Greg Harrison used to by "seconds" from Cambridge Towels in Cambridge, Ontario, close to his shop. We lived in this town for 13 years.

Not surprising to know that he was a whiz on sewing machines and would make sweat bands in his shop.

Lange/Micron Goal Skates. In the 80's they attempted to use their ski boot technology(?) for skates. The skates were a hard plastic shell with a fabric/foam boot insert.

They were grey, heavy and very uncomfortable. I gave mine away and warned the new owner.

Anyways once I get an advisor set up I’ll be moved to a different team where hopefully the coach will actually be willing to talk to me directly and not avoid me every chance he gets. That photo was shot 10 years ago when we were still in the 60+ division.  Less hair now, chests are becoming bellies and I still wear the same leather gear.

The majority of my guys are retired from full time jobs so we have the ability to play day time hockey. Plus, our ice time is subsidized by the City of West Kelowna under the Seniors Recreation Program. We enjoy 6 ice times per week,  equally shared by the 55+ and 70+ Divisions.  All are 75 minutes each with a cost of $5.25 per player, goalies play for free.

Interesting insight from bildeer regarding the wear and tear from playing on our knees. What is the solution?

Are there no leagues in your area which cater to us Golden Oldies? 

I recall when 35+ Oldtimers hockey began in the late 1970's. We would chuckle in the dressing room that hockey was then available to people our age. Most of us had families, jobs, but still displayed the will to play.

Skip ahead to the mid 90's and I played goal for a well run league with age divisions that had 5 year increments, from 35+ to 60+.

Here I am, rapidly approaching 73 and play 2-3 times a week, late mornings, in a 70+ program. Of course my (our) skills have deteriorated along with our bodies, some more so than others, but we are on the ice and still enjoying the game of our youths. The competitive spirit burns brightly.

I did a "head" count at Friday's game. The results were 55% of my team was bald, the remainder were white haired.

I had my left hip replaced on Oct. 29/2007, age 58. Returned to hockey in September 2008. Gump, keep in mind that my surgery utilized an older procedure. All the best to you in November.

My goal for hockey season 2022-23?  I hope to finish the season and not suck.

It's my 17th year with this bunch, the Ogopogo Seniors Hockey Club. Three years ago I graduated to the 70+ team, many familiar faces but man, they look old.

I wish you all a satisfying season with a bag of shutouts, excuses for new gear purchases, cold beer and hot showers.

Yes, it was the 30AE. I was fortunate to drive it on the day where we climbed mountain roads with plenty of switchbacks. Including excellent non fade braking and terrific acceleration and control in tight turns, that was fun.

I have owned 4 Miatas over the past 20+ years, always first generation models. Pop ups are allowed.

Also guilty of inactivity on this forum. My wife and I are celebrating our 50th in Italy, driving Mazda Miatas throughout Umbria and Tuscany. Our Tour Leader is a professional driver who was born in Siena. Every day we are assigned a different car and then chase each other through the many mountains and valleys of South Central Italy. It has been a gas (1.75 Euros/litre).

Some of you may recall a photo of me on this forum from a few years ago with my Miata and Brown goalie gear. I have owned 4 of these wonderful sporty cars over the past 20+ years so this is a special holiday for us.

Hockey starts on Monday for my team. I told the guys that I will be late reporting to training camp, need to repaint my barn near Siena (Glenn Hall reference).

Internet coverage has been sketchy over here, so here goes an attempt at a few photos, maybe …………

Our 8 month season commences in 2 weeks. My near 4 year old knee replacement, 15 year old hip replacement and 20 year old shoulder reconstruction are still holding together - loads of biking, routine aquafit classes, daily yoga, Tylenol Arthritic, binder twine, and a bundle of stupidity from this seasoned goalie born in 1949.  Game on ........

The jersey is a Goalie Cut size 56 Mitchell and Ness high quality item, complete with sewn on crest, name and numbers, plus a fight strap. 
The mask is from a shell which I obtained 10 years ago. I sanded, prepped and painted it here at my home. After adding some foam padding I had to try it in game action, certainly not the brightest move I’ve ever made (unfortunately not the stupidest either).

There is an autographed 8 x 10 photo of a Vachon included. Hell, I can even sign the shot of me if you want.

I have always been curious about how people choose their online name. Take mine, for example, Wonder35. In the 80's I was tending goal for a Toronto based Air Traffic Control Tournament Team. Following a particularly rough outing on my part one of my "Buddies" stood up in the dressing room and exclaimed "You played goal like Stevie Wonder."

My name is Steve. We all had a good laugh out of this. The following season we sported a set of new jerseys. My usual #35 was on the back but my name was now changed to "Wonder".

Hence I became Wonder 35.

Any deep dark secrets on this topic that you wish to share?

Married 50 years. Getting lucky or showering with a bunch of old, fat, stinky guys. C'mon, hockey comes second these days.

I had my last BROWN C/A Model 2000 beefed up in a few areas and it weighed a tad under 7 lbs. Mind you the arms were shorter, at my request, and I am a non tucker inner.
