Didn't you see? They added plastic to their knee wing.

    PLASTIC!

Their innovations aren't exactly breaking the mold their last few releases.

I am curious how long this will last in the real world usage ! ha !

Can you post a pic please?

    Sure, there it is !

You see the crack on the black part but also the crack continues along the way between the "Carbon" part and the black part towards left side and right side.

If I try to move the white part that holds the blade, I can see the crack opening up and closing back.

That’s a bummer that you can’t get a replacement. I would actually see if you couldn’t have the toe cap replaced by a good repair person before attempting a DIY repair. Depending on what materials were used in the construction, it may not take epoxy as some plastics will not stick to epoxy. If you can’t find anyone to replace the toe cap, that’s when you would gamble a DIY repair. I know that I would attach the toe from a cowling after the repair!

Yeah I'll try to find a shop for them to have a loot at what is possible. I am hoping for the best.

I am very surprised that it cracked. It might have hitted a very specific spot.

  4. Hey everyone ! I hope you are all doing well !

I have a question for you and I hope you had an experience like this in the past.
I bought a brand new pair of Bauer 2X Pro Goalie stakes and got a shot on the front of the skate when doing the save. It's rare that it happens there but it was from a cross pass and I had to move and slide to stop it.

I noticed after the game that the front of the state (black front part where the toes are covered) was cracked because of this shot.

I am wondering if this can be repaired in any ways, and/or if Bauer has some kind of warranty on that. It's a pair of 1000$ skates and honestly, I expected them to be bullet proof as it a top tier skate in Bauer's lineup and even Pro's in NHL uses them. They have around 35 games played.

Please let me know. I'll try to post a photo tonight.

Nice pics. What kind of camera and lens are you using? I got a Pentax K1 and a 80-200 2.8 lens.

When I shoot sports I always use the Canon R6 with 70-200 F/2.8L

My Ps2 lasted a long time as well, they actually didn't break I ended up selling them, same as my Eflex4s, love the Eflex sticks, they are reasonably marked as well if you cam find a 4, currently using a 5.

That's good to know, I'll aim for these then if they last long !

  7. Ah yeah it's just crazy, how it costs. I had 2 CCM Premier 2.5 for at least almost 2 years. 2 games ago the shaft broke on a shot I got on it.
Went to the store and as usual, I cannot find any of these since they've been replaced since but the newer model (more expensive). I finally found in a local proshop where I play 1 stick Premier 1.5 All Black for 129CAD. Meanwhile it'll do the job but I am waiting for a friend who know someone that can have deals on sticks. I'll check with him hoping it's going to work.

The sticks are probably the most lucrative this in a sport store. I'd be curious to know how much it really cost to produce vs the price we pay...

  8. I had a customer who requested my photography services here in Montréal, Qc for a private action photoshoot.

He just had his new gear from Lefevre to match his team colors. Very nice kit here.

Here are a few photos. (Has to shoot through the glass. Click on photo for better resolution)

  9. @johncho, honestly I've played my whole like with a regular cage and I am curious to "see" who big it will impact my vision during the game.
I can't compare since I've never worn any, so far, but I will let you know (all of you) when I receive it.

I hope it will make a big difference.

As for the build quality, I think the bars are a bit more thick but I know for sure that the welds are better.
But I am sure that getting a good hard shot, right in the kisser, will make the bar bends as intended.

  10. Oh well after a few misadventures at the store with their terminal with which you pay, (locked 2 of my cards, took over 4 hours to have the line at both banks and have my cards unlocked. The terminal was adding random digits to your PIN when hitting any keys on the keyboard, even the OK button... 🙄), I finally managed to get my hands on a new Bauer 960XPM black.

I'm gathering information on the process to have a custom cage made by "Grilles Ange-Gardien" to put on and see if I like this or not. I will carry both of them in case that at some tournament they ask for a regular cage.

Looking forward to be hit right in the head during the warm-up ! 😄 😄 😄

  11. Oh ! It's even worse when you see the whole kit on the mannequin. 🤮

Too bad for them ! Anyway it's not the jersey that makes the team...

I remember one time we played and we had no 2nd jersey. The other team was having the same color as us, so the arena gave us PINK jerseys for the game ! lol !
I was like : "Let's go boys, we're going to win that game and make fun of them after the game and tell them they lost against a team with pink jerseys !!"

haha ... well ... we lost the game and all the shame was on us plus the fact we've been wearing pink jerseys hahahahaah ! We never forget our 2nd set EVER after that game lol !

  12. Hey boys !

I'm looking to switch my old ITECH Pro mask which has started to crack on the top, and the screws are about to pop out of the helmet. No need to talk about the cage which has rust almost everywhere and is bent a little at different spots with shots I couldn't catch fast enough. Also in phase 2, I will be looking for a new chesty, but I can wait a few months and still play with the one I have at the moment.

    MASK:
So about the mask, I checked the reviews on https://goaliecoaches.com/best-goalie-masks-for-protection/ and it seems that the best money can buy is the Bauer 960 (non-VTX as  don't have a wide forehead). I know it's not a cheap one, but hey, it's my head after all. I am just wondering if any of you wear hit, and if you can tell your experiences with it during gameplay. Otherwise, do you suggest alternatives to it ?

    Chesty:

I currently have a Vaughn and I love the mobility of this chesty. When I bought it a few years back, I was comfortable game 1, and had near to zero adaptation do make in my gameplay to get use to it. I think I would stick with Vaughn for my next one also so I checked between the VELOCITY V9 PRO SR and the VELOCITY V9 PRO CARBON SR.
There is a price difference of 100$ between them and I wonder if the carbon version is too much.

Any thoughts on these fellow goalies ?

Thanks for your inputs, really appreciated !

He first switched over when CCM was still making Lefebvre gear when he was still on the Blues. I don't think I can recall seeing any images of him in CCM/True gloves since being with the Canadiens?

Me neither, he was using a Brian's glove all the time. He might have tried other brand during practices, but during game time, I always noticed the two "eyes" on the top of the glove from Brian's.

Habs are coming on strong...in the loss column :(

Primeau was sent back to AHL, so Allen will comeback next game assisted by Montembeault. Good duo in my opinion.

Montembeault did a very good job so far.

Mask is giving me vibes of the Soderstrom golfball.

    Sweet pictures.

Haha yeah this mask is wide compared to all the others on the market. I am currently looking to buy a new one to replace this one. He's been abused in bit during it's years of services :P

Thanks for the kind words on the photos, I really like them !

I had the same experience playing at Nassau Coliseum and Madison Square Garden.  There are a lot of hot lights shining down on the ice surface.  My Coliseum experience was even worse because they even turned off the ice refrigeration.  The ice was AWFUL.

In my case ice was good and the lights are so high (and they are DELs) it has no impact on the heat. I'm thinking maybe the normal A/C was off that day since they were disassembling the ice for a concert the day after.

    Pro arenas are always warm.

Played GM place as a kid and it was toasty and I'll occasionally play on WHL ice for the giants and it's noticeably warm.

    Or more like not cold.

Still some of the best ice and beat lighting.

For sure the Bell Center has the best lighting of the enter NHL arenas. We don't use strobes anymore, only the DEL of the normal lighthing. It makes a huge difference in the photo quality.

Amazing that you got to play at the Bell centre! Now if only we could get the actual Canadiens to play there… 😔

Hahahaha well 41% of the last year's player still play there. The other part is out of the game of have been traded hahaha !

But honestly on the ice it was soooo hot. I dont know if the AC was off in the arena because there was no spectators (I wish there was some but you know ... hahaha), but if it's like that during the season, no wonder why all the goalies pour their back with water during whistles...

I’m also from Montreal! Une tête carrée de l’ouest de l’ile… la rive sud, toi? What part?

Also… tough year to be a Habs fan, eh? 😔

Tough year you say ? Man ... lol ! What can we do ... I saw a game at Bell Center, and that specific game they played with no energy. I don't know why but it needs to stop. I stay positive and hope they'll kick their ass and go for a good Win streak ! :)

Je joue a Chambly, Dix30, St-Constant, all round I'd say :) On va peut-être se croiser lors d'un match :)
