  1. I mean, 15 minutes to clear the room means we can theoretically use the shower, but practically speaking? No. Especially if they're limiting it to one person at a time. I know that I'll be arriving and going home half-dressed, and using my own shower, because I hate racing against a clock to get my gear off.

  2. Hockey is returning to Calgary as of June 19th. I got ice booked for that evening. These are the guidelines I got from the arena operator:

    Quote

One thing before I get into the guidelines is all ice rentals are still subject to time tweaking. It will depend on regulations are more clearly presented by Alberta Health Services (AHS). I am hopeful not much tweaking will be required, but I want everyone to understand that ice times may be reduced by 10 minutes to vacate the building if we are forced to have the building vacated after every rental. I will keep you posted.

People have been asking for some guidance. Please note this is the first draft. The final draft will be given by Monday. Some of the regulations may be more strict if AHS has strong guidelines.

    1. Game Play is still not fully approved. I should know by the weekend what parameters are in place for ice rentals so expect another e-mail over the weekend or Monday.

    2. Every person that enters our facility MUST do the Covid19 self check test. If ANY symptoms are present, do not enter the building. This is very important! Symptoms include but not limited to: coughing, soar throat, FEVER... Please be smart.

    3. When entering the facility, please use appropriate doors. The entrance and exits will be marked with arrows. Please use the normal entrance to our facility as upstairs will be closed to our users for a while.

    4. Maximum players allowed are 22 (includes goalies) with a catch. Our dressing rooms can only accommodate 8 players per room with proper social distancing. You will be offered 2 dressing rooms, Therefore, if you have more than 16 athletes, some players must come dressed. It is hopeful that all youth athletes will come mostly dressed. There will be no dressing in the hallways. Skates can be put on in the players boxes once the group before you has vacated and the boxes have been sanitized by our awesome staff. It is up to the coaches to ensure that locker rooms are not over the 8 person capacity! Do not ask for a third dressing room as it won't be available.

    5. We are asking that NO spectators come to the facility. It is strictly a drive and drop/pickup system. If it is absolutely necessary to have a parent it will be allowed for special circumstances. For example, medical issues or timbit players needing help with skates. Please discourage any parents from hanging around the arena at this time... I know that socializing is a big part of hockey, but we aren't at that level just yet. Patience is key at this stage.

    6. Please have your athletes show up for ice times no more than 15 minutes in advance. The arenas will need to be sanitized in between rentals so it is key that we keep an organized plan so AHS does not shut us down. When you show up to our facility go directly to one of the assigned dressing rooms and get ready to play. You must stay in there until the operator blows the horn for you to come out. Again the arena will be sanitized during flood times so it is important to allow our awesome staff the room to do their jobs. After your ice time, you will have 15 minutes to vacate the facility. Showers will be limited to 1 person at a time. Please stay in your seating area until it is your turn to use the shower. It is strongly recommended you ask your players to shower at home.

    7. All vending machines and the water fountain are not in operation. Please have your players fill up water bottles at home.

    8. A no-brainer... NO SPITTING!!!

    9. ....more to come

Anyone not abiding by the rules in place will forfeit their ice privileges.

The gear is made off shore what would they need to open back up?! I’m on roughly week 7 so I hope it’s shorter than 12 weeks. Kind of ridiculous if it takes 12 weeks, I’m hoping 8 weeks...

I was was originally quoted 8-10 weeks in April, fingers crossed.

Global manufacturing and supply chains are all kinds of messed up right now.

Tangerine sour? That sounds real tasty! How was it?

It's excellent. I love a good sour, so refreshing; disappointingly hard to find.

  5. Sweet Kentucky Brown, from the Marda Loop Brewery. Also got a growler of Tangerine Sour I'm going to crack tomorrow.

[Edit] Fuck tomorrow, live for today

Yo, if you're just here to throw shade at Bauer, feel free to not come back to this thread. Never understand why people feel the compulsion to just come in some where and s*** in everyone's cereal just because they like one multi-million dollar corporation more than another.

I happen to think Warrior's look like big Fisher Price toys for children, but I don't go in the Warrior threads and start trashing other people choices for no good reason. Go on enjoy yourself somewhere else instead of coming here to get riled up on purpose.

If Bauer didn't half-ass their stock graphic option, and then charge people through the nose to get a custom print, I wouldn't have anything bad to say about their looks. But they did, and they are, so yeah, I'm going to call it like I see it.

I'm not trashing anyone's decision to get Bauer gear - your money, do what you want with it, no judgement here - but I'm not going to pretend like Bauer is being oh so munificent for giving everyone three whole colour zones with a digitally printed pad graphic that could have had literally hundreds with little to no effort on Bauer's part. Hell, they could have four, or five, or ten different stock graphics for people to choose from; legacy graphics, NHL graphics, the options are nearly endless.

But, no, all they're giving customers is three colour zones, and if you want anything else you better pony up.

It's corporate greed, plain and simple, and I'm not going to praise it.

While I agree that the number of color zones is disappointing... I'm not so sure we can immediately jump on the corporate greed bandwagon. I don't think many people who opt for Pro Custom with a graphic do so because of the number of color zones. They have greatly expanded leg wrap, strapping, and back cover color options. Although oddly enough brown or purple in Zone 1 yield white knee and calf landings. Not sure how often those options would be used... but interesting none the less.

They also have the non-Pro customizer, if you want senior-level Bauer pads that don't look like crap. Though they'll charge you through the nose for it, and you'll probably end up spending as much as you would for custom Pro pads from another manufacturer.

Man, has Bauer ever put out a good looking stock pad? I can't think of one even going back to the Nike days.

It's a good thing they're able to print almost any design you want, their stock gear is so damn boring.

Only if you're willing to shell out a bunch of extra cash. Over 3K USD for a set of Vapor 2X Pro with custom graphics (over $4300 CAD right now). I could get a custom set of Warrior gear and save a thousand bucks. Custom sets from Mckenney and Passau are ~$2500 CAD.

And honestly? I have serious doubts about the durability of Bauer gear these days. Four grand just to get a custom graphic on some pads that will probably last me half as long as a set from Warrior, Mckenney, or Passau? Not a chance.

    Still they look quite good.

From Bauer perspective it was a great idea. That way they can force more clients to their True Design.

I hate companies that try to manipulate their customers into spending more by withholding product improvements that cost them nothing. Toxic business practices.

And the graphics they have look like crap. Can't do anything interesting with them.

Agreed. Being able to make finer adjustments would really open up the possibilities.

Digitally printed graphics, and all they give on the face of the pad is three colour zones.

I don't know who thought that was a good idea, but it wasn't.

I’m just trying to determine if taking advantage of TGC deal will put me around the same price point as regular price SR gear. If I’m spending around the same I’ll just preorder them now vs waiting.

Goalie Monkey doesn't have the G5 senior pads listed on their site yet, but they have the GT2 leg pads on for $799.99, the glove for $249.99, and the blocker for $229.99, for a total of ~$1280. GT2 custom Pro set costs $2229.99, so a senior set is about 60% as much as a custom Pro set, about $950 USD less.

The difference between senior and custom Pro GT2 will probably be similar to the difference between senior and custom Pro G5, though that's speculation on my part.

Anyone know the price point of senior level gear. I’m trying to compare the price of custom through TGC and just getting senior pads/ blocker and a pro glove.

While custom colors would be awesome playing intermediate beer league 1/2 times a week might only require SR level stuff

Warrior senior level pads/gloves uses the same internals as their pro level gear from the previous line (G4 senior uses G3 internals, etc.). Good route, if you're looking at senior gear.

  12. Spring season is almost definitely going to get wiped out by everything going on, and winter might be hamstrung as well, which would leave me some extra cash for these beauts.

    *sigh*

42 games. 4 wins. 2 shutouts. 1000+ shots. Oh well. I had one hell of a good time and went through quite the transformation in gear and style of play

    Very interesting cutout... Opposite 2S

Probably more structurally sound. A projectile striking a concave surface will transmit more force to it than if it were to strike a convex surface. Pucks are less likely to strike the back of the paddle, so this reduces the weight without sacrificing the durability of a convex face.

Heh likely :) played with a group this morning that apparently had two former Pro teammates in the skate and either high snipe or sneaky deke they almost always beat me :)

I’ll try that. I tried having my glove out and waving it at them but I don’t think it worked 🤔

Wiggling your glove around will work on lower-skill players, sometimes, but anyone that's gone pro or semi-pro will probably just exploit that.

How much does this help? I feel I am great down low but get beat a lot glove and blocker high or lower

It helps me a lot. Really gets my hands moving, my head turning to track the puck. Not sure how it'll work for you, though.

Well, my season came to an early close most likely from the other night. First shooter in a shootout and I made just about a split save, however, I cannot perform the splits and the cheers from my bench ended when they realized I could no longer stand. It appears as though I've torn an adductor for the second time in 5 months.

Oof. I was stretching during warm-up last week and heard a *pop* from my right-side gracilis. Played a few games since and it feels better every day, but groin injuries are nerve wracking. Never quite sure how long it's going to take to heal, what movements might aggravate it. Not fun.
