Not that high thankfully. Gotta keep in mind there's nothing special in these chests. Excluding the sternum it's all LD and HD foams

Whenever I see these online for resale, they always have the same wear spots under the inside arms.  Hopefully they use a better material in this area going foward.  My guess is it's the same.  Noticed this with Vaughn's mesh material wearing much faster too on my VE8 pro return.

Wait til you see the cost on this one. If it makes you feel better once you find the cost it's the same the pro guys are paying

    Let me guess.  $1000 USD?

This is the product you should be getting at retail for the amount of money they charge for "pro level" gear.

The ol' RBK/Vaughn days. I remember Bauer being an outlier since their gear seemed to always be chasing what RBK/Vaughn were doing.

Really makes you note just how influential the Od1in line was for the evolution of goalie pads.

The OD1N line for pads surely changed the game.  Also, the Bauer 1S goalie skate.

"Try wearing the lower buckle looser.  The top buckle is supposed to be super snug and bottom just tight enough to hold.  Might be squishing his foot."

Was going to take a look later at how tight my son had the lower buckle.  With laces, he used to just crank it to become one with the boot....told him his foot still had to be able to use its muscles and tendons! LOL

    Thx!

I would try this before using the heat gun.  The shell is really not that pliable other than "wrapping" over the top of the foot.  Another option is to rebake the liners.

  6. I’ve found the best way to get the liners right is to first bake following the normal instructions.  Once the skates are cooled, rebake just the liners for 4 minutes and readjust.  This way, the shell is already formed and you get a better liner mold vs having a soft liner and shell during the regular process.  Konekt hack!  I highly recommend! :)

For those who have the skates and went through the fitting process did anyone use the shims or the toe sleeves? My shop doesn’t have either so I’m hoping there won’t be any fitment issues.

You’ll want the toe sleeves to help make room for your feet and also not leave “grooves” or indents from toes.  You could make your own or I would contact Bauer and have them ship a pair.

  8. This is my mod for Pro Laces.  Tie the lace through the loop in the liner and then place UNDER the lower buckle so it doesn’t have tension on it.  Leave enough slack so you can slide velcro staps through.  Better than having anything directly attached to the buckles!

I assume he means the bottom one because you wouldn’t be able to put the skate on if you kept the top one fully buckled

He means when the skate is on the foot.  You are supposed to really clamp down the top strap to avoid movement and take full advantage of the flex.  The lower strap is meant to be snug, but not cranked down.

It'll all depend on how long the hinge mechanism holds up. NHLers may be OK to go through multiple pairs of skates in a season, but Average Joe can't be dropping $1100 on custom skates every eight months.

Also, the longevity of the liner and if the metal pieces are prone to rusting.  Curious if the liners are to be removed between skates.  Interesting there are no vent ports/drains in the bottom of the shell.

  11. I am confused with the new Bauer "Game Fit" sizing.  At the top of the chart, it lists foot size and then converts to what size skate you would need.  Does this now run true to size?  For instance, if your foot size is 10, it says you need a 10 skates.  Typically, your shoe size is 1.5 sizes bigger than the skate size.  Thanks for any clarification!
