOT a pro shell and this is.

By best I meant light, comfortable, and design features(first impressions). I tried to explain that in the next sentences but I worded it wrong, doesn’t  sound like an opinion after I’m reading it again like I anted it to. Although, I did get it on the ice today. The major thing that I noticed was how much faster I was able to track the puck due to the light weight. It took a little bit to get used to at first because I was in a certified cat eye previously and this is a straight bar. After maybe 30 minutes I adjusted to it. I got one straight to the cage. My ears were ringing for maybe 5 seconds compared to the nme 7 which could ring for up to a minute.

    How do you like it

Best mask I’ve ever owned based on looks and the feel of it. Just the simple design features alone impress me and make it superior to other mask brands, such as my old bauer nme 7. I haven’t been able to get it on ice yet, just got the mask today.

  19. Anybody else on backup right now on a mask from coveted. I’ve heard only good about them but I was told it would ship between the 4th-6th of December. I asked Ron about it and he said the cage was stil getting airbrushed and he would send pics of the completed mask when it was finished-this was 2-3 days ago and stil no pics. I’m gonna guess that this kind of stuff doesn’t usually happen just because of all the good that I’ve heard about them and their customer service.
